《Reaper of The Wizarding World》Slightly Large Snake

As I take my first step into the chamber on the stone path I hear a laugh come from the book.
"Come Basilisk, Kill this boy so I can be reborn." The book yells causing me to roll my eyes.
From the corner of my eye, I can see the giant serpent coming out of the statue's head. "You are really confident in your snake," I say to the book with a small laugh.
I can feel his power try to manipulate my soul but I easily overpower it, "Try again when you are reborn."
I look towards the door and speak in parseltongue, "Close."
I hear the snake getting close as the book speaks again "You can speak parseltongue? What are you doing? Shouldn't you be escaping?"
I speak as I begin shifting into dementor form "The snake should be running from me."
As I reach max height I toss the book to the floor as I raise a wall of shadow in front of myself.
*BOOM*
"RAAAHHHH." The snake yelps as it recoils off the wall its fangs poking holes in the wall. It shakes its head as it begins to gather itself again.
I raise an arm, gathering a tendril of shadow behind myself. With a wave, the tendril lashes out slamming into the Basilisk. It isn't hurt a lot but is pushed into the water on the edges of the walkway.
Once it disappears into the water I follow its soul as it swims under the platforms back towards the statue. 'A water snake.' I joke to myself.
My 'eyes' look at the book on the floor before flying over it heading towards the statue. Past the statue, I see a secret room with a soul in it but I ignore it for now. I follow the soul of the Basilisk as it begins nearing my platform again.
It is incredibly easy to follow since it is the only small soul in the water. I don't think even fish want to swim in this water. I wait patiently as the snake circles below my feet.

The snake stops in the area in front of the statue, slowly its head emerges from the water. It is very dramatic you would think eight more would pop up like a hydra. My 'eyes' meet the snake's as I feel the magic radiating from its eyes.
'You will be a practice dummy. A test for me.' The Basilisk seems to understand me since it hisses at me.
I flick my hand forward as two sharp tendrils of shadow launch from behind me.
"RAAHH." The snake flails as my tendrils pierce its eyes and it falls back into the water.
I nod seeing I successfully destroyed its eyes. I shift back into human form and close my eyes. I track its soul just as I did in dementor form but this time I have my wand.
I point my wand at the water where I 'see' it "BAUBILLIOUS!" White sparks of lightning leave my wand striking the water.
I open my eyes to see the lightning is covering the water in white lightning. "I'll be honest, I didn't know that's how it worked," I say aloud confused at why lightning doesn't break the surface tension of water.
I shrug as I point my wand at the snake's new location. "Bombarda Maxima".
The water caves in making a tunnel as if hit by a missile and I can see a clear path to the Basilisk for a split second before water caves back in on itself. I stare at the silhouette of the Basilisk still swimming just fine with an annoyed gaze.
"How the hell do I hit this thing? I just wanted a fight..." A light bulb ticks in my head. "Water is weak to ice."
"GLACIUS TRIO" A beam of ice spews from my wand covering the water instantly freezing it. I swing my wand around covering all the water in sight covering it all until I feel the water is solid all the way through.
I put down my wand as I nod at my handiwork. I close my eyes and search for the soul of the Basilisk and to my surprise, it's still alive beneath the ice.

"Configo Duo." I say pointing at the snake under the ice.
*BOOM*
The ice is blown apart by a blast of fire revealing the blind head of the Basilisk. It isn't moving and appears to be on its last leg.
"Bombarda" I blow apart the rest of the ice covering the Thirty-foot-long beast.
Seeing I won't get the fight I wanted I shift back to my dementor form. With a few tendrils of shadows, I grab the beast and hoist it up to the main platform near the statue. It doesn't resist but I can feel it try to squirm weakly.
'Don't feel special, I had to retrieve your body for your poison anyway. I may just save you if you serve me though.' My dead voice echoes in its head.
Its head turns towards me and hisses at me aggressively if I could I would smile 'So you can understand me. Too bad you have to die for the children's safety…'
'I would have liked to keep you as a pet but you seem to be too stupid and too aggressive...'
I look back at the diary laying on the ground under a thin layer of ice. I wave a hand to the snake once again. A tendril of shadows pierces its throat just under its jaw causing it to gurgle blood as it slowly dies.
I shift back to human form and pull out a phial from my pouch. I slowly milk one of the fangs and walk back to the diary to test my theory.
With a stomp, I shatter the ice covering the book. I slowly tilt the phial dripping a few drops of poison onto its cover. The book begins to sizzle a bit and smoke rises from it.
"AAHHHHH!!" Screaming comes from the book as a smile spreads on my face. I quickly plug up the phial as I grab the bookmaking sure not to touch the poison.
Walking over to the basilisk I grab a fang from its massive head and yank with all my strength. It snaps off easier than expected.
"Wait, STOP!" The visage of a young man appears in front of me but is very faint. It is the soul of 'Tom Riddle.'
I just give him a wink as I toss the book on the ground and stab it with the basilisk fang. White light sprays around the room as I pierce the center of the book. I look up to see that the soul has been stabbed and is bleeding light in the same area I stabbed the book.
"Interesting."
I raise the fang and stab again where his head would be. Sure enough, the soul falls to his knees as a hole of light opens in his forehead. I stab again in the area around where his heart would be. I grab the book and pull it through the fang stabbing it all the way through.
I look up to see a glowing hole in his chest begin to expand. The visage opens his mouth like he is going to scream but nothing comes out. Only a few seconds later the soul disperses, having been destroyed.
I stand up calmly but stop as I feel my hand is wet. I look down to see my hand is soaked in blood. I make a disgusted face as I try and flick it off.
I wash the Horcrux off in the somewhat clean sewer water and toss it in my pouch so I can research it later. I close my eyes and feel where the hidden room is. The entrance is the mouth of the statue but it closed when the snake came out.
"OPEN," I say in parseltongue and the mouth slowly begins to open much to my relief.
"Time to get my loot," I say to myself as I hop over the gap into the mouth of the statue.

Seeker
The Gods are dead As they bled dry, so did the magic which gave them birth. In the new era of technology, its pathetic remnants must hide in the shadows or be locked away. In the ancient era of magic two beings often stood out: Galileo, an immortal scholar obsessed with knowledge and Angelica, the most loyal servant of the greatest among the now dead Gods. But why are they worthy of mention? Because after millennia of isolation, the two emerge in the new world beyond their reckoning. The entire story is told from the third person, however, each chapter will be told from the perspective of only one of the characters. This will be signified by the first letter of their names after the chapter number to avoid confusion. I submitted this fiction as a [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] as well as a participant in National Novel Writing Month. The original challenge had been to finish this entire faction within the month of November reaching the 55.5k word minimum. This goal had been achieved. I do not own the cover picture

Clearly, there must be some dark secret behind the success of these newcomers, and it’s up to the city’s true artists to find out what it is and expose the conspiracy!
