《Magus Of Darkness》Chapter 26: Demon’s Wrath

The last student got out of the exam dimension, there was a lot of sound. There were those crying for their siblings, lovers and friends that died inside the exam. Adrius was standing alone and there was 5 meters empty space around him. He understood why these people were crying, losing someone beloved is a hard feeling and Adrius has felt it a lot in his past. But it annoyed him very much, because their weeping was cutting his line of thinking. He really wanted to kill them so they stopped crying but then he discarded the idea because it was too risky and he can’t kill anyone now because the exam is over.
While this fuss was happening a magus wearing a red robe got on a podium that was in front of the gate of the dimension. It was the same magus that announced the rules of the exam, he looked at the students from the podium and said: “ Congratulations, you are the best in your batch this year. As you see this exam was a way for us the academy to eliminate the incapable and the untalented. So you should be proud of yourself because from now on you are real members of the raven academy. Now I will announce the winner of this exam, the winner this year will get a magic artifact, they will have to choose one for themselves from the academy’s treasury. Anyhow the winner of this year's exam with 230 badges is Adrius Caseo!”
Everyone looked at Adrius with a terrified expression, 230 badges? How many has this man killed? This was everything the students could think of.
The magus continued: “ Good job Adrius, this is all, you all can get back to your mentors and continue your life.”
Everybody started to go to their mentors except for Adrius, he was still standing in the same place until everybody was gone. Then the magus from earlier appeared and told Adrius to follow him. Adrius got a message from the magus to stay so he could go and pick his prize.
After walking for a while they got to the main section of the academy, this was the section the headmaster and everything important stayed in. Of course the academy’s treasury was very important to the academy so they put it in this section which was guarded by a rank 2 magus. Thus only a fool will try to steal something.

After sometime the magus and Adrius got to the treasury, Adrius thought that it would look like a big safe with magical things to guard it. But it was not like that it was like the library but instead of the books on the shelves there were a lot of other things. From spells to resources for cultivation.
The magus brought Adrius to a section of the treasury, the section was filled with a lot of things from a needle to a whole outfit.
“Is everything here a magic artifact?” Asked Adrius while looking at them
The magus thought about it for a second and then answered: “ Well, yes and no. Yes because a lot of these are in fact magic artifacts, and no because some of them are magical equipment.”
“Magic equipment?” Asked Adrius, he has never heard of this term.
The magus thought on how to answer the question without giving too much: “ Magic equipment are the equivalent for magic artifacts but for magus. You see, magic artifacts have the power of magus apprentice but magic equipment has the power of magus, and it can have the power of any rank of magus.”
Adrius had a flash of understanding in his eyes, even though he read a lot about this world but every day he was surprised by it. And it only made him crave power more because if he has power then he can explore this world freely and maybe even explore other worlds when he has enough power.
The magus then pointed at the magic artifacts and said: “ You can choose only one artifact so choose wisely”
Adrius then started looking through all of the artifacts, he wanted something to help him stop spells from hitting him. He has a lot of ways to attack but not a lot of ways to defend, his only method is creeping darkness and creeping darkness is more of an attack than defence.
After a while he found something that grabbed his attention, it was a black mask. It looked like a skull with fangs but the most notable thing about it was the two horns on its forehead. It looked very scary and real.

Adrius got to it and started to put his conscience in a crystal that was in front of the mask, it was a common way to store information.
Minutes passed like seconds and after 10 minutes Adrius stopped looking into the crystal, ‘ So it is called Demon’s Wrath, after knowing how the name originated I think it fits it.’
The mask was an artifact that was made by some headmaster of the raven academy, it was made with the skull of a king of a race called the horned demons, it was a type of demon that has horns and they are like the nobility in the demon worlds. But it was not only the skull that was used but in the description it was stated that over ten thousand souls were sacrificed to make this mask. Thus making it very evil and it can make the wearer very evil and twisted because of all the souls that were sacrificed that day. Also it was named Demon’s wrath because of the wrath the souls felt that day.
It’s ability was an invincible shield that mafifasted around the wearer, the shield’s power depends on the wearer's magic power. If it is too weak then the shield is weak, if the magic power is high and strong then the shield will be strong.
‘ This mask is just too good, and the cons aren’t that big of a deal. Like what can more evil and twisted mean to me, I ate human souls for fuck sake. The pros are just too overwhelming, it will help me a lot because of that shield.’ Laughed Adrius in his mind, he started to realise that he was becoming more indifferent to the lives he took. That honestly made him happy because he knew from the start that his path is going to be filled with blood and bones. He thought about his old world and how if he did what he does today with humans they will mark him as the most dangerous man on earth and such things. In his past life he did kill and make poisons but the poisons were sold to countries to use them.
‘ Thinking about it this demon looks really like the paintings you would find in churches and depictions of demons. They look identical, maybe the demon race visited my old world, but the question is why didn’t they conquer it?’ Thought Adrius to himself, there were a lot of questions about his old world that needed to be answered like why didn’t they have magic and why couldn’t they find any other race on their neighboring planets.
Adrius then discarded all of the unnecessary thoughts and spoke to the magus that was standing watchinghim: “ I have decided, I will choose this mask”
The magus looked surprised for a minute then he spoke: “ Are you sure? This mask is cursed, it can make you very evil and twisted person”
“Yes I’m sure”
“ As you wish, from this day on this mask belongs to you Adrius Caseo. Do not lose it, it is very expensive” Said the magus
They then walked out of the treasury, Adrius walked back to his room to rest and to prepare himself to breakthrough to rank 2 magus apprentice.
When Adrius got to his room he passed past Emilia’s room, he laughed in his head because Emilia will wish for death very soon. He got into the room, closed the door and put his stuff in place. He then took out his new mask and took off his old one and put the new one on. Suddenly, Adrius’s body lost its power and fell down on the floor like a dead body!

Now, he is facing a royal prince and tells him to bow. This draws out one of his late father's teachings from the deepest recesses in his mind. "The blood of your great ancestors runs in your veins. Don't easily bow down to anyone, or accept suppression by any being, not even from a monarch, unless you pledge your allegiance to him. Also, giving in to oppression is directly telling the oppressor that you're easy prey and open for manipulation." He is uncertain on how to face this oppression right now. Will he bows or not? What will he do to uphold his father's words while keeping his life safe? As for the prince, Theodrech has nothing to do with Freidrech, so he wishes to let this slip, but the boy opens his mouth and proposes the most ludicrous challenge he ever heard and triggers his curiosity. In fact, bowing to me is an honor. You saw the King's noble Knights. When they saw me, they bowed," says Theodrech, testing Freidrech. "Allow me to be forward, Your Highness. For me, bowing to a monarch does not guarantee loyalty. If I were you, I rather have men who stand straight in my presence but who got my back, than bowing men who are dreaming of my death," replies Freidrech. The prince’s curiosity increases. A huge smile is seen on his face. Prince Theodrech decides to take Freidrech under his wing.
