Rhax was the perfect knight!

That was the statement everyone at Valq palace was whispering or shouting out loud.

Andromeda has heard of it and couldn’t agree more, she praised herself for accepting such a man into her services. A man of honor and kindness, a man who talks to the people better and lesser than him in the same respectful tone. And devilishly handsome as well. She doesn’t know why, but she feels that such a face is not real. She feels that it is impossible for someone to have such a handsome face and such personality.

But apparently Rhax has it, just the other day she saw him helping a maid with carrying things across the castle. He was laughing and joking with the maid, like she was his friend from childhood. Not a person he met only a few days ago.

She also saw the looks the maids and even some butlers gave him, but he seemed to not care or not notice them. Because he didn’t even indicate that he was noticing the hungry looks he got.

She has to admit, she sometimes also drifts away looking at him when he trains or doing something physical. She drifted away looking at his muscles and face. But she quickly stops herself feeling guilty because she loves Sybal but she was looking at other men. She often thought that it was a bad idea to accept such a man into her service because he was honestly too tempting. Especially when he caught her eyes one day while he was training and bowed then went to shower to accompany her. But she swore she saw a smirk on his face when he turned his face to leave.

It has been two weeks since Rhax entered her service and three since Sybal left her to do his job. And today was the day he would come back, it was only a matter of 2 weeks until they married. She was excited, being married to a man like Sybal has always been her dream as a child. And now it was happening. Sybal is good, kind, handsome, and kind hearted. He may be a magus apprentice, but unlike the other magus he actually helps people. He travels from one place to another and helps people.

He has been doing that for almost 3 years now, he was 28 years old. But he was a rank 3 magus apprentice so he can live to 150 years. She was only 20 this year, so there was not a lot of time between them. Only eight years. From what she understood from Sybal’s story, he was not a noble or a rich man by any means. But he was the eldest child of a poor family of 4, his parents died when he was 7 and from that day on he became the sole provider to his younger sister. But unfortunately his sister died when he was 10 because of radiation coming from a magus spell.

There was a battle between two magus not far away from their house and the radiation of the spell attacked the house. He was out in the woods hunting at the time, and when he came back he found his sister on the bed still and not breathing.

Her death broke him, or he says so. He didn’t know how his sister died, but he thought it was some kind of disease. He continued living alone, until he was 13. On a summer day, he was in the city selling his goods. There he found a line of people waiting, he asked what are they waiting for and they told him that an academy called the White Stag academy has sent a magus here to test everyone under the age of 18 to see if they have talent for magic. If they have then they will go with the magus back to the academy. It was completely free of cost, so he took part in it. And to his surprise he had a talent for magic and was taken to the White Stag academy.

He spent 12 years at the academy, in those 12 years he became a rank 3 magus apprentice. And had a very bright future in front of him, but then his academy was attacked by another academy. The academy was called Dark Wood academy, it was a dark magus academy unlike White Stag which was light magus.

White Stag didn’t have a chance, they were outnumbered in magus and apprentice numbers. And both of these academies were not a rank two academies, but rank one. That indicates that the strongest person in the academy is rank 1 magus. But Dark Wood’s headmaster just became a peak rank 1, which made him confident in taking over his enemy White Stag. Which headmaster was not peak rank 1 yet. That made Dark Wood a peak rank 1 academy.

So White Stag surrendered, but Sybal didn’t want to be a part of the Dark Wood or didn’t want to be selled as slave. So he escaped, he was hunted by magus apprentices but thankfully no official magus cared to follow him. He escaped and started to roam the regions, helping anyone in need. He uses the signature spell of White Stag academy a lot, the spell is called The Stag’s charge. It makes him charge in line of his choosing, and while he is charging a white stag would appear behind or beside him. He also loves to wear white, so all of this made the common folk and the noble born call him The White Stag. He came to Valaq a year ago, Valaq was in a cold war at that time. The Luwin family was openly plotting to kill her father and take the city. But when Sybal came, he changed the game. He went personally to the Luwin family mansion and talked with the matriarch. And after two days the Luwin family packed their things and moved out of the city, where? No one knows. He lived in the Valq castle with them for the entire year, and in that year crime has gone down and he even started to train promising young men and women into becoming a magus. For that her father offered her hand in marriage to him. Sybal agreed because they both were kinda courting each other already, but in secret. Then 3 months ago her father passed away in his sleep, it was a peaceful passing. She understood why he died, her father was old. She was not his only child, but he had a wife and children before her and her mother. But they were all killed in the way that plagued Valaq 30 years ago. So he married her mother when he was in his fifties and her mother was in her twenties. And they had her and only her. Her mother died 5 years ago because her heart just stopped suddenly. Her father was really sad for her passing, even with their age gap they loved each other. And it seems that his time came and he went to the other world to meet her mother, half-siblings and step-mother.

“My Lady, the banner of The White Stag was spotted in the city. His Highness should be here in a matter of hours.” Said her young handmaiden.

She nodded and went to bathe and dress probably to meet her betrothed and husband-to-be.

Time went and she found herself standing in the courtyard of Valq castle, her household behind her. Rhax was behind her on the right side, he was wearing an armor she gifted him as a welcome gift. It was metal but painted with gold color and there was a red lion drawn on the breastplate. There were also red lions on the shoulders. This was the armor a high ranking officer under the Valq family would wear. The Valq’s coat of arms was a red lion on a golden background. She didn’t know why her ancestor didn’t make the coat of arms white and black, because Valaq is clearly white and Valq castle is clearly black. So it only makes sense to use those two colors. But she would not think about that very much.

In front of her she saw a young boy holding a spear and on the top of the spear stood a banner, the banner was of a white stag with white antlers on a black background. Sitting on a black destrier wearing a white robe was Sybal, he climbed down. He was tall, not like Rhax but tall enough, he had coal black hair and deep blue eyes. His frame was very muscular and she reckoned that he could crush a man’s skull with them. Not like he would do that without reason, he was not The Dark Eyed Demon after all.

He came in front of her and smiled: “My lady, I missed you dearly.”

She smiled back: “I missed you too, Your Highness. Welcome back home.”
