After making love and having dinner and then making love again through the night, Neil and Mi Rae finally fell asleep in the morning. After catching a few hours of shut eye,Neil and Mi Rae were both rushing to get to the office. Neither wanted to go but they had no option. As soon as Mi Rae reached her office she was confronted by her assistant who seemed to have still not recovered from shock.What Mi Rae did not know was that the poor assistant had received another shock.As Mi Rae sat in her chair,the assistant brought forward the hand tablet in her hand for Mi Rae to browse the latest news.After reading Mi Rae also looked to be in shock..That was pretty anti climatic!She had been expecting to fight tooth and nail and the opposition showed the white flag already!She scanned the declaration that her previous employers had published and stared at it in speechlessness.It seems the company had published a public apology for her and all previous employees for the bias they had suffered.The blamed it all on Director Lee and the HR manager,claiming to be unaware of the serious crisis bubbling beneath the surface.They even claimed that they would be approaching her for an out of court settlement and that she would be adequately compensated.

Below the published apology,many people had left comments.Some were accolading the company for taking action against the offenders as well as giving a public apology.Some feminists were passing comments about how the company had aved itself by sacrificing a couple of employees.There were few who were cursing the female work force for trying to demand equal rights.But the end result was the same..The apology was the latest trending topic and many people were urging her to accept the apology and the compensation.Mi Rae wanted to boil with rage!How dare they!They really wanted to avoid going to court it seemed!By giving this public apology they were trying force her handby swaying public opinion.If she accepted the compensation,there would later be allegations that this was all done to blackmail the company.And if she did not,then she would be the unreasonable female who did not know how to forgive!Mi Rae wanted to bash those people in the head.

There was one thing that was troubling her that she could not find an answer to."Why?Why were they so unwilling to go to court?"

Her mumbled question to herself was heard by the assistant who answered,"It is because of your boyfriend."

Mi Rae looked up in apparent confusion,"When did they start talking about Neil?",she thought.

The assistant looked at her boss' confused face and wondered how this ditzy woman had become a successful lawyer?In a conspirational voice she explained,"Attorney Zheng.Your boyfriend is the reason they are trying to settle out of court.Have you forgotten his reputation?Even if this law firm is the biggest in the country,there are enough competitors that it would not survive it's license being suspended...even if it is only for six months."

Mi Rae's eyes widened and her mouth fell open,"Huh?What are you talking about?"

The assistant opened her mouth and then closed it.Maybe Attorney Zheng had lost a few brain cells from yesterday's incident.Going to her desk,she picked up the copy of the notice that had been sent out to the company and highlighted the last clause in the notice and handed the papers to her boss.Mi Rae took the paper and her eyes went even more wide if that was possible!If she had been a cartoon character,her eyes would now be hanging out of their sockets by a spring!There in plain words,Neil Long had demanded that as compensation,the firm's license be suspended for six months for not maintaining the dignity of the law and also put under observation for not maintaining high moral ground!Ha!Now she knew what the fuss was about!Though the demand was preposterous,the fact that Neil had put in the clause meant that he meant business.And Neil Long was known for usually getting the compensations he wanted..No compromises.Of course the company was scared!Heck even she was scared and he was in her side!

She looked appropriately shocked as she stared at her assistant.Her voice shaking,Mi Rae asked,"Is this the reason you left that place?"

The assistant shook her head and explained,"I had already turned in my resignation when you left but this notice was served when I was finishing my notice.Though this news was suppressed internally,an assistant of a director is a good friend of mine so she told me.Either ways,your leaving gave many people courage to stand against the wrongdoings of the company.And now this apology is going to set a benchmark.You will forever be etched in the memories of the people for standing against such a big company!"The assistant nodded in pride as she said this!She really was proud for having such an excellent boss!After this she let her boss have sometime to recuperate from the shock and left to sit outside.
