Unlucky?Player Chapter 134

"Let's begin," Nate said.
He summoned two fireballs in his hand and let them float in front of him. He did the same until there were two elemental balls from each of the four basic elements. What people failed to understand or what people misunderstood was that, just because someone could summon or use fire or any element, doesn't mean they had the ability to control the element.
Using the spell, Fireball, and controlling fire into a ball were two different things. Spells worked like a link to a website on the internet or a shortcut of an application. A mage simply says the word, "Fireball", to call forth the spell, there isn't a need to recall the structure or foundation of the spell. However, manipulating fire into a ball was different, because the user who has the ability to manipulate an element is capable of writing his own version of Fireball.
It didn't necessarily mean that manipulating fire into a ball was stronger than just saying the words Fireball. It fully depended on the user or the mage. The element simply followed the user's will and shaped itself accordingly. An example would be, a fireball created by someone who can manipulate elements, the spell could very well be hollow on the inside, drastically bringing down its damage potential. It all depended on the capability of the user.
'This again...how do I counter this' Mocha thought as he looked at the scary sight of the eight elemental balls revolving around his opponent. Nate shot them forward, they were aimed exactly at Mocha's chest.
'No time for buffs!'
"Fck" Mocha cursed out before using Vine Storm to counter the attack.
"You know, you really shouldn't be cursing, you're a saint after all," Nate chuckled.
More than a duel between two players or fighters, this seemed like a spar between two friends, they were joking around and teasing each other, Nate clearly had the advantage but it looked like Mocha wasn't bothered in the slightest, his grin never wavered for a second. He knew he would lose, there was practically no way he could beat this monster, especially as a player who uses mana or spells.
All Nate had to do was chant a single spell and it would more or less be over for him, not that he had the advantage right now, no matter what new strategy or technique he would attempt to implement, it would simply crumble under the massive firepower Nate dished out.

'Guess I should just go for it...' Mocha jumped back and raised his staff to block a water ball flying straight to his face.
"Realms blessing"
"Holy light"
"Warmth of the One"
"Cleanse"
"You ready now?" Nate joked. He let Mocha use the buffs in peace, the buffs were a huge part of Mocha's strength so in a way fighting him without it would mean Nate fought Mocha when he wasn't at his best, and that was something he could not live with.
"Saint's Lightning"
*CrAcKle*
It was a surprise. It most definitely caught Nate off guard. It wasn't only him though, the crowd was just as "shocked" to see Mocha use the lightning element. The lightning strike ruptured the air and hit Nate directly in the stomach.
*BAMMM*
Perhaps it was due to the element of surprise but that attack got him good. It took out nearly 30% of his health because of the direct connection. 'This motherfuc-'
"Hahaha, how'd you like that??" Mocha roared, "should've seen your face when you got hit, it was the funniest shit ever,"
"Whatever," Nate grumbled as he patted himself to get rid of any dust or dirt.
'That hurt like a bitch though....will I be able to learn that?? I mean it is magic right?? so maybe it is possible..' Nate smiled as his thoughts ran all over the place. It was a weird obsession but ever since he realized he could learn magic at an unusual rate, his yearning and need to learn was scary. It was a change, something he never had, but it was one of the only things that he was determined to see through to the end.
'Why is he smiling...' Mocha frowned. He was sure that Saints Lightning would catch his opponent off guard or at least mentally throw him off the track. However, by the looks of it, all the spell did was deal a little bit of damage and nothing else, in fact, it looked like Nate was further motivated by the spell.
'I can't anymore, these two are so alike, whatever'
"Oy, just finish me off," Mocha said as he dropped his staff and raised both his hands to surrender.
"Just don't cut off my hea-"
*Slice*
*Plop*
Nate only did what felt obvious to him, he sliced off Mocha's head with a mana blade. He now had two Milo heads to his name, Valerian and Layla's. However, it was different this time, he didn't really feel like cutting off his opponent's head. He was just excited and really looked forward to his match with Night.

"Come on man....did you really have to cut my head off?" Valerian whispered as he shook Nate's hand.
"Sorry sorry, I was just excited for the next match and wasn't really thinking.." Nate answered with a hand behind his head.
"Haah...fine, anyway, you're just gonna have to remain here. Good luck, oh and just so you know, people think you have the advantage in the next fight,"
"You guys are wrong. At least whoever thinks that way is. There seems to be a misunderstanding. Whatever you've seen him use so far is nothing but his basic attacks. I'm telling you this because we're all friends. Sure, he did need to use his mana for a few tricks but the majority of his attacks were nothing but simple basic attacks."
"You may think I'm some kind of a genius but you should know that he's crossed the human barrier. He grows in battle, it would be explainable if that was all but that's not the case. Every minute that passes, he's growing, regardless of where he is, that is just the kind of being he is. Against his fight with Ken, every move you've seen there was a new trick he wanted to try out. He was simply stalling to maximize the excitement he felt, that's all."
"So, the crowd is wrong if they think I have an advantage...I'm the bane of every magic user in a way. What about him? a player who doesn't really need to use magic??"
"..."
"I'm sorry if that was a lot of information..." Nate mumbled.
"No, no...I was aware of the fact that he has something that is different from the rest of us but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. However, thanks to you, I know now. And don't worry nobody shall know." Valerian reassured as he patted Nate's shoulder.
"Well anyway, it is time I take my leave, he's here already,"
"I understand thank you.."
"Oy! Nate!"
"Shut the fck up man, we're in a public place jeez.." Nate whispered as he elbowed Luke.
"Ow ow..okay...just say that next time...anyway what were yall talking about?" he asked while rubbing the side of his chest.
'I don't see any reason to not tell him. Besides, I am sure he would be fine with the fact I told Valerian.' Nate thought about Luke's question before he answered it.
"Nothing really, just a little bit about you. I was telling him how all your attacks so far were just basic attacks and not spells."
"Oh, you told him that? that's cool"
"Yeah. You should've seen his face though ahahah,"
"Erm...I hate to interrupt such a lively conversation but we need to start the final match now..." Reed whispered hoping to knock some sense into the two who were idly chattering away, completely ignoring the gazes of the crowd.
"Of course!! we apologize!" Nate said while bowing.
'Fck! this bastard is going to get me killed one day...I can't believe I picked up that stupid habit of his.'
It was time. Nate and Luke went to their respective capsules and waited before entering. For a second both of them shared the same thought.
'Look how far we've come..'
But they knew, it wasn't the end. It was nowhere close to the end. Their match was perhaps going to be the biggest highlight of the entire event. Perhaps. However, that was just exciting. More than the crowd, Luke and Nate were excited, they knew very well it wasn't the time and place to show off their Primordial abilities but just the thought that two Primordial Bloodline carriers were facing off each other.
"Nate...let's put up a good show okay?"
"Just a good show? hmm. Here I expected more from The Anamoly."
"Oh? Do you know what the crowd has for you? they're calling you The Prodigy"
"What??? Why didn't I know about this??"
"Whatever, Mr. Prodigy. Just shut up and come at me."

Gateway
An archaeologist by the name of Søren Quinn wakes up elsewhere after boarding a plane for Iceland. Now he has to come to terms with a significant loss of recent memory and his apparent death and rebirth, provided he can survive the rigors of the Tutorial on Gateway Station and whatever waits for him after the Tutorial. Updates. When I can... sorry. Author's Note. Gateway is a portal/isekai style GameLit novel, but it has two main lead characters and will eventually have a small cast of minor lead characters to support them. There will be small elements of base building / kingdom management added as well over time, but they will not be the focus. Gateway really is a slow burn that takes some time to get going unfortunately, but I hope you find it's worth the wait. Thank you! p.s. Book One is finally done (only needed one more chapter unfortunately...) but I'm off hiatus now and will be starting on Book Two right away!

Apparently, even heaven had the odd clerical error. Which was not something Nathaniel Miller would have expected, and yet, that seemed to be exactly what had happened to him. The collector of souls seemed to have been given the wrong address, and instead of taking one Nathaniel Miller of the earth apparently right next door, he took Nate. As recompense for this small bit of error Nate was placed in the body of the Nathaniel Miller that had supposed to have been taken in the first place, and seeing as he now had an opportunity to try to live his life a different way he planned on taking advantage of this chance. No one, however, had specified how different this world would be from his, sure they had said the tech would be a little older, and there were other small anomalies. But no one had seen fit to let him know that older meant medieval, and those small anomalies mentioned? They probably referred to all the fantasy elements and magic that seemed to be part of this world. Still, he was determined to do better this time around, after all, chances like this were next to unheard of...

Live by the Sword
--Follow a bandit prone to making poor choices in life. He lives in a somewhat medieval age where steel is king, blood is shed fairly lightly, and weakness gets you punished fast. But that's okay. As long as he has his sword, he'll be fine. Right? --This story is tragic and contains some depictions of violence and nudity. The attitudes of the characters don't represent my views and some of them are highly questionable. Due to these reasons, I've flagged the story as adult content. --I've been working on Live by the Sword since as far back as 2012 and it is my first actual effort at completing a book. Maybe I'll stick with it and there will be paperbacks of it some day. Who knows. Either way, I hope the words I tell give you amusement and perhaps some cause to think. Cheers.
