Unlucky?Player Chapter 95

"Oh right...I'll message Nate and see what he wanted to talk about, can't believe I forgot," Night said as he opened up his friend list to text Nate.
"Yo," he sent.
"Yoo," Nate replied instantly almost as if he was waiting for Night to text.
"You wanted to talk to me right?? I'm sorry I forgot about that...if you're free right now then..."
"Ah no shuttup, you're good, yeah sure, I'm free, where are you right now??"
The two of them spoke for a while, it turned out that Nate wasn't too far from Night, but he saved the explanation as to how he got there for when they met in-game, it would be better if he could see Night's reaction. While the voice transmission system was another element of Genesis that stood out, it was still better to talk 'in person', the system works the same way as long-ranged telepathy, of course, it wasn't actually that, but it worked in a similar way. However, it was always better to say something important in person than over-call.
As Night walked he wondered about the different entrances, he was currently in the mid-region or mid circle of the Norse Kingdom, of course, he wouldn't know any of this if not for his conversation with Sir Njal, the 20th Einherjari himself. In fact, there was no way to tell if he was actually in the mid-region, other than a board at the entrance that separates the outer and mid-region, there wasn't anything else.
The Kingdom itself was beautiful and loud, with the sounds of chattering and hammering or swords clashing filling the streets, and the sweet stench of mead and roasted delicacies. The streets were properly guarded but crime as a whole was quite rare in the Kingdom, other than a few criminals who were well known throughout the continent, however, it wasn't serious or difficult to deal with.

When Night first walked into the Kingdom, he entered the mid-region directly, not the outer region, the division of the Kingdom wasn't how he thought it was when he first heard about the different regions, Night assumed that the Norse left the weak or powerless people to the outer region, however, this wasn't the case, the kingdom didn't throw aside its people, though it may seem like it because of the power difference of the regions. The people of the outer regions were living a happy and simple life as well, of course, the closer the region to the central region the better the facilities available but that didn't mean the far-off ones were done for.
Night only managed to enter the mid-region directly because he took the difficult path, he entered through Tokihiko, a land which can't be crossed by just any traveler, of course, otherwise, no Kingdom would allow direct entry into its mid-region, at least no Kingdom with sense would do so.
"Hmm, he's probably in the outskirts of the Kingdom or maybe, he isn't even in the Kingdom...well thankfully, I'm just a bit away from the outer-region, so maybe it'll take me a day to reach there? guess I'll just level up my skills on the go," Night said as he formed two small spheres, one was clear blue and the other was dark black, the two small spheres twirled around and played with each other in his palm. Night continued his path while he controlled the two spheres, this way he would be able to train his skills and move around.

"What do I even do....I'm trash, I'm trash...IM UTTER TRASH!," Kira screamed as he stabbed his sword into the ground, he was recalling the events that occurred so far. Throughout his journey, he only suffered losses, even though he played earnestly and worked hard, he lost. First, he was completely beaten by Night in the race to level 100, and then some unknown trash beat him as well, of course, this unknown trash was the same person that PK'd him and stole his boss as well, but he didn't know that they were the same person.

"Even with all this money, with all my achievements.... I have everything, riches, women, respect, power, looks but I still lost...why...why..." Kira said as he punched the ground, teardrops rolled down his cheeks and slowly fell.
"Night...I respect you...truly, you beat me, I don't know how but you did and I admit I lost, but know this.....I will come back, I'll work on myself, I'll sharpen my blade and cut through the wall that stands between us, no matter how high you climb, I'll follow....... for starters, I think it's time I understand the essence of an Arcane Knight, and as for that bastard that dared to PK me...count your days, I will kill you one day, no matter who you are... I will kill you." Kira said as he looked up into the sky, his tears now reflecting the sunlight, his expression would confuse anyone who saw him, he had a huge smile on his face but his eyes showed determination and anger.

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
