Unlucky?Player Chapter 10

After about 6 hours of training, Night managed to raise his understanding of weapon aura to 40%. The fact that it took him 6 whole hours just to understand the skill 30% more angered him. Was he not good enough? and if so why?
He hated it, he always thought combat-related skills were nothing for him, though this was more to do with energy and its channeling, the training required was physical. Just as he was about rage-quit, he was karate chopped on the head.
"Calm down Night, and tell me what's wrong, did you perhaps not increase your understanding of weapon aura by even a bit? hah well if that's the case then don't worry, it takes anyone a few months to even increase their understanding by 1% and you've only just begun training not to mention it's only been 6 hours since you started so it's more than understandable that you've not made progress,"Blade said
"hmmm? but I've already understood about 40% in total, I was mad because it took me 6 whole hours to understand it 30 % more."
"Hahaha not bad, see I told you-, wait did you say 40%? and 30% in 6 hours?"Blade asked with a change of tone.
"Yeah, it's quite annoying" Night replied
"You're joking, right? quickly show me your weapon aura."
Night's usual blue aura now had a red line running along the edge of his aura meaning that his GrandMaster's aura was slowly being covered by his weapon aura.
Astonished by what he just saw, Blade's hands started to shake a little,' but how?' he thought, even I only managed to understand about 70% and it took me all my life to get here.
"...."
"....."
"Night, just what did you do? you just achieved something that takes decades sometimes. How did you do it?"

"Honestly, I just channeled my energy and sliced. Oh, I also imagined I could freely control the energy in me and tried to manipulate it how I want."
Blade then realized that Night's comprehension abilities were monstrous, in fact, it was almost unrivaled, he would soon overtake Blade when it comes to weapon aura. He didn't understand Night's rage completely but he didn't question it for him anymore, instead, he wanted to help him out.
"Night, come with me, let's go outside for a bit"
"But didn't you say that if I didn't progress to the stone slab in time, the master might throw me out."
Blade was a little confused seeing how oblivious Night was but he pushed it aside and told him, "well that won't be too much of an issue besides, we're going to take a commission from the mercenary guild, which most likely might involve hunting some beasts."
"Hmm well, as long as we're fighting something."
"What are you a battle addict?" Blade laughed, little did he know that his joke would turn out to be the truth.

Once they reached the mercenary guild, they went inside. It was packed with people drinking and eating, all of them were laughing around without a care in the world.
They headed to the receptionist while causing a few heads to turn.
A big bulky man with a scar that ran across his face and a lady just as bulky but not as tall were seated behind the table.
"Welcome to the mercenary's guild, are you here to take the test or to fulfill a commission?" the lady asked.
"We'd like to look at the commissions please" Blade requested with a smile
Soon after, they were lead to the second floor which had a board full of commissions, most of them were F rank which was the lowest rank while S rank was the highest.

Most of the commissions were low-paying ones that required them to help clean a house or act as a waiter in the local bar. However, there was one that caught Night's eye.
[ Acquire Goblin blood x20 as well as Wolf King's blood x1
Rank: A. Reward:100 gold coins
Submit drops at the Mercenary's Guild ]
The commission was posted a few weeks ago yet nobody hunted it.
That only meant that the commission was that hard, this excited Night and he tore off the slip from the board. He figured if he found himself in a position where he couldn't beat it alone, he could always ask Blade for help.
Night applied for the commission, causing almost everyone in the building to stop for a second and then laugh. However, he was determined to be the only one to complete it. Just as he was about to set out, Blade said "you do realize that the dungeon where the Wolf King resides, matches your party's level right?at least most of the low-level dungeons do. and you cant even return the slip now unless you have 50 gold coins."
"....Isn't this something you tell me beforehand?"
Just shrugging and putting up his hands as if to say, 'well it isn't my fault you didn't ask', Blade said "I cant help you with the Wolf King but I can follow you till the dungeon and wait outside there, I realize that you cannot be permanently killed but if you die then the commission is immediately forfeited."
All the NPC's in-game were aware of the fact that players can respawn but that doesn't mean players can be reckless and take death as a joke for the penalty for dying is -5 levels, however, this does decrease after every ascension.
"Well, since there isn't anything I can do about it now, it's time for me to hunt this beast down," Night said as he went straight to the Wolf's dungeon.

A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
