With both Elite-Four members in their respective position, it is clear that they are ready to battle, the referee also took his place and looked at both trainers and started to explain the rules.

Referee "This battle is a one on one pokemon battle, the battle will not end until one of the pokemon goes down, are the rules clear?" ​ ​

Hearing the rules both Shauntal and Caitlin nodded their head, a one on one pokemon battle doesn't have many rules, the only rule is to defeat the other pokemon.

Referee "Since both trainers are ready, you may choose your pokemon"

With the referee's call both Caitlin and Shauntal took out their Pokeball and tossed it up in the air revealing their respective pokemon to the world, the ones who are going to battle today.

Shauntal sent out her Chandelure, a Ghost/Fire-type pokemon, a very strong special attacker with good speed, defense, and special defense, the only thing that it lacks in are endurance which is its health and its physical attack.

Caitlin sent out her Reuniclus, a psychic type pokemon, a strong special attacker with very good endurance and health, they also have average defense and above-average special defense.

The thing that they lack behind is in their speed and below-average attack stat, especially their speed, they are very slow and are often getting hit by their opponents.

Julian looked at both these pokemons and could tell that they are equally matched but from just a general perspective Shauntal's Chandelure clearly has the advantage here, it has a higher special attack stats and is way faster and on top of that, it has an advantage over Reuniclus.

Caitlin was clearly at a disadvantage and she will have to play smart to win this battle.

Referee "You may begin the battle"

After seeing both trainers had sent out their pokemon in the battlefield, the referee didn't make the viewers wait any longer and started to battle by waving the flags in his hand, the crowd burst into a cheer as the battle started.

Shauntal made the first move and called out a Flamethrower, she is going big from the first.

Shauntal "A good beginning is very important, whether it if for a good novel or a good pokemon battle"

Caitlin "I won't deny that claim, Reuniclus, use Psychic"

As Caitlin called out her move her Reuniclus floated up in the air and surrounded itself with a transparent pink aura, as the Flamethrower got closer to it, the Flamethrower suddenly exploded causing everyone to exclaim in surprise.

Julian saw this and his eyes went wide, this was the first time he has seen someone Psychic like this, Psychic is a very diverse move and it takes no attack from it is always similar, it depends on how the pokemon and trainer have come to use it.

Caitlin and her Reuniclus have figure out that Psychic is very fluid and can be used in any way, shape or form, it can be used just like any normal beam attack, or it can directly target their opponents and gain control over their body and leave them helpless or they can either do what Caitlin just did.

Create a spot to concentrate all of Reuniclus's energy and when the Flamethrower engulfed that spot, the energy was released, destroying the Flamethrower from inside.

Julian was surprised, even he hadn't thought about using Psychic like that, he always used them to get full control over his opponent's pokemon and use it as a wave attack so that the opponent can not dodge it.

Julian thought about the move Caitlin and her Reuniclus just pulled off and put it in a simulation inside his head, this move was indeed devastating, he knows how potent an attack can become if all the power is concentrated into a small space, this was the same but for it to work, the opponent's pokemon would have to get close to the spot where the concentrated psychic energy is.

And when it comes to some pokemons they can easily sense psychic energy, such as ghosts, dark, and other psychic type pokemons.

This will be hard to pull off but then Julian thought of something and slapped his thighs, he remembered the land mines from his previous life, they were the most dangerous thing a soldier can come across, they won't even know how they died, their body would have already been obliterated.

If Caitlin can set these energy spots all over the battlefield then it can be a success but she will also have to find a way to mask them from her opponent's pokemon who is a ghost type pokemon.

To mask these mines Julian would use his pokemons aura to cover them up but to successfully do that the pokemon needs to be very, very strong, the aura that it releases should be very thick and that can be very difficult, maybe his Gardevoir can do that.

As he looks at Caitlin's Reuniclus, he knows that it cannot pull off something like this, but this is not his battle, he decided to continue watching and see how this really ends up and how is Caitlin planning to use this new way of using Psychic to her advantage.

Shauntal is also surprised by Caitlin's counter and knew that she cannot afford to come in contact with that energy spot, she didn't notice it before but as soon as her pokemon's Flamethrower exploded she suspected it and her Chandelure confirmed her suspicion, her Chandelure is not resistant to psychic type attacks so those energy spots can be devastating but she knows that he is not the end.

Her Chandelure can sense these energy spots and can easily avoid them, and right after their first exchange both trainers tensed up and knew that this battle is even harder than their last battle because both of them have grown a lot.

Julian watched and smiled.
