《Big Red Button.》Second push.

The button has been pushed.

Your hands are empty. You are wearing the jumpsuit. The button is intact.

The clothes are gone. Instead, the walls are lined with mirrors.

Oh sure, now that you have no use for a mirror, they give you one. Predictable.

Well, there’s nothing much else to do. Will you look at yourself?

You do. You walk up to a mirror and staaaaare into your eyes.

I think they’re very pretty.

People say eyes are the windows to the soul. I don’t think that’s quite true. Granted, eyes tell a lot, but that’s just a mixture of facial expressions. You can read those expressions while looking at the eyes, but it’s still just facial muscles. The actual fluid-filled orbs don’t show anything.

I hear you, being all smart, telling me about shifting eyes and the importance of eye contact. Sure, but that’s still muscles. You aren’t looking into the pupil to see the soul. All you see in a pupil is black. Unless, y’no, you’re an optometrist who has one of those special magnifying thingies. In which case I don’t know what you see, but I’d bet it’s not a soul.

Moving on from the eyes, what else do you see? Yourself.

No, I’m not going to describe you. Like I said before, I’ll get something wrong, and you’ll complain.

Unless you’re a vampire, of course, in which case you see nothing. I doubt you’re a vampire tho. They’re surprisingly rare.

You know what you look like. Statistically, you probably don’t particularly like something about how you look.

But you aren’t narcissistic enough to stare at yourself for hours on end. Mirrors bore you. Who cares what you look like? Besides, that jumpsuit isn’t particularly flattering to your shape. You don’t need to see what I’m looking at. It would just make you mad.

You look at the button. It still smells like “Crisp Waters”. It’s still red.

You kneel down and look at it closely. You flick it a few times. It doesn’t move at all; it seems to be very well placed in the aluminum housing. The aluminum doesn’t move at all, no matter what you do to it.

Finally you put your ear to the ground next to the button, listening. You hear nothing.

...You do hear something? A rhythmic thumping? ...Odd. I have zero clue as to where it's coming from. But other than that, you hear nothing.

DO YOU PRESS THE BUTTON? Yes No
