Unlucky?Player Chapter 40

"The... Guardian.." Mocha said.
"This is a mess, we can't die here or we'll respawn in Linto," said Layla.
The developers understood the fact that traveling just like everything in Genesis was realistic and difficult so to give the traveling lovers a small bonus, they made sure that when players get killed they respawn in the last settlement they've visited and not the beginners village.
"But how do we kill the Guardian... I'm not sure if we can" said Leo.
"Night...now that the situation is a little complicated... I think its the best option for us to group up and to make it easier for us your Guardian, Shade should be a huge asset, I'm not sure how big the debuff was from when he became your subject but I'm assuming he's still a force to be reckoned with...so? what do you say?"
After thinking about it for a minute, Night nodded, which made the group smile as they realized that they now had a good chance to beat the Guardian but after what Night said next their excited expression turned into a sad one.
"No," Night said while nodding, surprising everyone there including Shade.
"I see.. of course, you wouldn't want to risk fighting the Guardian... unders-" before Mocha could finish Night interrupted him, "you misunderstand me, I said 'no' to us fighting together because I'm going to kill the Guardian alone."

Everyone there was shook, Shade even started sweating, confused, and now panicking after what his Lord just said.
"That's right..now then if you guys could please step back," Night said with a smile before releasing his aura.
The others unconsciously stepped back, they were overwhelmed after seeing the aura,

"He's.. a GrandMaster... the anomaly.. he's a GrandMaster.. the class that was deemed to be the worst.." Noxx muttered after seeing Night's weapon aura.
"A monster... how is he able to use his weapon aura that well..." Aurora said in a surprised tone.
"MY LORD, PLEASE RECONSIDER, I'M NOT UNDERESTIMATING YOUR STRENGTH BUT PERHAPS THIS FIGHT MIGHT BE ONE THAT MASTER SHOULDN'T TAKE."
Shade screamed hoping he'd convince his lord, but all he got was a smile and a pat on his head.
"Shade, if I die, I respawn but if something happens to you, then..." Night smiled,
"Trust me, I got this, promise me you won't interfere, you do trust me right?"
After looking down for a bit, Shade looked at Night and said, "My Lord, I trust you with every fiber of my body. I promise you that I won't interfere nor will I let anyone else interfere"
Night then turned to the Guardian and inspected it.
Guardian of Kriol
Level 100
Grade: Uncommon
Hp: 200,000
Skills:
King of Beasts(passive): When the user's Hp reaches 5%, every single beast in the vicinity is called to assist the user.
Body of the jungle: Nullifies all ranged attacks and reduces Physical damage by 50%
Shatter Stomp: Shatters the ground around the user(10-meter radius). Damage 500% of PhyDmg and 500% of MagDmg. Cooldown: 1 hour.
It was a terrifying skill set, especially the defensive skill, it completely nullified all ranged attacks and reduced all Physical damage by 50%
As soon as he saw the skills, Night shouted, "Everyone GET BACK NOW!", if they were even a second later they would've all died, the surroundings were now all crushed after the Guardian used its skill, the trees that once existed were now flattened making the place look like a clearing in a forest.

Night could deal around 1000 every time he hit the Guardian, which meant he only had to hit it, 200 times, the thought of hitting the Guardian 200 times sent shivers down his spine, even if the group was to help they couldn't, as they only had ranged DPS.
The second he landed on the ground, Night shot forward and slice multiple times before he reached the Guardian, the others around him were barely on their feet but Night was already attacking the Guardian, everyone including Shade were intrigued, this was the first time they've seen Night fight seriously, of course, other than Shade nobody saw Night fight casually as well.
Just before he reached the Guardian's feet, he jumped up and changed to his spear, thrusting it through the spikes just as the sword slices crashed into the Guardian's sides.
-2000,-2000,-2000,-2000,-2000.
"Huh? but doesn't the skill block ranged damage?" Night muttered before he realized that weapon aura was a part of him and does not fall under 'ranged damage'
"Perhaps...aura doesn't count as Physical damage? my spear was covered with my aura as well... is that why?.... I get it now" Night smirked as he realized the Guardian could be killed in half the time he originally needed.
The guardian used its tail to sweep Night off as he was falling on the ground but just before it could hit him, he decided to get as much damage as possible since he couldn't dodge it. With the help of Dawn's bow and the buffs it gives during the daytime, he managed to hit it another 5 times.
-2000,-2000,-2000,-2000,-2000.
Just then the tail slammed into Night sending him flying, he went rolling, however, the damage was greatly reduced thanks to Night's defensive aura surrounding his body but the damage was still too much for a basic attack.
-5000
"MY LORD," Shade cried but before he could take a step forward he heard the Guardian cry out in pain.
-2000,-2000,-2000,-2000,-2000.
Even while getting thrown, Night managed to get 5 shots in, bringing its health to 170k/200k.
"Just..what...I couldn't even normally dodge or even attack, if not for his first warning I would've...surely died..." said Leo.
The others were too stunned to even reply, their eyes were wide open as they saw the skill Night was displaying, of course, they even noticed the low damage and assumed Night put all his stat points into DEX which would explain his reactions but that was only the group trying to deny reality.
"Sheesh, the bastard got me, well that was expected," Night said while smiling as he looked at the Guardian wailing in pain and confusion.

The Stories We Told In the Dark
6/19/21: not abandoned, taking this back up again but reworking older chapters first! The planet Tellus is dying and humanity’s last hope is finding other planets that are capable of sustaining human life. Valentine is one of many orphans who were forced into a state program and experimented upon to enhance their strength, intelligence, and magical capabilities. They have been chosen to lead humanity out into space, guiding and protecting them as they gather resources and rebuild their population so that they may someday return home. But the very procedures meant to prepare them for the challenges ahead cause them to become despised and feared and looked upon as something monstrous. *** Updated biweekly on Tuesdays. [Schedule is currently a bit borked due to poor health, looking to finish up the first section of this book by the end of the year then back to a regular schedule in January] This is a kitchen sink space opera. It originated off me lamenting the lack of witches in space and has spiraled out of control from there.
