《Magus Of Darkness》Chapter 47: The game

Inside of his room Adrius was sitting on his bed meditating, he had finally broken through 27 magic points. He didn’t have a lot of time in the past month or so because of the mission and the consequences of it but in the past week he has been meditating like crazy and has finally broken through 27 magic points.
‘Now it is only matter of time until I break through to rank three magus apprentice’
Sitting up in his bed he called on Mary to come, it has been one week since she started the experiment. One week since he talked with the headmaster.
In a matter of minutes he’s door was knocked on, he used shadow hands to open the door while he was sitting on the bed. Mary came in after The doors opened and closed behind her. She stood in front of Adrius and bowed: “ how may I help you today master?”
“ I don’t need anything I was just checking on you“ Said Adrius
He used his magic sense to send Mary’s body. She was a mortal so it was a lot easier to scan her body than a knight or another malgus apprentice. He scanned her and he saw that she was perfectly healthy, then something caught his eyes, something in the area below her stomach. Something was growing. It was very small. It cannot be seen with the normal eye, it was on a molecular level but he was using magic so it was very easy to find it.
Adrius chuckled after realizing what it was: “Well congratulations Mary, you are pregnant”
Adrius didn’t notice the face Mary made when she heard the news for a split second, face of panic, of fear.
“Well you may go now and take care of yourself, that thing growing inside of your body is my property. It is mine I can do whatever I want to do it, so don’t do anything stupid or try to kill it, understood?” Threatened Adrius with a cold tone.
Mary shook her head in approval and walked out of the door. This was a lot to take for her; she didn’t think that her life would be this miserable. She didn’t think her life would be controlled by a demon that doesn’t know empathy for other humans. She actually thought he was a good person for a period of time when he treated her well but now she saw his true colors he was actually a very bad person. When she was hearing other maids other/talks about a restaurant say that he was a demon and he was a killer she was defending him and saying: “ he did it so he could survive, he did it so he could get stronger. That’s the only way to live in this magus world”. And other slaves turned on her and just shrugged, they thought she was naïve. And you know what? They were right she couldn’t see his true colors, she should’ve seen his true colors when he killed her sister and her best friend in front of her. And ate their soul but she didn’t want to think about that and just forgot about it. That was her fault for believing he cared about her. And now she was pregnant with something that will probably be a freak of nature.

Adrius sat down on his bed and he started thinking about his next move and plan. He has gotten news from Lily that says that she is now a friend of Veronica and the plan was going very smoothly in the Firebird city. She also told him that the organization was named Blood Raven. He actually liked the name, at least it was not corny as other academies/organizations that he knows of.
Besides cultivating he has been working on a new version of “poison of eternal pain”. It was his poison, he created it and he doesn’t want it to be stuck in one place. He wants it to become stronger, and it was his favorite way of killing because he could kill his enemies and observe their reaction to a poison at the same time so it was a win-win for him.
Subconsciously his eyes drifted to a corner of his room. There was a table there with three balls that had white lights shining from it.
It was The three souls he has kept with him, the soul of the original Adrius, Emily’s soul and Oliver’s soul.
Sometimes when he’s bored he just goes and picks one of them and starts torturing it.
Then a knocking was heard from his door. He knew it wasn’t Mary because she would tell him before she knocked. and he knew it wasn’t Croft because he doesn’t get out of his lab unless he has to go to a meeting or he has to buy some things. And he knew it wasn't Hadith because Hadith was not in the Academy right now. Adrius has sent him to a city to bring him some materials for an experiment. So Adrius was just confused as to who would knock on his door right now?
He got up, put on his mask and walked to the door, he opened it and saw something that made his eyes open in shock. He saw someone he has dreamed of killing for the past month, he saw someone that he dreamed of torturing until they were begging for death. He saw her face with her blue eyes and blue hair it was none other than Sophie fucking Gaius.
Before he could speak she spoke first: “Hello Adrius , I see you have a new mask. Too bad I like the first one”
It took everything in him to not attack her and keep his voice neutral: “ yeah, I liked it too. But because of someone it was destroyed.”
Sophie continued talking like she didn’t hear the hatred in his voice: “ so will you let me in?”

He let her in and close the door and then he snapped: “ Cut the bullshit Sophie, what the fuck do you want form me? You already tried to kill me once what the fuck do you want now?”
Sophie answered in her calm and polite manner: “ Oh that wasn’t nice, I'm here so we could talk and solve our problem. You know the whole “I tried to kill you and betrayed you thing”.”
Adrius answered in the calmest tone he could assemble in the situation: “There’s nothing to talk about, you betrayed me and left me for dead. Don’t get me wrong I don’t blame you for betraying me I would’ve done the same thing but I am mad at you because I know you were sent by someone to do that. I have expected from the start that Eve has something to do with the whole shenanigan. She told you that you should betray me and leave me for dead.”
“ Wait, how did you know?” Ask Sophie in a panicked voice.
Adrius laughed: “ Well now I do, you see I didn’t know at first, I just thought but then you confirmed it now.”
“ You really should back off now, Adrius, you are way over your head. You have entered something that is more confusing than anything you could ever imagine, you’re entered the politics of the magus world and politics of the Raven academy. This is not only a matter of Eve hating you, but it is also the matter of Eve's boss hating your mentor so what will happen now with his political game I don’t know. I’m only a pawn in this game, that’s right I am from the Gaius family and a powerful person but I’m a pawn in this game. Because everyone in this game is stronger than me, you have to be an official magus to participate. And everyone under official magus are only pawns. So take a step back and don’t do anything. I'm saying this because I don’t want to see you die because you are a very talented person and I really enjoyed accompanying you.”
“ Are you done?“
“Yes I am”
“ OK so let me tell you something you see this game you’re talking about. I've been playing it since day one in the Academy. You see, in the academy’s yearly exam I killed two important students to magus Katherine the healing magus. I killed Kyle and Pax. Do you know why I killed them?”
“ Because they offended you”
“ 50% right but you see my mentor told me that Catherine has been pushing him and has been harassing him what whenever he was in a group meeting she was talking shit about his toxins she was talking shit about his poison and about his profession and he can’t do anything to respond to her in public so what happens if two of her best students die at the yearly exam? Isn’t it sad?”
Sophie was shocked it was what she was hearing this was outrageous.. Croft and his student were killing people for the game.
Noticing her face Adrius laughed: “Don’t ever think about reporting it to the headmaster. I have to remind you that you are a magus apprentice and Croft is an official magus. And Croft can kill you easily with the excuse of you ruining his reputation and disrespecting his role as a magus.”
“ don’t worry I won’t, no it was good talking to you but I have more important things to do” saying that she got out of the room and didn’t even look back.
Adrius for sitting on his bed laughing, of course that talk of the game and he is already playing it was bullshit he actually killed Kyle because Kyle offended him that was all there was no other reason, but he had to do that so he could make a point to Sophie that he was not a person she can play with and can’t threaten.
But the feeling inside of Adrius’ mind saying that “he had fucked up big time with this lie” unsettled him.
‘ Why do I put myself in one lie after another?‘
