Chasing After My Wife Chapter 289

As scheduled, Travis was discharged the next day. It was Valkyrie and Brown who picked them up and brought them home.
The house was decorated nicely to celebrate his recovery. Jillyanna's family was there as well as the twins and Shein. The Sandovals were there too and Cheska came along with them. Zachary and Wynwyn were also there to welcome him home.
It was a very lively atmosphere and everyone was happy to see him home. Jillyanna was even startled to see a huge wedding photo of them in the living room. She clearly remembered that she kept it beside her vanity mirror.
"Auntie Fei, who placed it there?" Jillyanna asked their helper who came to bring a glass of water for her.
"Miss Cielo asked sir Lucian to do it. She visited yesterday to clean your room and found it." Auntie Fei answered her and handed the water. "Did you drink your vitamins this morning?"
"Yes Auntie. Thank you for always reminding me with a note."
"No worries sweetheart." The kind woman exited and walked towards the kitchen.
Travis was surrounded with so many people and he was looking around to find Jillyanna for help.
"Are you looking for your wife? How come you are very dependent on her?" Diego asked. As far as he remember, Travis didn't like to depend on someone.
"Why can't I depend on her? She's my wife." Travis answered bluntly without caring about their opinions.
"We didn't get to celebrate your wedding so we prepared a little sort of post celebration for your wedding and for your recovery." Wynwyn stated with a cheerful smile even though Travis couldn't remember her yet.
"Thank you. I'm glad that my wife found friends like you."
"Pfft!" Jillyanna was watching him from the porch while he interacted with everyone and she couldn't stop herself from spitting the water she just drank. 'They are your friends for Pete's sake.' she mentally noted while she pat her chest.

Wynwyn and Diego could only sigh deeply. The three of them were together for years, yet he couldn't remember anything about them.
Travis sensed the awkward atmosphere around him but he couldn't which word did he use to offend anyone.
Seeing his bothered expression, Jillyanna came to his side and spoke to him. "Diego and Wynwyn are your friends. You've been together since college and the three of you started J Entertainment. Diego is the Vice- President who's helping you run the business whenever you are not around. Wynwyn is the head of the PE Department and recently, she took in my sister and became her personal manager. Cheska is Diego's fiance. You are also good friends with her and helped them hide their relationship. Zachary is Wynwyn's husband. He is a shareholder in J Entertainment and also a good friend of yours. I became friends with them because of you. Do you get what I mean?"
Travis listened to her attentively and realized his mistake. He immediately apologized to them and told them about his amnesia.
"We totally understand your situation." Cheska stated in a low voice. "Just take your time. You will eventually remember us."
"I agree. We will wait for you to remember us." Zach chimed in to lighten the atmosphere.
"Thank you." Travis responded with a smile. Jillyanna pushed his wheelchair and stopped in the living room. "I remember that picture." He was looking at the large wedding photos of them. "You were the most beautiful bride I've ever seen in my life."
Cielo was preparing the food with Savannah and Sky at the kitchen. When she came out to arrange the table, she found Travis and Jillyanna looking at their wedding photo. "Beautiful isn't it?"
"Yes. She's beautiful." Travis nodded his head with a smile. "Thank you so much Cielo."

"You're welcome. Focus on your recovery so we could attend your grand wedding." Cielo responded cheerfully. She knew that Travis don't remember her but, Jillyanna talked about her family and Travis kept them in mind.
"Are you tired? Do you want to take a rest for awhile?" Jillyanna asked when she noticed that he was looking pale. His back was damp with a cold sweat. "Travis, speak to me. What are you feeling right now?" she asked him anxiously when he remained quiet.
Travis took hold of her hands and kissed the back of it. "Don't worry about me. I just remembered something..something really sad." Travis admitted. "I remembered several people were chasing after me and my cousin. They wanted to kill us and my cousin was hit at the back of her head. And I killed them. I saw blood in my hands. I was holding on to a bat and I beat them into pulps."
Jillyanna knew exactly which memory he was talking about. It was the time they were kidnapped because of her mother. She closed her eyes and hugged him tightly.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry that you had to experience it. You didn't kill them on purpose. You had to do it for your cousin's sake. You were only defending yourself. I'm sorry." Jillyanna couldn't stop herself from crying. She rubbed his back to comfort him but she felt a warm liquid seeping on her clothes.
She thought Travis was crying again and it worried her. She moved him a little to see his face but what she saw startled her. Travis had a nosebleed and he was unconscious.
"Travis?" she called out his name but he didn't respond at all.
Brown noticed what happened and ran towards them. "What's going on?" he asked Jillyanna while he took his wrist to feel his pulse.
"He said he remembered something painful. I was just talking to him and he just suddenly fell unconscious." Jillyanna answered him while she wiped her tears. Everyone noticed it too and started to calm her.
"I don't see anything wrong with him. If I may say, the memories must have been a shock to him. It could be something horrible that happened in the past. Let's take him upstairs so he could rest first."
Hawk carried Travis on his back and brought him to their room while Jillyanna and Brown were following behind them.

A Standard Model of Magic
The world ended, and magic came back. The part our parents didn't expect, was for Science to break on reentry. Twenty years after the apocalypse, with our nations dismantled and hidden continents unearthed, a new generation has grown up in the wreckage of 21st century civilization. For us, the fantastic is at our doorstep and we have had no choice but to fight back. Meanwhile, the laws of nature bend and break at the whims of immortal gods, all of which are now dead and none of which are content to stay that way. But we cannot afford to give up. We are the stewards of a rewritten century, in which a little luck and a whole lot of magic might make anything possible – maybe even a world better than the one we lost. A Standard Model of Magic is a complete overhaul of my old story A Storm in the Fall. I'm afraid I was unhappy with the LitRPG elements, which I don't mind reading, but I apparently loath writing. Sorry. Once I'd made the choice to decouple the story from the OF that inspired it and reconfigure the magic system to my satisfaction, little of the original plotline survived. I will be salvaging most of my original characters, and I will keep some elements which are endemic to the genre, but that is all. I don't have an update schedule which I can commit to yet, but I will try to maintain a weekly pace.(This is currently RoyalRoad exclusive, since I'm lazy. If you find it posted elsewhere, it wasn't me and it wasn't with permission) If you're interested, I've set up a discord.

The Light in Death
Set in a modern city where Jesse Gil narrates his experience running a business capitalizing on his ability to heal any affliction — even death. He's forced to take on a student, Shawn Ellison, a spoiled college dropout who awakens abilities of his own, to prevent him from accidentally killing himself. As a result, Jesse must become more than just a healer. He'll need to master his power over energy: the fuel for life, the soul, and magic. I'm uploading the initial draft of each chapter so people can follow along with the story as I complete the manuscript. I'm hoping to gather interest, and potentially attract an editor. After going back to revise and edit; I will self-publish it.
