Chasing After My Wife Chapter 309

Perhaps, because of exhaustion and over fatigue, Winter didn't wake up until the sun sunk in the west. She slept very peacefully and Brown stayed with her all the time in case she'd wake up.
She slowly opened her eyes and found herself lying on a soft bed. Her vision was a bit blurry and she could see someone sitting on the couch not far from her.
"Gabriel." she murmured the name of the person that she missed so much. If she had known this would happen, she would've forced herself to remember him. She would've listened to him and go to the places that they spent time together. If only. But ifs don't exist in life. There's no room for regret. You should always be responsible to the choices you make.
Brown heard her whisper and felt bad for her. "Winter, you're awake. How are you feeling?"
Winter realized that it wasn't Gabriel but Brown who was sitting on the couch. 'Right, Gabriel is gone.' she thought to herself and her tears started to escape from her tear ducts again.
Brown didn't say anything. He didn't really have any idea how to comfort someone. "Uhh..how should I say this.." he mumbled under his breath while giving her a tissue. "Uhh..sh*t! Can you wipe your tears and come with me? Oh wait, take a shower and change clothes first. I will wait for you outside. There's something important you need to know."
While he guarded her outside the room, Shein nad Valkyrie were elated for the first time since they took up this task. On the screen, they saw the little girl with an uncle, went inside the shopping mall and bought several clothes and undergarments from the men's wear.
"That's the little girl from Calhoun's computer! Quick check the surveillance and see where they will go after shopping." Valkyrie hurried Shein while he watched the monitor.

Shein checked all the possible routes with CCTV cameras but most of them were broken. "WTF! Most of the cameras are useless!" He hacked into another camera and got a glimpse of the little girl walking into an alley, leading them to a suburb. Then, they lost her.
Shein slammed his fist on the table from frustration. They were so close to find him but they lost the child because of the insufficient cameras. "Wait! Didn't the military send some people to control peace and order in Pantar?"
"They did. Hundreds of soldiers were dispatched to assist the villagers and the city." Valkyrie responded to him. "Are you planning to ask them to install cameras?"
"No need. If Gabriel is indeed alive he won't allow that. Let's just follow what we have and patiently wait. I am pretty sure he'd make a mistake soon."
Jillyanna knocked on the door to call their attention. "It's time for dinner."
"Okay."
"Be there."
Shein and Valkyrie turned off their computers and walked out of the room for dinner. Hawk and Savannah arrived as well with some documents in hand. Jackie was no where to be found but Jenny, was there.
"Where's that diamond-hearted girl-Jackie?" Valkyrie asked Savannah when he passed by her.
"She said that she'll stop by the Police Academy. She'll be here soon."
Jillyanna knew why she stopped there but she didn't make a fuss over it. In fact, she found someone that needed a knock on her head.
"You finally have time to come home, huh?" Jillyanna flicked Jenny's forehead. "How come you lost weight? Is school really stressful."
Jenny rubbed her forehead and nodded her head. "I've got so many projects to do but I'm fine. It's just, I tend to forget to eat my food."

"That's not good. You have to eat your meals on time. No matter how many projects you have to finish, your meals should come first." Travis added to what Jillyanna said.
"I'll keep that in mind." Jenny nodded her head and smiled at them. She would never disobey them knowing that they cared for her.
Not long after, Winter came down as well with Brown. She still looked so haggard in their eyes.
Travis pulled out his phone and dialed Jackie's number. "Where are you? We're about to have dinner."
Hearing his voice, Jackie knew that her sister was worried which was the reason why Travis called her. "I'm on my way big bro. I'll be there in five minutes."
Travis ended the call and signaled Jillyanna that her sister will be home in five minutes. Since it wasn't a long wait time, they all went to the kitchen while waiting for her.
"Put your hands away! Where do you think you're touching me?!" Brown glared at Valkyrie while he swat his hands away.
"Do you even need to ask? Can't you feel that I'm touching your waist?" Valkyrie teased him since he found it fun to look at his expressions. Feathers of the same feather flock together. And who's the friend? Travis.
Brown's gaze were spitting fireballs and if it could toast Valkyrie, he'd be a roasted human already. "Isn't it your fault?!"
This exchange of words made everyone looked at them. How else would you interpret their words?
Seeing the mischievous and teasing gazes, Brown waved his hands in front of him. "It's not what you think it is."
"What do you think we have in mind?" Jillyanna teased them before taking a seat.
Brown blushed even though it wasn't really what happened. "I don't know what you guys are thinking...but..but I'm telling you..it's not something indecent."
"Oh?" Savannah and Jenny both expressed at the same time. Jenny might be young but she knew what was going on inside the house.
"So why are you blushing?" Hawk added to the teasing crowd.
Since he can't do anything to them, Brown turned to Valkyrie and stomped on his foot. "It's your fault! Really your fault."
"I didn't say it was yours. And don't stomp on my foot." Valkyrie retorted.
"Would you rather have me stomp on your precious anatomy?! Ahh! This is crazy!"
