Chapter 540. Go Back to Chen Kingdom (2)Translator: Guy Gone Bad
Mo Fei blinked and then said, “Headmaster, what’s the situation of Ji family now? Any clue?”
The fat headmaster sneered at once, “Ji family has such a big cause, but with no successor. The young generation has few talents. And now you killed four of their level ten masters, which greatly weakened their power. You know, Ji family has occupied a lot of fat resources, which lots of people have been eyeing.”
“So many masters of Ji family died. Other big families finally couldn’t hold it and make moves. I heard a few big families united to devour nearly half of their industries. I wonder how things are now.”
Mo Fei was surprised, “If so, Ji family is in a total mess now.”
Fat principal nodded, “You can say that.”
Mo Fei took a deep breath, “Fortunately, Lou Yu did not take over the position as their master. If he took it over, instead of getting some benefits, he even would have to pay for it.”
“It’s good he didn’t take it over. You are still young, and promising. You don’t have to cling to power. For the position of a family’s master, he might have buried his potentials.” Finally, the fat headmaster even got a bit melancholy.
Lou Yu nodded approvingly, “Shifu, you are absolutely right.”
Qian Ye looked at the fat headmaster, and said after a bit hesitation, “Headmaster, how is Xiaocai?”
The fat headmaster gave a helpless smile, “That kid is super talented, and has improved rapidly. But now he only worries about where you have gone, when you’d come back. Go check in him later. He missed you so much.”
Fat schoolmaster’s eye swept across everybody body, immediately he got stunned, “Hmm? Qian Ye, Lou Yu and Mo Fei, you got made it to level ten?”

“Yeah!” replied Mo Fei.
“That’s my disciples! Except me, who could teach out so many talents? I am so goddamn good! I told you, how could that thin bamboo pole ever be better at teaching than me?” said the headmaster complacently.
Mo Fei rubbed his nose, thinking: But it seems to have nothing to do with you! If we only rely on your script teaching people to swindle, lie and rob, getting promoted to level ten is daydreaming!
The fat headmaster rubbed his hands and could barely suppress the excitement in the heart. Level ten under twenty! Even down in history of Chen Kingdom there were few such figures. Now he got three of them! See who dares to say he is bad in teaching!
“What are you going to do next?” The fat headmaster asked the group.
Lou Yu frowned and said, “I want to go to Chen and see where my grandfather used to live.”
Fat headmaster nodded as he said, “There’s still some time before the mainland comes to enroll new disciples. You can go travel around and see the outside world. Although you are power enough now, when traveling out, you should keep a low-profile. You know, no matter how strong you are, there’s always someone stronger. You know, crouching tiger, hidden dragon. There are a lot of masters out there.”
Mo Fei tilted his head, and said, “Headmaster, are there any very powerful people in Feng Kingdom?”
Fat headmaster squinted, “Chen Kingdom is a bit more powerful than Chen Kingdom. When the Mainland came for the selection, Feng Kingdom often got selected. And after those people got enrolled, they’d assist their original family, which already benefits their family enormously.”
Mo Fei nodded, and if he was enlightened, “I see!”

Narrowing his eyes, Lou Yu asked, “Shifu, has anyone from the Ji family ever gotten enlisted into the mainland?”
Fat headmaster shook his head, “Urgh, I am not very clear. But Ji family mostly awakened their thunder star source force. You know, thunder star source force magicians are very appreciated in the mainland. So it’s quite possible they have gotten enlisted and entered the mainland.”
Lou Yu nodded and replied, “I see.”
“Headmaster, headmaster, bad news! Xiao Jin has eaten those two Snow Spirit Rats Teacher Wang has raised!” An anxious voice was heard outside.
Fat headmaster suddenly made a tremble, “Oh no, oh no! That girl cherishes her two rats very much! Xiao Jin starts to make trouble once he came back! I have to hide away. You guys fend for yourselves!”

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.
