《Tales of Demons and Dragons - An Original Xianxia GameLit》Politeness (Whipping)

Hello, today your author is taking the Patriarch hat off for a second to discuss a somewhat serious issue.
I just remembered I can now do that without being sniped by a mod. Before, I had too many 'non-chapter' chapters and that apparently warranted a problem during the writathon. So, now that I can do posts like this one again, you'll see them every once in a while.
First of all, head up, as previously mentioned, I'm working on CH backlog and there's basically nothing in the TDD backlog right now. The situation will change in a few days. I even changed some holiday plans to work more on the writing. Studying and working are always there and saving time to write is hard. The value of the Patreon is going to skyrocket for subscribers in the upcoming days, so that's that. I just wanted to make it clear once again for a matter of clarity and transparency. And you know me, I'm a tough nutjob. I can take a massive amount of work, writing, and studying without [hopefully] killing myself.
However, not everyone is the same.
Some people respond to criticism more strongly than others.
In the past week there has been a case above others where a big author basically didn't post anything because he's been very negatively affected by the comments of a few very mean people. And I've seen privately many other authors being very discouraged by some extremely negative comments.
Now, I have dealt with a massive amount of criticism in my life. Parents, family, friends, readers, authors, ex-girlfriends and so on. I still count myself lucky that I can pay my rent and live somewhat comfortably. And, most of all, I'm lucky to be in the privileged - albeit with small privileges right now - that I am in. I do what I love, I study when I say so and my job is what I say it is. I'm not rich nor wealthy by any means, but right now I'm surely lucky. To be honest, it wasn't always easy. And everyone has issues, be it me or a bigger author with a boatload of cash. And even the people who might be living more comfortably than you or me deserve some measure of respect.

I personally got a few very inflammatory comments here and I simply reported them. I got a few extremely stupid and offensive review and I reported those too. As of late, I apparently got accused of putting politics in this novel. I don't know where, honestly, but whatever. You get the gist.
I have dealt with this shit for a lifetime and I still gets me sometimes. It still can sadden me, ruin my day even. Sometimes I'll read a review in the wrong moment of the day, maybe if I'm vulnerable, and it's going to stick for hours. In the worst days of my writing career, I couldn't sleep, I cried, I shouted into a pillow. It wasn't nice; it was nasty.
Sadly, we cannot whip idiots, be it right, left, communist, nazi, mean people, too good people, overly religious people, overly satanic people, overly idiotic, overly smart. Pricks of whatever category you can think of. I don't care. You can't whip them. Even though I'm of the idea that if you heavily insult another human being on Internet, lashes should be at least one of the options. But most governments do not agree with me.
I believe that if you are a prick, good chance is that you'll die a prick. So, here's what I encourage you to do.
I cannot change how the mean people behave. I try to start a conversation with them when I see the most stupid comments or review, but most times they don't even answer my DMs.
What a decent human being can do is to offer some support when he sees someone struggle. If you notice a nasty comment or a nasty review, address the idiots. It's the only weapon we really have until they allow me to freely whip pricks right and left. You see a nasty review? Write a nice one where you say that the person writing the nasty thing is a prick. Don't use too vulgar language, just mention the whipping they deserve if you want to. It's a nice piece of conversation I sometime use "I believe you should be whipped for what you just said, but lucky for you the law still doesn't agree with me."

I digress.
Anyway, the point is: see a nasty comment, reply with a positive thing about the novel and say that the prick is wrong. See a very nasty review? Do the same.
We are basically like hippies, but instead of flowers, we use the whip.
I like that. I might turn it into a novel, honestly. Title: The Whip.
This is basically a spoiler of a dialogue I had prepared for Joey in Casual Heroing but, as the novel goes, it is what it is.

The Court of Souls?
Author's Comment: I was asked about reading my work on other sites. The answer is simple: Currently I am not active in any other networks than royalroadl.com. Only here, I correct mistakes and errors. If you read it anywhere else and have to pay for it, or have to deal with an annoying amount of advertisement, You Are Being Betrayed. You would do good if you make other people in that network aware of it. This is a free project of mine for the purpose of having fun. And if people try to make money with it you shouldn't bother visiting their website. The only one whom I actually allowed to have my work on his website is Armaell who invested the time to compile them into pdf. (http://armaell-library.net/author/andur) ——————————————————————————————— Reading Order of the Multiverse-Books ——————————————————————————————— What do we talk about tonight? ~“How about a story?”~ Fine by me. Which story? Hopefully a good one. ~“There was once a lonely child in a world filled with myths, gods and demons. Only power counted there and the weak were worse than cattle. A world where survival of the fittest ruled.”~ Was it strong then? ~“No, but the child had a power. One that made him stand between light and darkness. Nothing could escape him, so he was shunned by his people.”~ What did he do? Did he fight his fate? Did he hide his power? What was it? ~“Oh, he fought. He fought a lot. And no thing could escape his power. It was something that everyone had to live with.”~ So he became a hero and changed the world? ~“…”~ Tell me. ~“Nooo, that's not how the story goes. This isn't a story of a noble man, doing good amidst a sea of monsters. This is a story of a demon who was... kinder than the rest.”~ A kind demon? How boring. ~“I think it would be better if I tell the story, so you can judge for yourself.”~ So tell the story!

Strangler
A jackass, a Muscle Wizard, and a woman who just wants to fish. In a Sword & Sorcery type of world, can the jackass be the hero he always wanted to be? Or will his mere presence ruin the lives around him. Main Character's Debt tracker added. What to expect: A slow paced story focused on the characters rather than the fate of the world. Weak Lead, his progression would be slow. Pathetic and dependent, I hate him. :) Upload Times: Tuesday/Friday 7:00Am CST (Would switch to MWF when I have more free time)

City Goons
Everybody is looking for something in the city ruins. For Haru it’s the loot, the rewards, and one day finding her mother’s pendant after losing it during the Folding, an apocalyptic event where multiple dimensions smooshed into each other and created interdimensional human-monster hybrids. For Kill Death aka KD it’s a rock ‘em sock ‘em good fight to grow stronger. And together, Haru and KD will fight monsters, find loot, meet colourful characters and go on adventures as… City Goons! New chapters every week on Tuesdays and Fridays for now! The story is episodic, with about 4 chapters per episode. So if you like a Saturday morning cartoon, this story is right up your alley. Marakar
Far from the exploration he yearned to go on, Rae, the Kijah prince, finds himself in the middle of the impending war between Kijah'dar and Ga'ani. Unknown to him, or to the rest of the states, the Kijah Magister plots to overthrow the queen, and he will stop at nothing to achieve his plans. Marakar is a fantasy adventure series about the island states of Mar’narana (with focus primarily on the two states, Kijah'dar and Ga'ani). Tensions between the big players are rising, with more and more plots getting revealed, and powers are unexpectedly shifting. As the string of seemingly unconnected events grows taut, the smaller nations suddenly find themselves into the midst of things, struggling with the sudden shifting of their boards. On a more meta note, I am trying to develop two storylines parallel to each other. As you might have noticed, odd-numbered chapters are very different from even-numbered chapters. That’s because those are the two different storylines; odd-numbered chapters are in the present, while even-numbered ones are in the past. Once the two eventually meet I'll continue with just the present storyline. This story can also be found here where it currently updates every other Sunday (about twice a month). Feedback is greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read. :) tw/cw list (please take care of your mental health! Don't force yourself to read these chapters if they may harm you). -------> Chapter 14: hate crime description.
