Chasing After My Wife Chapter 178

Savannah didn't want to see him upset so she promised not to see David again. The next day, whenever David came to speak to her, she would eventually cover her eyes.
"What happened? Why are you covering your eyes?" David asked her in confusion while scratching his head awkwardly.
"My boyfriend didn't want me to see you." Savannah replied which made Valkyrie laughed out loud. Savannah could only grimaced from his loud voice through her earpiece.
David was stunned as well when he got her response from her. That was really unexpected. Even the students who happened to hear their conversations couldn't help but let out a faint chuckle.
Hawk, who heard the exchange of words didn't know what to say either. He never expected that she'd do that at all. He was expecting her to avoid the man, not to talk with her eyes covered with her hands.
"I presume your boyfriend got jealous. It's fine. I totally understand. However, I've got a bad news. I am not sure if you heard it already." David spoke while taking a seat beside her. They were currently waiting for the professor to come.
Savannah's face changed. "I am not sure if we are thinking about the same thing but, I did hear some bad news."
When she was waiting for Lyka at the bus stop, she heard news of another student who was reported missing. However, the police couldn't file a missing person yet because of the 24-hour protocol.
"I heard that the victim this time lives nearby. Her parents always know that she'd come home around six in the evening. Last night, she didn't come home and her friends didn't know where she is either." David supplied the information in a whisper. And because he was leaning close to her ear, Hawk and Valkyrie heard him, too.

Savannah turned pale when she remembered something. She waited for Lyka this morning but it had been two buses that passed by already, still there was not a shadow of the cheerful girl.
She also remembered that she would always go home around six in the evening due to the recent incidents. Cold sweats started to drip on her back down to her spine. She removed her hands from her eyes and spoke slowly.
"Is the victim named Lyka?" Savannah asked with trembling voice. Hawk and Valkyrie knew who she meant. It was the very first person she made friends at the bus stop yesterday.
David nodded his head slowly to confirm her guess. "It's Lyka Alvarez."
Savannah closed her eyes tightly this time. Her breathing was heavy and she looked rather pale. Her complexion made her classmates worried but she refused their suggestion to take a rest.
"I should have walked her home last night. She even invited me out of worry. My god! How can this happen?"
"We should do our best to find the culprit. There's still hope for her. She wasn't declared dead so it's possible that she was just held somewhere."
"But there was nothing when my friends checked the monitors. They didn't see anyone come to the cave."
"Are you sure they're hiding in that cave? Have you checked the inside if there was really anything special in there?"
"No we didn't. We don't know what were the traps awaiting us. I don't want my team to go there blindly." Savannah responded to him.
"This is just hunch, but I think the cave is just a ploy. I mean no one would want to have sex inside a dark cave, don't you think so?" David asked without censoring his words at all.

Good thing that everyone was busy with their own chitchats and no one was paying attention to them now.
Savannah tried to think of any other possibilities but her brain wouldn't just work due to her worry for her friend. "By the way, I don't think the cafeteria lady is a simple person. She boarded an expensive car last night and the way she walk expressed her status in society. I believe she's from a known family in this area." Savannah stated after awhile of thinking.
"I checked her background before. She's from a rich family and she was given a house as her 18th birthday gift. Her parents are divorced and the only one who took care of her is their butler slash driver." David informed her while looking around the room to see if anyone's eavesdropping. "Come to think of it, the house that was given to her was located near that reported cave."
"Are you sure?" Savannah asked in disbelief. They really overlooked that matter. They were so focused with the farmer's testimony. They didn't check the other houses that were near the location.
Hawk and Valkyrie started working at home. They made several phone calls to connect with their team and check the houses near the mountain. They needed to move as soon as possible before another body floats in the river.
"Good morning everyone." The professor came in with his laptop and book. At the same time, Jillyanna caught a whiff of certain smell. David looked at her as well and looked outside the room but no one passed by.
"The smell of blood is really thick. Only people who works in a battlefield can identify that smell." Savannah stated while jotting down the notes from the discussion as if she was really listening.
Meanwhile...
"Young miss, how about we change target for the meantime?" The driver asked when he sent the lady to the university. "Here's what I found last night when I came to fetch your toy." He showed a picture from his phone and the woman lifted her lips into a beautiful smile.
"No wonder we understand each other. When you see her again, get her. No need to wait for another day. Ugghh! I can't wait to put my hands on her." She moaned shamelessly as if she was doing someone. She licked her lips as she watched the woman in the picture for one last time. "I want her as soon as possible."
"Sure sure. I'll grant your wish." The driver dropped her off at the back entrance and left.

Fortuna Verto
A girl’s luck changes when her world changes upon itself, sending her back and forth between a world she knows and another that shouldn’t even exist. Working with her parallel self from that other world, the two must adjust to their alternate form when visiting the other’s world, as they search for a way to escape the chains of misfortune they are bound to. While this story is the conclusion of the trilogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, as the world of Celese itself is no longer a place the characters will be journeying through. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for all previous books, in case that matters to anyone. This book has an additional chapter after the final chapter that represents the trilogy conclusion, and should not be read until all three books are read first. Fortuna Verto continues the events of Essentia Animus to advance society into a sci-fi interpretation of Celese, bringing events to a distant world of another star. At the same time, events interpret a real-world advancement into a similar sci-fi age of another planet that shares Earth’s galaxy, a planet that has also been linked by the Celesi Veil. English remains predominant in both worlds of the story, but the presence of both sides makes certain Aethyx terms stand out, while Earth-styled scientific terms will also stand in a powerful contrast. Instrumentation remains an important aspect of the Elemental Era, but the influence of the gift has grown distant after discovering the superiority of the elements. Harnessing the elements had eliminated some of the original limitations of instrumentation, allowing for a self-sustaining focal source that provides solutions to problems such as automation. This turns the development available from the previous modern-day sense of a fantasy to one that is deep-future. Finally, opening access to the passage across the veil will open this progress in comparison to a very similar deep-future parallel world without such fantasy elements, contrasting the laws of physics with the laws of elements in a convergence of time and space.
