《Reincarnated As A Dragon Vol.1: A New World, A New Life》Chapter 21: Anonymous Adventurer

I never expected the same creature who almost killed me is in the same room as I am. Naturally, when I saw him, I panicked a bit. But he didn't make a move, so I didn't either. It was silent for a few seconds.
"Well, are you gonna apologize or what?" Damian said, still smiling.
"O-oh, uhmmm..." I hesitantly kneeled to the ground. "I'm sorry that I cut your leg off... Troy..."
For another few seconds, no one said anything, making me think this is some kind of trap that the librarian set to kill me or something.
"Apology accepted," A voice suddenly rang into my ear, giving me a bit of a shock due to experiencing telepathy for the first time. "Although, don't be surprised if you find one of your legs missing when you wake up one day," Troy smirked.
I smirked back, "I can say the same thing for your fingers." I laughed and he followed by huffing quickly over and over again.
Professor Damian frowned and glared at Troy, "Can you not leave people in the same room out of a conversation?!"
"Wait, I can do that?"
"You just did..." The professor said.
"I did?" That earnt him a facepalm as I laughed more.
================================
Welp, that went... weird-I mean, well? I also learnt that I could use telepathy on multiple targets! Why haven't I done that?
Dumbass, that's because you have only one person to talk to.
Shit, I'm rambling in my head again.
Girmold started looking at his fingers again. "Prime healing potions... Pretty weird stuff, eh? Is that what you used to give Troy a hand, eh?" He smiled and raised his eyebrows a few times.
Give me a hand? A- "I bet he rehearsed that in his mind a few times. Bad joke, dude."
He frowned for a second. "I guess we're done 'ere. I'd better be going."
Professor Damian was baffled, "That's all? No questions? No nothing?"
"I've been through a lot of shit today, man. I be barely having the will to think on what inn imma stay in."

"Hah! You've been through a lot? I've had a boatload of shit in the two weeks in this world!" SHIT, that slipped bad...
Girmold raised a finger but sighed and put his hand back down. "I ain't even gonna ask what you meant by that."
He then opened the library doors and left while saying "See ya next time!"
When the library doors fully closed, I vented my question to Professor Damian, "WHAT THE HELL WAS YOUR THOUGHT TELLING HIM THAT ABOUT ME??!!"
Professor Damian visibly winced at the volume and aggressiveness of my telepathy. "It's for your own good. If I didn't tell him anything or heal his fingers back, he'd be reporting everything that happened and get every knight and the Lord's family all cautious and suspicious of you again. And when he spreads the news to other places that don't know you are a pet of a noble, they will start hunting you too. And maybe more troublesome than Girmold. Would you rather one kind adventurer to know your secret or the town's guards and nobles suspicious of you AND everyone else in the kingdom hunting you?"
Holy crap, Touche much...
"BUT WHAT IF HE WASN'T THAT KIND AND TELL MY SECRET?"
"Still better everyone knowing your secret than you getting hunted by the whole kingdom," He said casually.
Stop outsmarting me!
"Alright, alright. I was actually thinking to get more payment from him than just an apology."
Professor Damian raised an eyebrow, "What were you thinking of?"
"I was actually thinking of him becoming my tutor in fighting and how is it to become an adventurer. I want to be one too."
Professor Damian's eyes widen, "WHAT?! That isn't something you could just announce so casually like that!"
"So isn't my secret, you asshole." IT'S MY TURN NOW BITCH.
"Stop! This is serious!" He seemed to let the profanity slip. "You're about to join a job that can and will risk your life! Why would you want to do that!"
"Because I think it'll be boring being a pet without a second side of my life, and that's the only job I can join." And also I want to be powerful and absorb all the magic essence I can without killing without a reason-

He facepalmed again, "Have you even thought this through?! How can you get the missions?! It's not like you can just waltz in and get the form! You'd be creating another mission for them instead of eliminating one!"
"Well, I know where your house is, and I know that you pass the adventurer's guild going here. So I thought you wouldn't mind sparing a minute or two to get me a mission a day."
It was silent for a few moments. "You've been stalking me???!"
"It was unintentional! I swear!"
He scowled a bit. "You'll also need identification for that, you know? Now, how are you going to get that?! You'll need the person physically there to make one!"
I did not think through that.
*huff* "Alright, I can't do it then. But I'm still up with watching Girmold doing his job."
"Alright then."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, I forced myself up, got ready in position, and waited in the shadows of the forest as Professor Damian approaches Girmold so I can talk to him. I saw them talking for a second before they started walking in my direction.
"What can I help with, eh?" He asked.
"You didn't tell him?" I looked toward Professor Damian.
"Tell me what? All he told me is that you needed help with something," Girmold said.
Professor Damian frowned. "This is your request. You tell him. I'm just helping, but I'm not your talking owl, thanks."
"Let me kill him, please," I telepathically said to Girmold.
"I'd only fight back only for morals, not for sympathy," He smirked. I caught on to the joke and smirked too. Professor Damian was left in the mud as he glared at the both of us, wanting a hint to what we are talking about.
"Anyway, what got you interested in my job?"
"Well, I wanted to be an adventurer... But..."
"You got no one to teach you? I can do that! Damn, being the trainer of the first dragon that became an adventurer? Heck yeah I want that title!" Girmold quickly said. Professor Damian seems to be a little nervous all of a sudden.
Hmmmm... Something is fishy around here.
"Well, that hope was destroyed when Professor Damian here raised a good point on how I can't be one due to the lack of identification I have for it. And I can't just waltz into a monster-hunting guild. I'm a monster myself! I'll be killed outside the doors!"
"You dun need to worry about that, dragon boy."
Dragon boy?
"There are actually a lot of adventurers who don't have an appropriate ID but still can earn from it. They're called anonymous adventurers. They keep to themselves, a lot. So they normally have someone else to get some quests for them. They're always weird, with the cloaks and stuff. Some of them go to the guild themselves with no skin shown, but, like I said, most got someone to do that part."
WHAT
WHAT
WHAT
A sudden flash of anger went through me as I 'accidentally' growled at Professor Damian. Judging by him trying to hide a guilty face, he knew about this.
"And WHY, DID YOU NOT TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?"
"IT'S A DANGEROUS JOB. I DON'T WANT YOU DOING IT!"
Girmold's eyes widened, "Man, he would be useful to the core. He's probably more dangerous than what the forest can throw at 'im!"
"But-"
"And it's not like you can control him anyways. If ya can't, or won't, get him an anonymous adventurer ID, I'll do it. There's a high demand for monster hunting in the lands, so I'll be staying here for a while."
I stuck my tongue out in victory as Professor Damian scowled.
"Although, I want to really make sure you'll be good at fighting. I noticed last night, you fought out of rage. You can't depend on rage all the time, could you?" Girmold said, unsheathing his sword to casually.
But I didn't mind. "Oh, I'm in!"
This is a story of two old men trying to free from the shackle of their destiny set in a future only to await their impending doom. And as their stories go, one of them will face the events that unfold in their distant past, as the other one will unveil its mystery predicted by its future. Is it a mistake to challenge fate, after all? *** The world-building is set upon on the universal scale, with dungeon and old-style fantasy. It has a progression that follows with the consistency of a dungeon setting, although it's not what you call a dungeon, but a function of a crystal. There's a lot to take in this novel, but that's all within my intention. I have always enjoyed challenging conventional ideas. The cover is not mine, it's just temporary.
