Chapter 57- Birthday
“Yu Yu, what did you wish for?” Shan Yijun asked curiously. Chen daiyu smiled at him.
“If I tell you it won’t come true” She teased. Understanding, Shan Yijun nodded and covered his mouth. Chen daiyu and the rest laughed.
That day, they had a good time they won’t ever forget.
By the time the servants finished cleaning, it was already dark. Chen Daiyu and the company washed up and went to play Go.
“Yu yu, why don’t you invite your little friends to your birthday?” Old man Shan told her. Chen Daiyu was struck with confusion… wasn’t the birthday party already finished?
As if knowing what she was thinking, Chen Feng patted her head. “Today’s party is only for us. The next week’s party are for you and your friends”
“Don’t birthdays only last for a day?” she asked in confusion.
“Who said you can’t have exceptions?” Chen Feng smiled. Her eyes widened, she thought that having birthdays like these are already too good to be true. In her past life, she didn’t even know the date of her birth, let alone celebrate.
“T-then I’ll invite Lihua, Big brother Shanxi-” just as she was about to continue her list, Chen Feng cut her off.
“Who is Big brother Shanxi?” Chen Feng asked with a cold expression.
Lu JI, who was courting death as always, got mischievous.
“Are you two very close?”
“Yeah, we study in the library after eating lunch”
When Chen Daiyu said that, Chen Feng’s face darkened and he turned to look at Lu Ji saying, “Looks like you’ve been free lately… why don’t you go to Ah Lam island?”
[Ah Lam means peace]
Contrary to its name, the island is full of chaos and is currently taken over by terrorists. Their unit was assigned to get back the island and apprehend the terrorist dead or alive.

But there was one big problem.
Civilians living on that island were often taken hostage. Even if Chen Feng issued orders to kill terrorists, there was no guarantee that the terrorists would not disguise themselves as civilians and ambush them.
“…You can’t issue orders based on personal grudges….” Lu Ji reasoned but was faltering under Chen Feng’s gaze.
“I’ve been commander of your unit for 3 years and is known for being impartial. What are you trying to say”
It wasn’t a question, Lu Ji was already giving in.
“Daddy, we’re having a second party… i don’t want uncle Lu to be absent”
Lu Ji: My angel!
“I Can’t… after all, i’m not someone giving orders based on personal agenda”
Lu Ji: Devil!!

Don't expect a power-leveling fantasy, in which the lone hero beats up all the bad guys, and gets a harem of women. There's just a guy who treats character creation like an annoying series of pop-up advertisements, and the story is basically the ramifications of that. The main character has to learn to take the world he's found himself in seriously, and he'll learn the way most of us do, by doing it wrong first. This is, insofar as it is successful, a dark comedy fantasy. Also a bit of horror, particularly but not exclusively body horror. I'm pretty sure I've earned those Content Warning tags, so, uh, yeah. This is practice. Hopefully things improve as I go, and figure out what I'm doing wrong, but I make no guarantees things will ever get better. I've already made mistakes, I'll make more, and I'm happy to notice them each time I make them. You don't improve unless you fail. (On the plus side, it probably won't get much worse.) Feel free to point out anything you think I'm doing wrong; I don't promise to change anything, particularly if it's a matter of taste, but I am looking to improve, and figuring out what I need to improve goes faster if I don't have to try to figure it out myself. I've updated the earlier chapters for formatting, in the hope that it would make everything easier to read on mobile devices. Hopefully things work slightly better now, but please let me know if there are any issues anywhere.
