Chasing After My Wife Chapter 255

Cielo was horrified to see him back with a knife. She immediately stopped crying as she stood in front of him with a shocked expression.
"I don't know how else I can prove my love to you." Lucian spoke softly. He didn't want to resort to this act but he couldn't think of anything.
"Go ahead and dig it." Cielo responded coldly at him but her hands were trembling from fear. 'Don't do it.' she prayed silently while she watched him lift the knife to his chest. She just wanted to see how far can he go.
Without removing his shirt, Lucian smiled faintly at her with a sad eyes. "Make sure to take care of it." He stabbed himself on his chest lightly, just enough to let some blood soaked on his shirt.
"Don't do it!" her tears started falling once again. "I don't want you to do it. I just thought you were bluffing." she took a step towards him, step by step until she reached where he was. "I'm sorry for acting all jealous. I'm sorry for doubting your love. I'm sorry for asking you to divorce. I'm sorry for asking you to dig out your heart. I'm really sorry."
Lucian put down the knife on the drawer beside him and pulled her into a hug. "It's fine to get jealous sometimes but you don't have to be jealous of your own sister. I won't lie to you ever again. And please, please, don't ever ask about divorce with me. I will really dig my heart if that happens."
Cielo just hugged him back while nodding her head to whatever he said. Now that she realized what happened, she felt annoyed and guilty.
When both of them calmed down, they talked about Jillyanna's condition while she cleaned his small yet deep wound for him.

Then, both of them started looking out for information and the chances of survival after second surgery.
After two hours of research, she started to feel drowsy and she kept yawning so, they decided to stop.
"Recently, your moods would just flip suddenly. Are you having a hard time in the cafe?" Lucian asked her while they lie on their bed. He was hugging her, while she used his arm as her pillow, making sure to avoid the wound small wound on his chest.
"Not really but sometimes I get annoyed with the smallest or tiniest details or mistake around me." she admitted to him with, feeling guilty once again. "I'm really sorry."
"It's fine. No need to apologize. I made a mistake, too."
"Let's visit Jillyanna tomorrow night. I have something to tell her."
"Hn. No problem. Let's visit her around six in the evening. She should be at the hospital at that time."
"Is she planning to live there?"
"Probably, she won't even let anyone touch her husband. The doctors had to go through full inspections. That's how cautious she is for Travis."
"Do you think he will wake up?"
"I don't know. Some patients woke up after a week of being comatose. Some took a month or several months. Some would even stay in coma for years. Maybe he would make it back. Let's just hope he would."
"Hn. I hope he would."
The two of them slept the night, burying the unpleasant memory of their fight. They said that couples would often fight and argue but in their case, it was the first time they fought. An intense one, too.
Jillyanna on the other hand was in panic once again. She was just about to sleep when she heard the beeping sound of his monitor. It was slow at first and it became quicker as time went by. The doctors were also running when they heard the sound and inspected him immediately.

'Travis don't scare me. Please wake up soon.' she prayed mentally while watching the doctors do their job. She watched every tools they used to make sure that there wasn't anything harmful.
She was pacing back and forth while waiting for them to finish their job. Her drowsiness was thrown away somewhere and she wasn't feeling sleepy at all.
The doctor looked at Jillyanna and shook his head. "No changes but still, we will be on look out in case any changes would occur."
"Thanks doc. I believe that he will wake up soon as well. No worries." Jillyanna uttered since it was within her expectations.
"You are very strong Mrs. Madrigal. Please be very careful of your health."
"Thanks doc." Jillyanna smiled faintly and led them out before closing the door. She strutted back towards Travis and watched his face, his wounded arms and legs, and his wrapped head.
"I love you hubby." she whispered before placing a light kiss on his face. He was getting thinner every single day and Jillyanna was worried for him. "I will have to get a surgery soon. Won't you wake up to see me? I might not make it out alive."
She spoke to him until midnight. She talked about different things since she wasn't sleepy. She talked about the recent events about their parents' death. She talked about the city council's issue. She talked about Shein and the twins. She talked about his father, Thomas. She talked about Savannah and Hawk. She told him about Valkyrie and Brown. She spoke endlessly to him.
"Sigh. It would be better for you to see them once again. You're missing out so much by sleeping here. Our baby is also growing and you are not here to talk to our child."
When it was past 1 o'clock in the morning, Jillyanna started to get sleepy once again. She covered her mouth when she yawned while stretching her legs.
"Hubby, I am going to sleep now. Always remember that I love you now and forever. I won't give up on you so fight for your life as well. Our baby and I will be waiting for you." Jillyanna whispered, caressing his emaciated cheek.
She turned around and walked towards her sleeping area to get some rest. She needed to rest to get some work done tomorrow.
In the middle of the night, when she was asleep, a weak voice called out to her. "My wife."

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: Dungeons are Bad Business (DABB) is a slow burn slice-of-life dungeon core litRPG citybuilder that's focused on the day to day experience of running a dungeon. There will be some action, but it won't be the focus of the story and Vee and his friends will usually overcome their problems with their minds and their pocketbooks instead of their weapons. Since I'm participating in the writeathon, I will probably be uploading chapters almost daily for the duration of the event. Thanks for reading!
