《Astral Dungeon》Chapter 29. Tantrum

Nyoka flinched from her kneeling position, she had felt a force blow right past her, obliterating Catherine and colliding with the dungeon’s shield behind her. She looked up, seeing the angel lay limp on the ground. She then glanced past the angel and saw Rose, Frig, and Lucy frozen in surprise. She was at a loss at what she should do, as she was sure everyone was unsure just the same.
“T-the leash…” Frig choked out “she destroyed the leash… “recovering from the shock brought upon by the angel’s outburst he spoke, taking in the damage. “All that data… gone.”
Rose was next to recover, gasping for air and falling to the ground. She glanced up, looking towards the burnt gash in the ground where Catherine once stood “it’s gone…” She breathed a sigh of relief.
“Is she now?” Lucy spoke, glancing back at Rose after pondering what to do about the angel, then giving up. Lucy thinking it unwise to disturb her now.
“What do you mean? Nothing could of survived that!” Rose said, glancing up at her from the floor.
Lucy glanced towards the confused looking Nyoka, glancing around and unsure what to do. Lucy then took a few steps back towards Rose “did you perhaps rid the little lady of her burden while inside the dungeon?” she asked in a low voice.
Roses quickly faced towards the girl, her eyes going wide. “We have to stop it now! Its off the leash!” She quickly stood up, about to cast her magic but Lucy stopped her, stepping in front of her. “Lucy, get out of the way! It’s going to-“
“I know…” Lucy spoke, then motioned towards the angel, who was still motionless on the floor. “but you do not want to risk provoking “that” when its in that state.”
Rose looked towards the angel “But if we don’t do something now… “
“Rose, I understand, but we know where it is. If this goes well we can be rid of it.”
Anger flashed on Rose’s face, frustrated she couldn’t just freeze Nyoka and be done with it, but Lucy was right. If it was just her own life on the line right now, she would gladly risk getting rid of that damn slime, but the angel was an emotional ticking time bomb that could threaten the entire area. She sighed, relaxing her body “So, what should we do?”

“We should start by contacting someone to come handle her… given the… personal… nature of her outburst I am starting to doubt this is official business” Frig said
The two girls nodded. “I’ll try contacting the direct line, see if anyone can transfer me to a higher up.” Rose spoke, bringing a hand to her ear as she was getting ready to call.
“Bring him back…” A chill ran through the room, freezing everyone in it. “Bring him back…” The angel spoke, slowly lifting herself off of the ground like a puppet being pulled by it’s strings.
Everyone watched as the angel raised it’s hand, her palm exploding in rays of light that converged into the shape of a shinning sword “Bring him back!” She screamed, a booming was heard as she vanished, a large gust of wind blowing everyone in the room to the wall and in the next second a loud *CLANG* was heard as the angel’s sword collided with the outer shield of Delvin’s dungeon.
Rose and everyone else hit the wall of the chamber, bouncing off and landing on the floor. Rose looking up as the angel swung her sword repeatedly against the barrier, not making so much as a dent in it. “Fuck! She’s lost it!” Rose yelled, the noticing on the opposite side of the room a passed out Nyoka who had lost consciousness after colliding with the wall. “That damn slime!”
Rose tried to stand up but was forced up against the wall as a shockwave from the angel’s assault on the barrier pushed her back. “Tch.” Rose clicked her tongue, looking at the angel slashing her sword against the barrier, sending a shockwave back each time the sword bounced off it. She noticed the walls at the top of the chamber were starting to crack.
She looked for her other companions, Frig and Lucy, and seeing them collapsed on the ground she paled. Desperate, she tried their original plan of calling someone, but as soon as she connected to the communication implant in her ear another shockwave shook her body, cutting the connection. She attempted again but was met with the same result each time a shockwave rocked the very foundation of the room.
Now struggling to remain conscious, Rose could only watch the angel in her tantrum. Just as she was about to pass out, a golden chain shot out from the entrance of the chamber, wrapping around the angel’s arm and halting her assault. “What is this…? What is this that has stopped me!” The angel screamed, struggling to move her arm as it was locked in place.

“My, my, has one such as you forgot their place?”
Rose turned her head, following the chain to see the owner of the voice. She saw a man dressed in a black suit, two white wings adorned his back, a silver metal mask hid his head, and on top of it a halo floated. The man held the golden chain in his gloved hand and spoke “Cease this ungraceful act immediately.” He spoke, his voice stern.
The female angel struggled in the air, desperate to free her arm and continue her assault but it was locked in place. “Free me! This insolent dungeon has taken much from me! I demand you – Urk!” The angel’s words were cut off as the man yanked her chain, pulling her to the ground where she landed in front of him. The sword made of light vanishing when she landed.
“That wasn’t a suggestion.” The man said, kicking the angel in the head and her body fell limp with a weak whimper. He looked around the room, as if inspecting the damages. “So much wasted effort.” His gaze lingered on the scorched ground where Catherine once stood, a faint chuckle could be heard before he moved his gaze towards Nyoka. A holographic panel appeared in front of his face, screens moving fast as information was fed to him. The screens closed as he finished “No need for the pet without it’s master.”
The entrance to the chamber opened once more, and a floating mechanical disk flew into the room and over to the unconscious Nyoka. It extended claws down to the girl and lifted her up. Rose’s eyes widened, she knew he was sending Nyoka back to the prison cells but with just that, the slime was going to escape. “S-sir, there is-!”
“Silence!” The man spoke, cutting her off. “You have seen much, I’m sure but keep what you saw here under tight lips.” He walked over to rose and bent down, lifting her face up to match his masked gaze. “Wouldn’t want someone such as I to be worked harder then I already am, understand?” He raised a single finger to where his mouth would be.
Rose blinked, not understanding what he meant. She then noticed behind him as Nyoka’s body was flown out of the chamber “b-but the-“ Rose’s face was squeezed, her jaw nearly breaking.
The man let out a deep sigh “girl you just don’t get it, but that’s fine.” He stood up, pulling Rose up with him, the difference in height caused her to dangle in the air. “Yes, lets make this clearer then. The slime is dead, killed by my raging companion in a lapse of judgement.” The man gripped Rose’s face, forcing her to look at the scorched ground. “Nothing could of survived a direct hit, it would be *very* interesting if they did manage that, however. But alas…” He then forced her to look where Nyoka once laid “The helpless pet thief, no longer with a use has been put back in her cage.” He then brought her face up to his mask “get it? Nothing else needs to be said, right? We won’t go out of our way to misinterpret these events, right?”
Rose tried to speak, but the grip around her face tightened, so she could only nod. Once she did she was dropped cruelly to the floor.
“Good.” The man said, now bringing his attention to the dungeon itself. “Delvin, don’t know what you are planning but don’t think we will overlook you using more of your hostages like that.” Another chuckle could be heard as he spoke “Was a nice gamble, did you win big?” He asked.
To answer his question, rocks rose above the floating dungeon and came together to form the words “Fuck off.” The man laughed this time, raising his golden chains and whipping them towards the dungeon, a loud *CLANG* was heard as they hit the barrier, leaving a visible crack along it’s side. “Don’t get to cocky bitch. ‘this one’ remembers.” He spoke.
Rose watched as the man stood up, straightened his suit and dismissed his golden chain. He then casually walked up to the unconscious angel and lifted her up, swinging her over his shoulder. “Remember what we spoke about, I’d be very disappointed otherwise.” And with those as his last words he left the room.
Rose waited till the entrance closed before going limp “What the actual hell…” She spoke, then passed out.

The crew of the Safe Haven finds their way to Earth to discover that not only are there humans there but a variety of other alien species cohabitating on Earth which had become a central trading hub in the time they'd been in contact with a collective known as the Transgalactic Federation of Planets. The story is meant to be my take as a westerner on the concept of a Japanese Shonen Anime written with inspirations from the likes of Power Rangers and Kamen Rider but also meant to be my own spin on the conventions and tropes of the genre with a bit more of a large-scale world and a very open ended universe with lots of room to develop things outside the world of the main cast.
