Alain didn't feel he and his Charizard is strong enough to face Julian's Infernape but since he is the one who challenged Julian he needs to step up and battle.

He looked at Charizard and nodded his head signaling Charizard to step back into the battlefield again, since Charizard trusted him it didn't give it a second thought and flew into the battlefield and took its stance. ​​

Julian is impressed, if it was any other trainer they might not want to battle Julian after seeing their Pokemon run away by just being glared at by the opponent's pokemon but Alain still wanted to continue battling.

Julian didn't make Alain wait and sent out his pokemon into the battle, Alain was curious as he wanted to know which Pokemon Julian is willing to send out for the battle.

As soon as Alain saw Julian's pokemon enter the battlefield, he got a little excited as he saw Julian's Darmanitan enter the battlefield, Alain has seen this pokemon in action in the Unova League and was impressed by how Darmanitan used its moves.

He tried to copy Darmanitan's style but it backfired and injured his Charizard which made Charizard unable to train for a whole week, Alain wasn't going all out while replicating Darmanitan's style so the backlash was not that great.

Now he will have a better view and the pokemon right in front of him.

Darmanitan entered the battlefield and looked at his current opponent, as soon as he saw the Charizard in front of him, he got a little disappointed, he wanted to create some explosions and have fun but the opponent that is in front of him is too week.

He turned around and looked at Julian wondering if this Charizard is really his opponent, Julian saw Darmanitan's gaze and knew what he is thinking so he just nodded his head.

Darmanitan turned his head back at Charizard and wondered what Julian is planning to do.

Sycamore stepped in and decided to be the referee as well.

Sycamore said and gave the go to start the battle, even he is a little excited as he wants to observe the Mega Evolution process of Alain's Charizard and he believes Alain will be forced into Mega Evolving his Charizard as he is facing Julian.

He looked at his assistant Sophie and signaled her to record everything, she nodded and pointed the wide-angle camera in her hand at the battlefield, waiting for the battle to start.

Alain didn't wait and went directly for the attack.

Alain "Use Dragon Claw"

He commanded. His Charizard flew up in the air and dove down at Darmanitan at full speed, its arms got surrounded by powerful pulsing energy which turned into a shape of claws, Julian looked at the advancing Charizard and is surprised by its speed, it is very decent.

Julian "Rollout"

Julian decided to go light on his first counter and he wanted to see if Alain's Charizard will be able to take on his Darmanitan head-on like this.

As Charizard got closer to Darmanitan, Darmanitan used Rollout and started to spin rapidly and charged forward, soon both pokemons made contact creating a powerful shockwave causing everything to be blown away, dust rose up high in the air, and soon Charizard was sent flying through the dust.

Charizard quickly stabilized itself by using its massive wings and landed back on the ground, it didn't seem to have taken much damage but the backlash from the collision was still very powerful causing Charizard to be pushed back.

Julian is impressed. He looked at Alain and decided to give him a little more time.

Julian "If you want to even put up a fight, it is better to Mega Evolve now, you won't get a chance when Darmanitan moves again"

Julian said.

Alain is not an idiot nor is he arrogant, he took Julian's advice and pulled out his Keystone, and activated the Mega Evolution process, the Keystone in his hand shone brightly and started to react with the Mega Stone around Charizard's neck.

Soon the light from both stones started to fuse and Charizard started to change its form, its wings started to change, its body got a little thicker as well, as soon as the Mega Evolution light faded away Julian was able to see Charizard in its Mega Evolved form.

Mega Charizard X, to this day Julian has seen only two Mega Evolved Charizards, one belongs to Ash and the other he is seeing right now, Ash's Charizard Mega Evolved in Mega Charizard Z during the final battle between him and Ash in the Hoenn League finals and now he is looking at Mega Charizard X.

Sycamore is also very excited as he glace at Sophie and hoped that she is recording everything properly.

Julian looked at Mega Charizard X and realized that it looked quite similar to Mega Charizard Z but instead of being dark green with green flames, it is black in color with blue flames.

Julian carefully looked at Mega Charizard X and noticed the massive change in the aura around it, it felt much more powerful and its blue flames looked much more destructive and hotter.

Darmanitan also noticed the changes and a little glint flashed in his eyes which soon disappeared as his opponent just got a lot stronger than before but still not a match to him, Darmanitan wondered if he will be able to Mega Evolve, he wondered how big of an explosion he can create if he Mega Evolves.

Too bad for him, Julian couldn't find any Mega Stone that resonated with Darmanitan, to this day no one has ever come across a Mega Stone for Darmanitan.
