《Magus Of Darkness》Chapter 25: Yearly exam IV

Adrius looked at Emilia, the sword was still in his chest. He saw her in a complete new light, he always thought that she was that clumsy idiot girl who likes to annoy him. But who thought that she is the person that tried to kill him on multiple occasions. He looked at her face she had her winning face on.
Adrius then looked at her eyes and laughed like a maniac and said: “ I win, bitch!” When she heard his words her face went pale and started to draw her sword so she could finish him. But before she could do anything black smoke started to manifest out of thin air.
Everything in seven meters around Adrius was covered in black smoke, Adrius was in the smoke. He stood up, he could see Emilia like its day time. Emilia was in the smoke panicking and every cell in her body told her that if she can’t get out of this smoke then she will face something worse than death. She wanted to escape but she couldn’t see anything and that made her scared because if she can’t see then how will she escape?
Adrius walked to Emilia’s location, he was swaying like a drunk. When he got there he raised his sword, Emilia heard the sword’s metal from behind her and she wanted to turn back but instead she was on the right side. When she realized she can’t she started blubbering: “ Adrius do you dare to kill me?! I’m professor Chris' apprentice. He is also a potion master, if you kill me he will definitely kill you because you killed his best student.”
Then Emilia heard a voice in her head, only she could hear it. The voice said: “ Best student? Child you are overestimating yourself, you are not even in the top ten.And honestly you aren’t enough reason for me to start a problem with Croft” Emilia was shocked because that was her master’s voice, he has put a spell on all of his students so he can communicate with them at any time.
Hearing that Emilia lost all of her hope of staying alive today, she was strong. She had 18 magic points and was going to get 19 very soon, but she planned against someone who is crazy and evil enough to consume human souls for power. After the turn down from her master she started to beg Adrius: “ Adrius no Lord Adrius please spare me I’m ready to be your slave for the rest of my life!” She was from a royal family of a small country and was the third heir so she had a lot of pride, but now she threw her pride away for a chance of living.

Adrius didn’t even think about it: “ No” After saying that he chopped with his sword and deactivated creeping darkness. It has only gone 10 seconds but for Emilia it was eternity in there. Adrius then looked at the headless body of Emilia and saw something starting to get out of the body. It was a sphere of light, it had red and black. That meant that Emilia's soul was corrupt to the core, Adrius didn’t hesitate to take out a glass ball and grab her soul and put it in and then sealing it.
The soul screamed when it was in the ball: “ NOO, let me go!”
Adrius then looked at the ball and laughed: “ Why are you in a hurry? The fun hasn’t started, do you think that for trying to kill me I will just kill your physical body? I will torture your soul until I’m satisfied, and then I will kill it so you won’t have the chance of reincarnation or anything unexpected.”
He then put the ball away and looked at his chest, blood was flowing like a waterfall. He then took out some healing potions and drank them. The blood stopped flowing but the wound didn’t heal. Adrius then took a piece of Emilia’s clothes and tied it around the wound.
‘ This should be fine for now, the exam doesn’t have a lot of time left. I should take their badges as well’ Thought Adrius
He then went around the body and robbed them of everything valuable.
As for badges, Pax had over 30, Kyle had 25 and Emilia had over 60. As for the random girl that was with Emilia she had only 15 badges. Adrius was sure that they didn’t kill 60 or 30 people but they took the badges from someone who has collected, like if someone kills Adrius then all of his badges will belong to that person.
With all the badges being absorbed the number on Adrius’ badge was 230, with that he was sure that he was number one in the exam.
He wanted to win because there are a lot of benefits of winning like resources and other benefits.

‘ After I get out of this place I will break through, I think it time.’ Decided Adrius while sitting on the ground waiting for the exam to end.
Meanwhile at the room the magus was gathering in, there was an intense argument.
“ Croft your bastard apprentice killed two of my best students, and why did he do it? Because Kyle said something he didn’t like.” Screamed Katherine in anger, she was boiling with anger because Pax, her most talented and good student, was killed because someone didn’t like what a colleague of his said. And poor Kyle who was tortured to death by that poison because he said something the other person didn’t like.
Croft looked at her with his pitch dark eyes and said: “ Katherine I think you have gotten too soft these years, I think you forgot that you are a dark magus. And what is the principle of a dark magus? The strong live and the weak die, there is no exception to this rule. If you are strong then you live if you are not then you die. Your students weren’t strong enough so they died, do you know why they weren’t strong enough? It’s because of you, you and everybody in this room know it is true. You only teach your students how to heal and not how to kill and fight and that resulted in their death. And you know that but instead of blaming yourself you are blaming my apprentice because he was the one that executed them where in fact you gave the execution order.”
Everyone was silent after Croft's speech especially Katherine, she knew every word Croft said was true but she couldn’t accept it because if she did then her imaginary perfect world would collapse on itself.
Katherine didn’t know what to answer with, she was old but not like Croft, Croft was 50 years older than her so he has a lot more experience.
“Croft you apprentice is an interesting fella, make sure you teach him very well. And be careful because from the way I see it he is on the edge of insanity so if he started to slip out of your control then you have my permission to eliminate him.” Said the headmaster
Croft stood and bowed to him and said: “ I understand Headmaster, I will keep my eyes open for anything unusual about him.”
The headmaster nodded his head and said: “ Good, I think it is time for the exam to end. Half of the students are already dead, and the rest have proven their potential.”
The magus that explained the rules earlier, stood up, bowed and walked out. He went to the dimension’s portal and started to do something to the portal, and after some minutes students started to appear from the portal.
Adrius was sitting on the ground waiting then he heard a voice in his head: “ To all students the exam is over, now go through the portal that will appear in front of you” After the voice finished the announcement a portal appeared in front of Adrius. He held his mask tightly so no incident will happen and walked in.
The same sensation ran through his body and after seconds he was out into the real world, there were a lot of students but much less than the time they entered the dimension.
‘ It was a good exam, I have achieved everything I wanted’ Thought Adrius.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
