Unlucky?Player Chapter 164

"Haaah" Luke groaned as he stretched his body. "I've been playing for too long these days....I guess Liam should be back. Might as well have the conversation with him right now. Hmm?" Luke turned around and looked at Nate who was still in-game, it seems like the battle against the monsters wasn't exactly all too easy.
'Wait a second...when I first met Hades, it showed me a bunch of notifications, why didn't it do the same for Loki and Hermes? What's so different? All of them are Divine Beings, though it seems like Loki is from a different mythology, however, Hermes is an Olympian as well so what went wrong with the notifications? Whatever man, guess Genesis isn't all that, but a part of me feels like that happened for a reason...'
Luke walked down the stairs as he thought of his past experiences with Divine Beings, perhaps the number of players who've come across or had experiences with such NPCs could be counted on one hand, at least as of this moment. Even the players who had a position in some sort of a church barely got to talk to the Pope, let alone their God. Such is the existence of the Divine.
'Now that I think about it, I don't think I've seen any players in the Church of Artemis. I barely see players maybe I should stick around Aeternum and the Imperial Kingdom a little more. Though I quite enjoy the company of the NPCs....'
"Come here my little bigshot!!!" a voice thundered throughout the living room. Even with all the skills Luke had, he couldn't dodge the person jumping at him. Well, it was more like he didn't want to.
"Woah! Ouch???? Lisanna, that kinda hurts you know?" Luke said as he tried to put some gap between his neck and his sister's arm. "And what even is "little bigshot"? That doesn't make sense,"
"Hoh? So you've become big enough to talk back to me huh? I remember when you were just a kid, you were so cute and fluffy back then," Lisanna pouted as she pulled Luke's cheeks, "but now you're all grown up, and since you're a celebrity you think you can ignore me??"
"Alright alright, I'll treat you to dinner sometime soon okay?"

"Done!!! That's a deal!!"
"Oh, where's mum and dad by the way? And Liam??"
"Well, they've gone out, it's literally noon, stop playing so much, you'll suffer from some sickness. Liam, I'm not sure, he hasn't come back from the event yesterday. Who would've thought both of my brothers are some kind of bigshots in the game. Maybe I should start as well huh?" Lisanna said as she winked at her brother.
'So he's not back home huh? Wonder what happened..'
"You totally should, it's super fun, you work for some big cooking company thingy, right? I'm surprised they haven't asked you to play the game yet. I'll help you out once you start, anyway, I'm off!" Luke said as he kissed his sister on the cheek, before running out of the house, the sound of his sister saying something echoed in the background as he continued running.
"I should get some food, I have not eaten for quite some time I feel like. I really need to get my mind off the game for a bit, I need to complete the class change quest as soon as possible, there's that and the quest about Master's best friend, urgh but it's fine I guess...hmm?" as Luke continued walking down the streets, he saw a very peculiar looking car approaching him.
It was pitch black, while there wasn't anything unusual about it, the windows were tinted and there wasn't any number plate. The streets were eerily empty, Luke was probably the only one there, which considering the fact that it was in the afternoon, added to the suspicion. Other than a few people in the alleys, there was practically no one that could come forward as witnesses in case a crime was committed.
The van slowly approached and crossed Luke, however, just before it passed him, a single hand crept out of the window and a flier was thrown at him. There was no doubt about it, this could only be for Luke.
'Was there someone who was looking for me? There had to have been someone watching the house'
He wasn't particularly worried, perhaps it was the subconscious trust in himself but Luke didn't assume he was in trouble. He could probably even escape the van rushing at him without any real effort.

"It's unfortunate that you messed with the wrong set of people
However, you need not worry about that. Just wait and you'll get
What you deserve for fcking around so much"
"....."
"What a joke pfttt" Luke chuckled as he tore up the flier and threw it in the dumpster ahead.
"Boss....he didn't take it seriously. He uh....tore it up and threw it in the dumpster. Yes, yes of course. No, this won't happen again. It was just a simple warning boss.... I understand..." a man in a mask continued talking to someone on the phone.
He was sitting on comfortable Italian leather seats and the mask covered his entire face. Naturally, this man was one of the people inside the black van. Naturally, it's not as if he could go out and fight Luke, even though he believed he could take on Luke, the order from the higherups was to only threaten him, and just like rules of most of the organization, the one the man belonged to had a few core principals and one of them was to listen to the higher-ranks no matter what.
"Just give me the word boss, I'll drag him by the collar and get him to you. I promise I won't fail you.....I understand..." the man grit his teeth, it was clear that this "boss" of his denied his request, however, the reason for this was not known.
"Turn around the car, we're going to get the kid," the man growled as soon as the call was cut.
"Sir....was it approved by the boss?"
"Are you questioning my competency? Of course, this was approved by the boss,"
"I-i apologize....at once sir"
Honestly, if a picture of the man ordering the driver to turn around was taken then it would definitely end up under the "pictures taken moments before disaster" list. There were a total of 4 people inside the black van, and all of them were more or less trained professionals. After all, only the competent were allowed into such shady organizations.
"Hmmmm? Urgh, they just don't give up do they?" Night groaned to himself as he looked at the Van reapproaching him. "I am actually more surprised they were serious about the threat and shit, who would've thought someone would actually, seriously, use such a method?"
"Oh woop," Luke said as he jumped to the side, simply dodging the van without any effort.
*SKKKRRTT*
It came to a sudden halt and a man with a full mask stepped and walked towards Luke, since he was on the floor, this was essentially the best time to strike. However, just like everyone, this man too underestimated Luke. As soon as he was within an arm's length, Luke swept his leg and brought the man to his butt.
'He's good!' the man thought as he fell to his but, however, just this much was nowhere near enough to get him, at least that's what he thought. The very next second, a punch came flying into his face and the only thing he could see was stars.
"....."
The other masked individuals who stepped out were in shock, the man who was currently knocked out was a rank higher than them and Luke took them out in two seconds. What could they do against someone who was capable of so much? Was this the reason why they were asked to stay away from him?
"Lucky right...he had to have been lucky with that right?"
A common phrase used by the bad guys, every time someone who underestimated Luke faces or witnesses his true capabilities, the next line that follows was almost always about luck being the cause of his skill.
"I would....guess so..." another one gulped.
Denial was common, especially in the face of something that should be feared, and currently, the only thing that could cause such a feeling was Luke. Meanwhile, Luke looked at his knuckles with a surprised look. The punch connected better than usual, almost as if he had improved in some way, but how? He hadn't practised much these days and the only thing he did was play Genesis.
"Did you guys see that?" Luke asked as he looked at the other individuals. Unfortunately, his words confirmed the suspicion of the others. After what was just said, it made sense that it could lead to a misunderstanding.
"No one saw that?? Please tell me someone saw that. That was beautiful,"

The Only Survivor
I want revenge. However, to get revenge, I need information. And for information, I need answers. Yet to get answers, I need power. But for power, I need to survive. They made a grave mistake leaving me alive and locking me in a dungeon cell. They will live to regret it. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ This is a story in a fantasy world with lots of fantastical elements, including magic and cultivation. However, there's also some decent technology in this world. Gaining power has a system and nothing comes out of nowhere. Essentially, the setting and background is high fantasy but the focus will be whatever the MC sees, so expect more of a gritty realistic low fantasy most of the time. The MC is not OP and uses his wits and strategy to survive, and maybe even thrive. The warning tags are just there because I don't want any limits to where this story may lead me to writing. *I don't own the cover*
