Chasing After My Wife Chapter 454

"Which hallway did you see the man?" Jillyanna asked her daughter in alarm. Travis was already taking action, informing Hawk to ask someone to check the hallway.
"Remember, I went to the comfort room earlier. Auntie Winter was with me, right? When we came out someone talked to her so I looked around and found a man standing at the hallway, looking inside the reception. He looked angry. After Auntie finished her chat, I asked her to stand in the same place as the man did. She said that the guards couldn't see her because she was hidden behind the pillar and all she could see was you sitting here. I concluded that the man was angry at you." Jade's smart brain helped her deduce the events. It was brilliant of her to even ask Winter mimic the action of the man.
"Sweetheart, do you remember the person?" Travis asked her softly.
"Yes, Daddy. However, I don't know how to draw that much. I am not as good as Mommy."
"Let's ask someone to help us. That man was a bad person. He was looking at your mommy angrily because he wanted to harm your mommy." Travis tried to explain in a way that the child could understand. "He was jealous of your mom, so we need to capture him."
"I understand, Daddy."
The celebration continued as if there wasn't anything dangerous lurking behind them. People started to approach them, handed their gifts and stated their well wishes. Some talked about business and some were curious about why Atty. Lewis was there and what was the real identity of Jade in the Madrigal family.
There were games to entertain the guests and different performance prepared by the guest artists. They were enjoying the activity while Jade was taken to a close room with two officers and Major General Calhoun. She was asked to describe the person he saw while one of the officers sketch the person base on her description.

"I couldn't see the other side of his face but he was a little tan. His eyebrows were slightly longer and thicker. His lips were thin and his eyes were like and almond shape. His hair was…" Jade continued to describe the person.
The host came forward and went back to her place to lead the atmosphere. "Mr. Madrigal, as I was roaming around earlier, many of the businessmen here wanted to know how you get acquainted with Atty. Lewis. I won't name a person. They were just merely curious about your relationship."
Travis picked up a microphone on the table to answer her. "I don't personally have relationship with Atty. Lewis but, my wife does. He is basically a grandfather to her. One of the people that her father trusted the most."
"Her father?"
"Isn't she from the Madrid family?"
"What exactly is her identity?"
"Who is her father? Didn't Atty. Lewis serve Mr. Anton Xavier? I heard that man got married but there was no information about his family."
Murmurs, whispers, gossips and other things started to spread among the guests. Travis cleared his throat which gained everyone's attention once again.
"My wife is Anton Xavier's one and only daughter, carefully monitored by Atty. Lewis to be safe and sound all the time. Jade Venus Madrigal is our daughter, too."
They when to stop asking questions knowing that it wasn't their place to know such information. However, knowing that Jillyanna was the heiress to Xavier's Shoe Company and Factory, businessmen started to formulate proposals in their mind. They will never let any opportunities escape their grasp.
Jade finished with her task and went back to the reception hall once again. Many people greeted her. Even though she didn't know why they were being nice to her, she still politely smiled back at them. She walked towards Riley who was currently talking to Jackie.

"Auntie, where is Uncle Shein? I haven't seen him after the wedding? Did he even eat?"
"He is currently busy about something. He will be here after a little while. Why are you looking for him?"
"There aren't many kids around. I want to play with him."
"But your Uncle Shein is not even a kid." Riley responded with a chuckle. She didn't know that Shein was just a kid in the child's mind.
"I know he is not but I like to play with his computers. He told me one time that he will bring a computer here."
"How about you play with your cousins?" Jackie interjected and gave a suggestion.
They didn't expect for Jade to refuse though. She just had a conversation with the kids earlier and she seemed to be having fun. Now, she was refusing with all her might.
"Would you mind telling Auntie why you don't want to talk to them?" Riley inquired in her softest voice.
"It's not that I don't like them but, the people who came with them had been looking at him with disgust. Their eyes were glaring at me fiercely. I don't like to approach them." Jade had always been honest to everyone except her biological father. Hearing her saying these words broke Riley's heart.
They knew that not everyone will accept the decision of Jillyanna and Travis but, who cares? They don't need people like them anyway. Riley held Jade on her waist and raised the child to let her sit on her lap. "It doesn't matter if other people don't like you. What matters most is that, your parents love you, your grandparents love you, your uncles love you and your aunties love you. People who looked at you with disgust don't matter at all."
"Then, what should I do?"
"If you can avoid them, do it. Stay with the people who cares about you. If they will do something bad, tell your parents immediately. You can come and tell us, too."
"Thank you, Auntie Riley. Thank you, Auntie Jackie." Jade kissed the twin's cheeks with a lovely smile hanging on her lips. She already forgot about the meaningless people.
Inside the suite at the top floor, Shein was currently checking the identity of the man that Jade saw. After the officer got the drawing correctly, he immediately gave it to the higher officers on the top floor. "Interesting." Shein mumbled when he uncovered of the identity of the person.
"Who is it?"
"It's nothing important, just a son of a corrupt mayor that my sister dragged down not long ago." Shein responded before sending an email to his sister and Travis.

CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.

"Go on Lou, just give it a go." ; in other words, Louis' older sister Jade dared him to put on make up and Louis ends up loving it._Larry Stylinson_•I do just wanna day that this book isn't short. When I say that I mean the chapters are long and things don't happen straight away. When writing this book, I wanted to develop the characters before jumping straight in to relationships and drama. I tried to make it as realistic as I could (I was young when I started this book). Just please give it a chance as I'm really proud of this book and really enjoy writing it!!
