Chasing After My Wife Chapter 533

Jade happily received the phone from Cielo and talked with her mother. "Mommy! Are you having fun with Daddy? Don't worry about us, we are all fine here. But I we are a little sad because Uncle Valkyrie was injured. He won't be coming home for a couple of days."
"How about your Uncle Brown? Is he doing fine?"
"Yup. He is okay after talking to their father. Dr. Anderson was currently taking care of Uncle Val."
"That's good to know. I know that this is not a very nice trip but I hope you are having fun and enjoying yourself."
"Hn. I am happy here. Auntie Savy always cook me food. Uncle Brown played games with me and Auntie Cielo helped me make a new embroidered handkerchief."
"That's great! I am glad that you are alright. Do you want anything for souvenirs? I'll be going out tomorrow and I'm planning to buy things for you." In actual truth, she didn't really plan that but she finally found an excuse and she wasn't planning to let go of this opportunity.
"Anything is fine mom. As long as you pick it for me, I know it will be special." Jade responded without knowing what her mother was planning.
"Okay. I'll find something cute and pretty souvenir for you."
"Mommy, I miss you and Daddy."
Jade mumbled with a sad expression on her face. Jillyanna might not be seeing her expression but she can feel the sadness in her voice. "I miss you, too sweetheart. Don't worry. It's just a week-long vacation."
Jade nodded her head even though her mother can't see her. "By the way mom, don't go out tomorrow. I heard from Uncle Hawk and Auntie Savy that there were many enemies who escaped. Some of them went to Bali. Even though you have guards over there, it would still be troublesome if something happens to you and Daddy. Just buy the souvenirs on Saturday."

Jillyanna frowned but she didn't say anything against her daughter's request. She had no idea that Jade was reading a script prepared by Cielo. Cielo had no idea that Jillyanna was planning to go out as well. All she wanted to do is to keep her sister inside the hotel for her safety. She didn't expect that she will cause Jillyanna to be punished sweetly because they stopped her from going out.
After she talked with Jade and left few reminders, she gave the phone to Travis who just finished talking to Shein and Savannah. He had a conference call with them to save time since Shein had to continue assisting the soldiers and Savannah was sorting the documents that he needed to review once their home.
While Jillyanna and Jade talked about cute stuff and souvenirs earlier, when it was Travis who was talking to her, the little child became matured. She was like a little officer who came to report to the captain.
"I didn't do anything naughty today. I played chess with uncle Brown. I helped Auntie Savy cook some snacks. I made another embroidery and I helped grandma take care of baby Raizel."
"You didn't come to accompany grandpa Alex to buy stuff outside?" Travis asked as if he was interrogating his daughter if she did something.
"No. I wasn't allowed to come out. Grandpa Thomas and Grandpa Calhoun talked and they said that we can only come out after it's confirmed that there's no more members roaming outside."
"I see. Then, continue to be observant, alright? If you noticed something wrong, make sure to tell your Auntie Savy and Uncle Brown as soon as you can."
"Yes, daddy."
"And make sure that you sleep early and don't skip your meal. I don't want my little princess to become skinny like Mommy."

"I understand, Daddy. I will make sure to take care of myself and look after baby Raizel as well. You can always count on me."
"I know. You are the best daughter and sister in the whole world." Travis commented which made Jade smile happily on the other end. "I have a surprise for you when we're home."
"Really?!"
"Yup."
"Yay! Then, I'll be looking forward to that."
Jade talked with her father for few more minutes before giving the phone to Sky. He talked to his mother-in-law about the children and their needs. They didn't really have any issue when it comes to the children and the couple enjoyed taking care of them as well. Thomas would come from time to time but Brown always reminded him not to overwork himself since he's got a problem with his heart as well.
It wasn't the same as Jillyanna's which was inborn. His was from all the stress, fatigue and overworking himself all these years. Sometime he would play with Jade and Raizel but most of the time, he will play chess with Gabriel.
After almost half an hour of calling their family, Travis went back inside the room and found his wife arranging their food on the dining table. "We've got so much food tonight." She commented while looking at the variety of dishes in front of her.
"You need to eat a lot. I promised to let you eat a lot after the surgery, right?"
"Oh! You still remember that? I thought you have forgotten your promise sice you've been very strict with my food after the surgery."
"I need to look over your meals all the time, I can't just let you eat anything which could be unhealthy and bad for your heart."
"Yeah, I noticed. I can see more veggies than meat."
Travis chuckled at her statement and facial expression. She was obviously complaining but she couldn't do anything since he was very conscious with her well-being. Fear can sometimes bring fortune and blessing. Just like how he feared to lose her, he decided to take care of her and love her with all his being. She was his no. 1 priority.
"Are you upset that I'm overprotective?" Travis asked while hugging her from the back. He leaned his chin on his shoulder and kissed her neck.
"I'm not upset. I just miss the times that you allowed me to eat a lot."
"I see. Once we're home, I'll definitely cook a lot of food for you. I will make sure to cook a lot of meat."
"Promise?"
"Hn. I promise." Travis smiled and kissed her again. His hands slipped inside her lingerie and were touching her body.
"Darling, you promised that you won't do anything today."
"I said 'today' but I didn't say 'tonight' is included."
"Y-you..you!"

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
