Pokemon: Master Of Tactics Chapter 217

This posture was no different than when a Pokémon is preparing for the move [Self-Destruct] or [Explosion].
He said quickly with a loud voice, "Gardevoir, teleport Bastiodon quickly in front of Combusken."
"Bastiodon, use Protect, fast."
Alex's Pokémon reacted quickly, and Bastiodon and Gardevoir appeared in front of the stunned Combusken.
Bastiodon, for the first time, showed an angry expression as he looked at the Exeggutor.
He wasted no time and stood in front of the Gardevoir and Combusken to protect them by tanking this attack with his body, in case his [Protect] was not enough.
Bastiodon also used [Protect] immediately and barely generated the shield before Exeggutor's could use his move.
Exeggutor knew that he was gonna die after using this move. But his faces contorted in hatred and filled with boiling hot anger showed that he wasn't thinking straight about it or that he didn't care about it anymore.
A raging explosion was made by Exeggutor, and the shield of Bastiodon didn't last even half a second.
Fortunately, Gardevoir had also used [Protect] and provided a second shield in front of Bastiodon, so, in the end, the whole force of this life-taking explosion of Exeggutor could be prevented. This second shield from an Elite Pokémon was able to just about withstand the remaining strength.
Usually, a [Protect] from an Elite Pokémon like Bastiodon should be enough against this Exeggutor. But because this Exeggutor was crazy enough to use his life energy as fuel, the move was stronger than it normally is.
Life energy is something that every living being has and something that is vital for the body.
It ensures that the body cannot be injured so easily, and it even speeds up the self-healing abilities of all living beings.
It is also due to this life energy that Pokémon's bodies are so robust, healing their injuries so fast.

Pokémon usually have control over most of the life energy and can even manipulate this life energy slightly.
They have the ability to use life energy as fuel to amplify their moves and make them many times stronger.
But even if they have this ability, Pokémon almost never use it because the cost of using it is just too great.
Life energy is also indirectly linked to the amount of time you will live, so while using it, one also sacrifices the lifetime at the same time. Apart from that, the whole process is extremely painful for the Pokémon.
Pokémon would prefer to never use life energy because of this.
In a way, humans are also similar. There is a limit to how much we can use our body's strength. A human can run up to a certain speed because the brain has a limiter, which does not allow it to go past a limit. We never use 100% of our muscles. And if somehow a human uses 100% of its muscles' powers, that will be the last time he will be using it.
Alex started to calm down a bit when he saw the Bastiodon and Gardevoir successfully stop the explosion.
At that moment, he was glad that Exeggutor wasn't on the Elite-rank and [Self-Destruct] wasn't on the Expert-rank either. Or else, he doesn't know what would have happened.
Alex set aside his thoughts about such possibilities as he quickly went to the three Pokémon standing at the front.
As he reached near, he saw more clearly what had happened to Exeggutor after his [Self-Destruct].
His whole body was completely torn to pieces, and some parts were even entirely destroyed.
There was also blood all over this grass field and on his three Pokémon.
Alex quickly walked over to the group and said in a caring voice, "Combusken, are you ok?"

Alex knew that this was something that Combusken had never experienced or had ever even imagined that she would experience. She was shocked to the core. Right now, Combusken needed his most attention and help.
Combusken saw her father and came to reality. She looked at the surrounding area and viewed this very bloody area filled with destroyed body parts with a somewhat bewildered expression.
She noticed that her father was looking at her worryingly, and her eyes started tearing up as she stuttered, "Fa- father, I'm s- sorry."
"No, I'm sorry," Alex immediately embraced Combusken and said in a soothing tone, "I never thought that this fight would escalate so much, and you would have to watch something like this."
Combusken started to calm down after a few moments when she said softly, "Father, I always loved fighting because I had so much fun with it. But father, this time, I didn't like this fight. It felt wrong and unnecessary. Why fight until one dies? This is just wrong."
"But father, I think I understand," when Alex wanted to say a few words of comfort, he was interrupted. "When I saw the expression on brother Bastiodon's face, I immediately understood why. Fighting is not a game, and every fight can take your life and the life of the person you care about."
Alex showed a surprised expression when he heard the quiet words from his daughter. Combusken is usually loud, emotional, hyperactive, and full of life. But right now, she was like a completely different person.
"I learned something today," Combusken looked up at her brothers, her sisters, and at her father; and said with a firm expression, "And I don't ever wanna make a mistake that would threaten my family. I want to protect my family, and I don't want to be a burden to my family."
"I will protect my family with my life."
Alex and the other Pokémon all showed a surprised expression when they saw the determination in Combusken's eyes and voice.
Their faces were especially surprised when they saw Combusken's whole body started to glow.
All Pokémon showed happy expressions as they looked excitedly at their sister.
Alex didn't waste any time and quickly took out the two [Scales] from a Charizard, filled with Fire-energy, out of his TRH device.
He got these valuable items for his victory in the Kanto rookie tournament, which he had used only once during Combusken's first evolution.
Alex hoped that with these two high-quality items, Combusken would improve her potential and become his first Diamond Pokémon.
He gave his daughter the items to absorb and patiently observed her.

Glitch — Alpha [Swedish] [Svenska]
********* For English readers: (Might as well add this information in English to save the lovely souls looking through our works some time) I probably won't translate this work, but I'm working on another translation within YA, if that's something you'd be interested in. This one's horror/thriller, so.. yeah. Maybe sometime in the future. Otilia works at a daycare when a child disappears. Seconds later, the child reappears, like nothing had happened. She thinks she's worked too much, but when disappearences start to happen all around the globe, she and her boyfriend realize that something has gone really, really wrong. When they get an idea about what could be the cause, no matter how unbelievable, they will do everything in their power to get the information to the right people. This was my first-ever-novel and my first gamelit story (though I had no idea that was a thing/genre at the time). This novel contains a lot of violence and blood and can be uncomfortable to read for some people. There is also some violence from, and off-screen violence to, children.
