Solo Player Arvin Chapter 116

At the end of the tunnel when Arvin and Xander's men took a right they were greeted with a very noisy crowd. The crowd was cheering and cursing at the beasts that were fighting in the arena. One of the beasts was what looked like a big ass scorpion. While the other beast looked like a dog. And a very ragged dog.
Seeing those beasts fight Arvin started feeling nervous. It was very logical to assume that this place is an illegal animal fighting ring. And as right now he was in the form of the Cougar, this meant that Arvin was brought here was as a fighting contender. That meant that Arvin was in deep shit right now.
The goons of Arvin started following Xander that was walking towards the other end of the fighting arena. So Arvin also had to follow them. Through the crowd, Arvin and his group soon reached the other end. There were two bulky-looking female fennec foxes were standing with sabers in both of their hands. Xander then stepped forward and started speaking…
"Could you tell Gust that Xander from the Aurora Clan is here to meet him?" Xander spoke to one of the fennec foxes.
Hearing the name of the Aurora Clan, one of the foxes went inside. And after three minutes or so she came back out. She then spoke…
"Only you and the beast is allowed to go in. The rest of you had to stay out." She said. Listening to her, Xander looked at his men and gestured to them that it is ok to stay out.
Then Xander took the leash of the Arvin and walked inside. As they walked inside they were greeted with some stairs. Xander and Arvin started walking up the stairs and came out of the room. On the front side of the room, there was glass from which one could see the arena from above.
The middle-aged man was sitting on a sofa by the glass. That middle-aged man was wearing shiny clothes. While on either side of that man were two men that were latching on to that man like a lost child. Arvin noticed later the there were four other female fennec foxes stationed on every corner of the room ready to leap into action any time.

Xander approached that man and said…
"Mr. Gust, it is a pleasure to meet you," Xander said. Without even looking back, that Gust guys spoke to Xander…
"Yeah Yeah… Pleasure is all mine… Could we cut to chase Xander? I am a little bit intrigued by the fight down there." Gust said.
"I thought that you already knew the purpose of my visit," Xander said.
"Yeah, I know. You want that piece of the jade that crazy old man sold here. Right?" Gust said.
"Yes. That is it, sir." Xander said.
"You see Xander, I was originally was willing to give that piece to you. But I have been offered a quite good deal by someone else. So I don't think that I would be able to sell you that piece." Gust said.
"But sir we had an agreement? Are you going back on your word?" Xander asked angrily.
"Yes. I am going back on my word." Gust said ignoring the angered voice of Xander.
"Consider this again sir. You would become enemies with the Aurora clan because of this." Xander said.
"Are you threatening me punk?" Gust said while finally turning back.
As soon as he did an unknown pressure fell on bot Xander and Arvin. That pressure felt like that someone had increased the gravitational force that was acting on them. Because of this pressure, Arvin and Xander both of their bodies touched the ground.
But Arvin was soon relieved from the pressure, but Xander was still lying on the ground. Looking at the condition of Xander thanked the lady luck that he was not facing the same faith as him. Gust then glared at Xander…
"You are welcome to stay here and play some bets. And if not then get your ass out of this establishment. And tell your leader that I liked your gift. I would be taking the kitten. Leave him here and fuck off." Gust barked.
Then the pressure on Xander dissipated and he was able to stand up again. Xander then let go of the chain and then went down the stairs. He was pissed when he left. Gust when saw that Xander had left he turned back towards the arena. While both the men by the sides of Gust started biting his ears seductively.

"Send the message to the Grahmin clan. Tell them that Xander is here. So the deal will be postponed by one hour." Gust said...
Arvin was free, so he thought that maybe he would be able to sneak out. But then one of the bodyguards came and took his chain. And then started pulling him. Then that fox dragged him to a room that was further underground than the arena. In that room, various kinds of beasts were kept in cages.
That fox threw Arvin in a cage and walked out of the room…
The whole purpose of coming here was to get to know the purpose of Xander's visit to Palm springs. And now he knew it. Based on how Xander was speaking and the Gust talk, it was very safe to assume that the jade piece that these guys were talking about was the piece of the key of El Dorado.
And people of Grahmin that were here to visit Gust must be that black fennec fox. As now Arvin had a chance so he decided that it would be better to get his hands on that key. So Arvin started looking around. There were some people present in this room filled with beasts. But as he saw that no one was looking, he transformed into a fly and flew away from there…
…
Arvin found an empty room where he got dressed and came out of the room. He was in disguise as the middle-aged man with a cruel face. Now fully disguised, Arvin started wandering in the crowd. He started blending the crowd. Now all he had to do was wait for the black fox to make its appearance.
Arvin waited and waited and finally that black fennec fox made his appearance after two hours of wait. She was dressed in all black and was and was covering her face. But Arvin was still recognized her by seeing her curvaceous body.
She went inside the special room and soon came out of the room empty hands. Arvin assumed that she must have a space ring with her. So now all he had to do was to get his hands on that ring. While blending in the crowd he started following her.
But then he remembered that it would be difficult for him to follow her as the only way to get out of here was the tunnel from which they came in. So Arvin ran fast as he can towards an empty room. There he transformed into a fly and started flying straight towards the exit…
As Arvin came out of the pothole he had lost sight of the fox. But he didn't get demotivated with it. He started flying higher and transformed into an eagle. So while flying in the sky he started looking for her. And with the help of the good eyesight of the eagle, it was pretty easy to find her.
As Arvin found her, he started thinking that he should follow her. And then he would steal that ring when they were alone. But then he noticed that few men were following her. Arvin couldn't tell it from up above but those men seemed hostile to the fox.
And soon enough that fox conjured a magic circle and fired it towards one of the men that were following her. She must have realized that she was being followed. After firing that magic circle, she started running. She got into a shop got vanished out of Arvin's sight.
Arvin decreased his altitude to see what was happening. And when he got down he started to hear loud crashes. That fox was making a trail of destruction from shop to shop. Seeing the reckless behavior of that fox, Arvin gritted his teeth.
He gritted his teeth because from the air he would not be able to follow her. He had to get down and then start following her on foot. And that would complicate things a little bit…
Arvin descended from the sky and transformed back into a human and started following the trail of destruction left behind by the black fox. While running he wore the golden mask. And he also started taking out his battle gear. Because the thing had started escalating. And he may need some backup.
Eventually, Arvin came close to the sounds of loud crashes. As he got close to the battle his heart started beating faster and faster.

I try to do a few reviews before posting, but I'm still learning. If you find any errors or have constructive criticism, please tell me! I will be happy if you leave comments. Content warning information: this story includes lots of killing of different sentient beings, but it doesn't have explicit gore. I still put a content warning, because it's better to be safe than sorry. It also contains a few profane words here and there... No sex scenes or traumatic content, I'll try to keep it positive.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
