"Are you really pretending to not know me?",the man asked incredulously.

When he received no response,Alex Xu went ahead and tried to grab her hand saying,"Sister in law..."

He was pushed back the moment his hand touched and he almost fell but balanced himself at the last moment.

A cold voice then said,"Mr Xu,I am not your sister in law.You should have backed off when I gave you a chance to."

Alex Xu had realized his mistake the moment he uttered those words.But he had no way of taking back what was already said.Be it past or present.

Bending a bit at waist,Alex Xu said,"I apologize Ms Lu.Old habits die hard.How have you been doing?"

"Mr.Xu,I have no interest in talking to you.Please take the hint.Now all I can say is Get Lost."

"Ms Lu,please..I've been looking for you for so long now.I have felt guilty over the past.I just wanted to apologize for what I did back then.I...I tried to find you after that incident but it was as if you disappeared...even that old man refused to tell me..."

Alicia's fingers curled at the thought of the past.She hated this man even more than she hated her ex husband.This man was a coward and a back stabber.She had trusted him and treated him like a little brother but he had misused that trust.In front of the whole town,this man was the one who had helped his older brother in ruining her reputation.He had pretended to be nice and sympathetic but in reality he was orchestrating her downfall.With an indifferent voice,Alicia said,"if you really anted to apologize you should have given an apology in the national newspaper or even announced it at the town fair...Mr Xu,you insulted me publicly but would like to apologize in private...that is not how the world works.If you are really that apologetic then I suggest please leave and live in guilt...nothing would make me happier than seeing you suffer.Goodbye."

"Sis...I mean Ms Lu,mother is not well...I have brought her here for her treatment.Won't you come and see her at least?"

"Mr. Xu,you really are a heartless man.Do you think I have any love and respect left for your mother?She can rot in hell for all I care.But I'll tell you what?Give her my wishes to get well soon since she has yet to reap the rewards of what she sowed....Be grateful that I am injured otherwise you would have to find a bed for yourself in this huge hospital.Now shoo."With this she swatted her hands towards the man who was staring at her still.At this moment Nurse Mo appeared.Alicia breathed a sigh of relief and said to Nurse Mo with a smile,"Nurse Mo,I think there are too many mosquitoes here.Let us go back inside..We will come later."

Nurse Mo looked at Alicia with a weird expression but soon realized that the man standing there must be pestering her.After all this Madam was really beautiful.Agreeing with her Nurse Mo nodded and said,"Yes Madam." and turned the wheel chair to head back inside.

Alex Xu watched the woman being wheeled in.He knew what he had done was wrong.But why did she not understand his place.His brother was on one side and she on the other.He had thought that his brother only wanted to separate from her so Alex agreed to lie and said that she was seducing him but it was only later that he realized his brother's nefarious plans..By then it had been too late...But she was right...He had humiliated her in front of everyone...But did he have the guts to confess the truth in front of everyone?Lying was easy,and telling the truth too difficult.

What Alex Xu had not yet realized was the fact that on one side had stood the truth and the other side stood deceit and he had chosen to stand on the side of deceit.His dye was cast now there was no point in regretting the past.He could only wait for his punishment.Maybe if he gathered the strength to confess,his punishment would be lessened.
