Chasing After My Wife Chapter 514

Travis cocked his eyebrow when he heard his wife. "Isn't this the same Tristan you had in mind?" he asked her while taking the baby from her.
"Uh..how should I say this…hmm. The Tristan in my university years was a little tan, and had a short hair. He was also a bit chubby with cheerful personality even though we kept arguing at times."
"Hey! I'm still the same Tristan, okay? Did you just discriminate my past self?!" Tristan questioned with so much grievances. "So cruel. This world is so cruel!"
"Alright. I'm sorry. I am just really shock to see you like..like..like this. What happened to you all these years? Didn't you study making business? How come you're acquainted with Shein? Where's your wife?"
"Wait! Why do you have so many questions? Can I sit down for a while? I haven't been out in the open for a long time. Having these many pairs of eyes looking at me like I'm an insect ready to be dissected, I think I'm going to die for anxiety!" Tristan wasn't very reserved in front of them at all. Whatever he felt, he thought, he wanted to say; he expressed them in all honesty.
"Let me get you something to drink." Jillyanna stated and walked towards the kitchen.
"Can you add a little something for me to eat. I think I'll pass out from hunger."
Shein rolled his eyes at him as he sat on a different couch opposite their guest. He didn't know that Tristan was acquainted with Jillyanna at first. And he thought that Jillyanna just guessed Tristan's identity from the result of a private investigation. 'Wait, sis didn't ask me to investigate him. So, did she know all along?' Shein asked himself mentally.

Tristan looked towards Travis and grinned. "Did I make you feel threatened when I called her for the first time?"
"Why should I feel threatened when she never really looked at you like how she looks at me?" Travis questioned with unhidden arrogance.
"Cruel! So cruel! Can't you be a little honest without an ounce of arrogance on your face. I know you were jealous."
"Tsk! Whatever."
Tristan laughed so hard when he saw the indescribable expression on Travis' face. "It's fun to see your face like that."
"Did you forget that your wife is still inside my house?" Shein voiced out which silenced the laughing Tristan. He drew his knees together and clasped his hands together. He looked so behave that it was rather ridiculous to watch.
"I shouldn't have come and help! You are just bullying me!" Tristan took a throw pillow and hugged it. "Can I have my wife back? I want to hug her."
"Later." Shein responded nonchalantly.
"Later? When is that later?"
"Later when I think it's the right time."
Jillyanna came back with a tray of juice and three sandwiches for him. No matter how much she looked at him, he was just so different to his past self. She even thought that his past self was just a pigment of her imagination. "This is for you."
"Thanks, Yanyan." Tristan murmured and started wolfing down the food.
"Hearing that old nickname made me realized that it is really you. Let me introduce my family to you."
"No need. I know all of them. Travis is your husband, Jade and Raizel are your children. Jackie and Riley are the adopted twin. You've got soldiers here as well. And there's Shein, the little brat."

"Hey!" Shein stood up to argue with him. "I am not a little brat, okay? You are just few years older than me."
"Whatever." Tristan waved his hand to dismiss the angry little goblin in front of him. "Anyway, I am here to help."
"What help? I don't think we have a problem now." Travis responded to him.
"Yeah? With a large piece of land, booming business from here and out of the country, how many people wanted to take you down and overtake your Empire?"
"So? They can come and try taking it."
"Arrogant, aren't you? Did you forget that your wife just got out of the hospital not long ago?"
Travis wanted to find something to retort him but, he realized that Tristan was right. "I think, it's likely that you needed our help instead of you helping us."
This stunned Tristan and the sandwich that he was holding fell on the floor. His eyes dimmed as he wiped his face and picked up the now-dirty sandwich and put it back on the tray. "So, you're saying that you won't need my help? You are just pushing me away because you feel threatened with my presence."
Travis chuckled while watching the man in front of him. "Let's drop the act. Tell us why you're here. If you won't become honest with me, I will not let you approach any of our family members even if you consider them acquaintance or friends."
Seeing the brewing tension between them, Riley brought Jade upstairs. It would be bad if she stayed back. "Is the visitor a bad person or not?" Jade asked her auntie as they walked towards her room.
"I don't think he is bad but, there are things that only adults can handle. Let's not join their conversation."
"Okay." She didn't ask any other question and went to her room. There, she played with Riley while waiting for her parents to call them.
Back in the living room, Tristan was quite for a whole minute already. He was still contemplating if he should really tell them everything. Travis, together with his family, was the new target that the underworld wanted to take down. He didn't anticipate this order and he was unhappy when he received it. He wanted to refuse them but his family will be in grave danger as well.
"Someone hired me and asked me to dig all your dirty secrets. When I told them that there's none, they took my sister and held her hostage. I don't really want to cross you guys but, I don't want my sister to die."

Starchild
“It’s life’s illusions I recall. I really don’t know life at all.” from the song, Both Sides Now, by Joni Mitchell Starchild is an adventure novel set within an understanding of reality that is rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions. It takes as its starting point experiments in remote viewing that were genuinely undertaken by the American military in the nineteen-nineties under the name of the Stargate Project. It then imagines how a more advanced attempt to weaponise the capabilities of consciousness might have been developed in the present day.The story then explores how Ultimate Reality might respond to such a threat.Deep, elemental forces thus bring together Samantha Martin and Sahadeva Varma, old colleagues from the Stargate Project, to avert the apocalyptic consequences of this military attempt to weaponise consciousness. This fast-paced story spans genres including romance, action, adventure, science fiction and more. Although this story is based on concepts drawn from established spiritual traditions, these have sometimes been extrapolated to the point of very extreme speculation for the needs of an adventure story.Much of the underlying philosophy, however, as explained in the dharma talks given by Samantha Martin, is paraphrased from the guidance of respected spiritual teachers. Scheduling: Starchild is a previously unpublished novel of one hundred thousand words which was serialised in weekly instalments over twenty-five weeks from 15th November 2021 to the 29th April 2022. Each instalment contains five chapters – an average of approximately four thousand words in each instalment.
