Mark Inx was a normal noble, he was tested positive for magic talent. And entered The Raven Academy, he was an average student. His talent was rank 3 so he didn’t get a lot of focus. But he worked hard and reached rank 2 magus apprentice within one and a half years.

His family was mostly normal people, they had Magus in the family but it was a long time ago and his family was pretty influential in the mortal world but considering the Magus world they were just an ant. So when he got the invitation from Illyan Trant he was very excited to help her. Because if he can help her then he would have a good relationship with her family which is a pretty powerful family with magus running it.

He thought that it would be only like an escort or a hunting mission. But sitting at the table listening to her, he was shocked by the revelation. They were hunting a fellow student! And not any student, they were hunting Adrius Caseo. A man that is known in the Academy for his cruelness and ruthlessness.

He thought for a second to run outside of the room, but he didn’t do it because he knew that it would be very bad for him. Because by doing that he was offending Illyan and his family will probably suffer from it.

But she wants to hunt Adrius Caseo for fucks sake, the worst thing is he is Croft’s student so if they were found they would be killed in the worst way possible if the last time Croft punished a student was real.

He was not afraid particularly of Adrius, he is only one man. If they have enough people he would die, but he was afraid of his backing. Not anyone has a magus backing them. And if not anyone has The Dark Eyed Toxic Demon backing them.

Just thinking about how Croft got the name made him shiver. It said that someone offended Croft while he was traveling and refused to apologize, Croft was still a rank 3 magus apprentice so he couldn’t do anything because the other person had an official magus backing them.

So after Croft became an official magus , he befriended the magus that was protecting the person that offended him. Of course he was disguised so no one knew him, and the story says that one day there was a feast and that a lot of people were invited and Croft was one of them. And the choices that the feast was one of the best ever people were drinking, celebrating and were happy. And the moment it hit midnight one by one they started to fall, everyone at the hall was on the ground and only Croft was standing. Some servants that survived the incident said that they heard him say: “ my friend you should’ve looked at me more closely, you see a snake can hide in plain sight and will wait for you until you poke it then it will bite you. I was a snake, I didn’t do anything but your grandson offended me. I didn’t do anything about it because I couldn't. I was too weak. So I trained and I trained hard and I’m now a magus. And you know what, I'm tired of being a snake from this day. I'll be a demon if you poke it will take your head if you don’t do anything to it, it is peaceful. The servants also said that he was laughing throughout his way out of the castle. From that day on he got the name Dark Eyed Toxic Demon.

So just thinking about offending this man made him very reluctant to do what Illyan suggested.

But he can’t do anything else if he backs out now it will be a very big offense to her and if he goes with the plan and everything went well then his family would benefit from it. But if it didn't go well then he didn’t want to think about what would happen if a thing didn’t go well because if he thought about it he would probably be too afraid to do it.

But he was very confused by Illyan And her talking about justice and rinsing the world from evil. They were Dark Magus, they are the evil of the world! So why does she have this mentality when she is the evil one? He knew that she had a hero complex but he didn’t know it was this bad. There was talking about it throughout the Academy that she has a hero complex. Also the way she painted Adrius it was like talking about the devil himself. He didn’t know about the man, he didn’t know him but he knew that the man didn’t kill just for pleasure he did it so he could intimidate and for a purpose, and he knew it because he does too and everyone with him does it too. It was a code, that was a dark magus mentality. So when she talks about justice it is very confusing because as far as he knows she has killed a lot of people in the name of justice. Everyone in the Academy knows about it and he was afraid that he was following a mad woman but he couldn’t back out now for his family’s future and for his life.

So when he spotted the maid, he didn’t have any choice. He had to follow the orders so as fast as he could he got behind her, choked her until she passed out and then ran holding her in his arms.

There was no backing out now! It was all or nothing, life or death! And Mark wants to live.
