《Magus Of Darkness》Chapter 23: Yearly exam II

Meanwhile at a beautiful and well designed room, there were around 20 people watching screens showing the exam. One of the screens was showing what Adrius had done to the poor girl who saw his face.
“Croft your apprentice is crazy, you should control his actions!” Said a beautiful woman, she had blonde hair, golden eyes and she wore golden magus robes. Her name was Katherine, the only healing magus in the academy, she would insult Croft whenever she had the chance to.
Croft turned his head to her and said: “ Crazy? So what? The strong eats the weak, and as you see that girl was not strong enough to survive. And did you forget what the purpose of this exam is?”
Katherine wanted to answer Croft but a voice cut her before she could speak: “ That's enough!” The voice came from a man sitting in a chair that was higher than everyone else, it was the headmaster of the academy. The only rank 2 magus and the strongest in the academy. He was very handsome with short brown hair, ice cold blue eyes and a cold expression.
Everybody shut his mouth when the headmaster spoke and continued watching the exam.
While this argument was happening Adrius was walking around looking for people to take their badges.
He had a tube in his hand, it was the same poison he gave to the girl he killed a few minutes ago. It was a poison that targets the nerve system, and makes the target go through immeasurable pain. And even if the target can get rid of the poison then the pain will probably break their mind if they didn’t have strong will. He created this poison by help of a poison he made in his previous life, he has made some upgrades and now the poison can kill everyone under the rank 2 magus apprentice with a 100% success rate. It has the chance to kill a newly advanced rank 2 magus apprentice.

Adrius then hid the tube in his pouch that was hanging from his hip. He walked for some time until he heard screaming and fighting noise.
He headed toward it immediately, he was sure no one could kill him in this exam, he was at the peak and he maybe is the strongest person in this exam right now. But it didn’t make him less cautious, if he sees something he can’t deal with he would run without hesitation. Even if his reputation gets down, who cares? Which is more valuable: his reputation or his life? Of course it is his life. So he will run without hesitation if there is a threat he can’t handle.
He got to the fighting place very quickly, there were two students fighting. Their aura told Adrius that they weren’t at the peak but around 14-15 points. So he was confident of killing them both, but he didn’t move from his place. But he hid himself and aura and waited for one of them to die, then he attacks and get two badges without any effort.
The 2 students were focusing on the fight so they didn’t notice Adrius who was watching them from the bushes.
After 30 minutes one of the students fell on the ground lifeless, there was a dagger inside his heart.
The other student sighed a sigh of relief: “ Sigh” That was inten…” Before he could finish his words a black arrow entered his brain, and he fell down dead.
Adrius then walked out from his hiding place and looted their bodies, he didn’t find anything valuable. Except the dagger, but the dagger he had was a lot better then the one in the student’s heart, so he left it.
“Get out and stop hiding!” Said Adrius in a cold voice.
Then a group of 3 students walked out from the forest and faced Adrius. There were two girls and one guy in the group and they all had magic points around 13-14.
The girl in front who Adrius thought was the group leader talked first: “ Mr. Adrius we didn’t mean to annoy you, we were just walking by and saw the fight”

Adrius looked at her with a cold look:” So what? If you give me your badges then I will let you live!” Threatened Adrius
The guy then screamed at Adrius: “ Who the fuck do you think you are? We are 3 and you are one, if we want we will kill you!”
The leader’s face went pale, because she knew that her dumb brother just destroyed the only chance of them walking without a fight.
“ I see, then no one of you will get out today!” Saying That Adrius drew the sword that he had on his left hip, he brought it with him because it can help him if his magic power is finished and he has to wait for it to fill again.
The girl sighed and drew her daggers too, the boy drew his sword and the other quiet girl started to take out a saber.
Before they were all prepped Adrius attacked he used shadow step to get in front of the quiet girl she didn’t take out her saber yet so she didn’t have anything shielding her from the blow that was coming. When the other two reacted it was too late, the girl’s head was rolling on the grass.
“ No! I will fucking kill you” Screamed the boy with anger, the girl was his girlfriend and Adrius has just killed her without flinching.
Adrius laughed an evil laugh and said: “ I would like to see you try to do that.”
Then the boy felt as if something hit him in the face, he went down on the floor and dropped his weapon. Then his weapon started to float and got to Adrius. Adrius threw it behind him on the girl's body.
The boy got up again and took out a dagger, he then nodded to his sister and she nodded back. They then attacked together, Adrius was ready, he started to block and chop with the sword. He even took out his dagger and used it as a parrying dagger.
He was using shadow steps to make him faster and make the siblings tired fast. The older sister noticed it very fast and stopped following him around, but the brother didn’t take his sister's advice and continued following Adrius.
Adrius then stopped and turned to face the brother, the brother came very close to him and tried to slash him with his sword, he retrieved it in the fight. But then a black smoke appeared around adrius and covered them both, the sister had a very bad feeling about the smoke and she ran to it trying to break it but she couldn’t. Then after seconds the smoke disappeared and Adrius appeared with the guy’s head in his hand. The head had a face of terror and disbelief.
“ NOO!” Screamed the girl, when she saw her brother’s head in Adrius’s hand.
Adrius then laughed and said: “ He wasn’t brave after all, do you know what he said in the smoke? He said “Mom, sister help me” while he was crying.” Said Adrius with a mocking tone.
“ I will fucking kill you even if it means my death” Screamed the girl.
She started to run toward him but after some steps she fell down on the floor and started to scream and spasm like a crazy person. Her vocal chords were torn apart by her screams, after minutes of pain she finally died.
“Hmm, she lived longer than the first one. Interesting?” Said Adrius, he has covered his weapons with his new poison. Thus if someone gets scratched then they are doomed. And he doesn’t have to fight for a long time.
“ Now I have 7 badges, my luck is really getting better” Said Adrius with a grin, he was also happy because creeping darkness worked.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.

Princess of Peace [BNHA]
I felt all the color drain from my face and dropped back onto the bed not sure I could stand. "You mean-...I'm a-... father?" It sounded like Ayumi was struggling to breathe, "Yes...I'm not calling to make you feel guilty...it's just...there was an accident, it doesn't look like I'm going to make it, and-." Her voice cracked, "I know you weren't ready for a family and its unfair of me to do this to you, but you're the only I trust enough to care for her..." Her?
