So painful that Elena could no longer endure it. Her chest was so sore that the darkness drew her consciousness. Blood began to pour out of her clothes.

Seeing Elena lying on the floor made Edward rise to his feet. He saw Elena's blood soaking all over his clothes quickly. That meant that Edward's wounds were deep. And see where the stab was. After all, if Elena didn't die because her heart was stabbed, Edward was sure that the woman would have died from blood loss.
