《Magus Of Darkness》Chapter 32: The hunt I

Adrius recognized the name Sophie Gaius, she was one of the most talented magus apprentices in the academy. She studied runes, a rune is a word or a symbol that makes something more powerful. According to the rumors she was quasi-master in runes even though she was still a rank 2 magus apprentice. The academy values her a lot, because rune masters are rarer and more important for magus than any other profession. Because rune masters can literally make a normal sword to a sword that can split a palace in half in one swing.
‘Why is she here on this mission? She is a very important person to the academy and they send her like that, what if another academy killed her?’ Thought Adrius fast.
While Adrius was thinking about why Sophie is here she was also thinking about something: ‘This man is weird, my looks always make men want to drop everything and look at me like a goddess. But he just has this careless look in his eyes. By the way what the hell is wrong with his eyes?’
She then looked at Adrius up and down, and then a thing caught her attention: “ Nice ring you got there”
“Thank you, my mother gave it to me.'' Answered Adrius with his usual cold way, he put his hand on the ring and rubbed it. It looked like a normal ring with an emerald on top of it. But it couldn’t escape Sophie's senses: ‘ This is definitely a magic artifact, his mask is also one. This man has 2 magic artifacts and he is still a magus apprentice and is not from a magus family, very impressive’
‘ She has definitely found out it's a magic artifact, but at least she doesn’t know where it came from’ The ring is Emilia's ring, he took it from her body and after research he named it Slave of love. Because of its ability of making someone weaker than you a slave to you and making them love you uncontrollably. That was the method Emilia used to control all the people she had in her grasp. He found out about the ring ability after soul searching Emilia’s soul, he also found out the real name of it. But he didn’t like it so he changed it to his own name.

Sophie thought about it for a minute but then asked: “ Adrius can I ask you a question?”
“ Talk”
“What is wrong with your eyes? I have never seen such eyes, the only person I know who has such eyes is your mentor Croft. Is it usual for a toxicologist to have such eyes?”
Adrius thought on how to answer but then he shrugged it off, it was not a secret that could kill him: “ This is the result of a potion that increases magic power. It is called soul refining potion. It uses human souls as the name implies to increase the magic power and the down side to it is the whiteless eyes.”
Sophie’s mouth was wide open, she has never of such an evil method. She was a dark magus and has killed a lot on her own but this was just plain demonic: “ I think we need to get to the ship, we have to get going.” She didn’t want to continue the conversation with this man, he has successfully creeped the shit out of her.
They walked to the ship beside each other and talked about normal things. When they were in the living room in the ship, they sat in front of each other.
Sophie then spoke first: “ This is safe enough, we can discuss the mission now. These 3 students are not our main priority, but the main is the reputation of the academy so this won’t happen again. I think you already know about the mission of killing everyone of Lykos name. An..”
“Stop!”
“What?”
“You say that our main priority is the academy’s reputation and to achieve that WE have to kill everyone with the name Lykos. That includes children, elders and everyone” Said Adrius with a glow in his eyes.
Sophie understood his intentions immediately, he was asking if she was willing to kill innocent children or innocent people. He was asking if he can depend on her or not? Can he trust that she will do the mission or he has to cover for her? But can she do it? Can she kill a child?

She couldn’t see Adrius’s expression but she knew that he was smiling: ‘ Fuck! He has entered my mind.’ Sophie calmed herself and answered with a determined expression: “ Everyone with the name Lykos has to die, no exceptions!”
Adrius’s eyes glowed with a dark glow, he then started speaking in Xyron: “ I think it is time for you to show yourself young man” Adrius’s voice was like the sound of 2 stones rubbing against each other.
Sophie heard his words and was confused but immediately she got it and scanned the area around them with her magic power: “ Got you!” She screamed and the door opened showing a boy around 14 standing listening to their conversation.
The boy was rank 1 magus apprentice, and when they discovered him his face went pale and tried to run but Adrius’s shadow hand was faster. The hand grabbed the boy by his leg and he went on the ground, the hand started to drag him to Adrius’s feet.
Sophie didn’t move a muscle, she couldn't, Adrius has taken care of everything before she can do anything.
The boy was crying and begging: “ Please I didn’t hear anything, please let me live.”
Adrius covered his right hand with magic and made it cold, he then touched the boy’s face. The boy flinched when Adrius touched him, Adrius then grabbed the boy by the chin and made him look in his eyes. The pitch whiteless eyes, when the boy’s eyes met Adrius’s liquid started to cover the ground the boy was on: “ Don’t worry I won’t kill you if you tell me why are you here and who sent you”
“ No one sent me. I swear, I came here to tell you that the pilot says he is ready to take off. But I was curious and overheard your conversation. I wanted to tell my friends that I can be as cool as them.”
Adrius chuckled: “ Well I guess curiosity killed the cat” Saying that the boys mouth opened forcefully and a tube floated to his mouth.
Seeing this Sophie snapped: “ What Are you doing? Stop he is one of the academy you can’t do that”
The boy's eyes glowed with happiness, he thought that he would die today but he is saved now. Then what Adrius said next made him lose all hope of living: “ What if he is of the academy, he has heard classified information that only the higher ups knows. Do you understand what would happen if he got out with what he said? Everyone will do the same thing as the Lykos family. I think the higher ups will like my decision”
Adrius didn’t wait for Sophie to respond; he immediately poured the poison into the boy’s mouth. The boy started to shake and jerk aggressively, his screams were so loud that everyone outside the ship heard them. Some of the students were shaking hearing the screams. After 5 minutes the screams stopped. The place was quiet, then some students gasped because they saw Adrius walk out of the entrance and a body was floating behind him.
Adrius looked at the students: “ Take this trash away from my sight” After saying that he threw the boy's body on the ground and walked inside again.
