The competition will start in a few minutes and Julian is soon escorted to the room where he will be during the competition.
When he enters he sees a man in a black suit and tie and a middle-aged man in a red suit, from the looks of it the man in a black suit is the announcer and the one in the red suit must be the judge.
Judges in the pokemon battle competitions are not rare but they don't show themselves, a judge has a special camera view of the whole battlefield and his job is to check if someone is cheating or not.
The referee who is in the stadium cannot notice the subtle details but the judge and can as he will be sitting in front of a TV screen which is connected to a special camera that monitors everything in the battlefield.
Julian is a special guest Judge today as he will be helping this man in a red suit look after the battlefield.
"Welcome Mr. Julian, my name is Stefen, I am the judge for this competition"
The man in the red suit is indeed the Judge just as Julian expected and his name is Stefen.
Julian "Nice to meet you too Mr. Stefen"
He says and shakes his hand.
The announcer for this competition also introduces himself to Julian and he does the same and takes his seat, from his viewpoint Julian could see the whole stadium.
And the same could be said for the audience who are already seated, many of them noticed Julian has already arrived and is now looking down on them.
They start to cheer for him and the whole stadium which is still not full gets covered with chants of Julian's name.
Julian smiled and waved at them.

More audience gathered and the competition was about to start, people are getting excited as the clock gets closer.
It starts with a bang and the announcer starts to give his speech.
Announcer "Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to Hearthome city's tag battle competition, the winners of this competition will be given 80000 Pokedollars"
The trainers who are participating in this tournament got excited after hearing the price money they can get, traveling is expensive if you don't know how to use the resources of nature so trainers would love to get their hands on the money.
Announcer "I am joined by our two judges for this competition, first is Mr. Stefen, he is a professional Judge and has judged for 10 years in every pokemon league, and our special guest is the one and only Mr. Julian the previous champion of Kanto and the undefeated trainer"
The announcer introduced Julian and the crowd cheered for him.
Announcer "Now let's begin without any delay, a trainer's partner has already been randomly chosen by a computer. the competition will be a knockout if one team loses they will be eliminated, now let's see who will be our first participants, but before that, Mr. Julian do you have anything to say for our competitors?"
Julian "Yes, just battle with confidence and never underestimate your opponent, they might just pull off something out of nowhere you didn't see coming"
Announcer "Thankyou Mr. Julian now, let's see who will be in our first match"
The announcer said and looked at the huge screen inside the stadium, there are 32 teams and the first battle seems to be between Dawn and her partner named Conway against a pair of young trainers who have a Scyther and a Koffing.
Julian watched in interest as he has never seen a tag battle or participated in it.

Soon the results came up as Dawn and Conway defeated their opponent, Conway used his Slowking as a defense and let Dawn do all the offense with her Piplup.
Julian could see the flaws in their teamwork but for two completely strangers battling together for the first time they were pretty good and this impressed Julian.
The next battle is between two teams of random trainers, soon one team defeated the other and went towards the top 16.
Next match is between the team of Brock and a woman named Holly against two random trainers who are using Yanma and Bagon.
Their opponents are too busy arguing amongst themselves that they lost easily to Brock and Holly with their Sudowoodo and Wingull.
The next battle came as a surprise to Julian as well because Ash has been teamed up with Paul as they face off against random trainers.
Julian wanted to see how these two work together but as he expected they are still arguing with each other.
Luckily their pokemon are very strong compared to their opponents and blow them off easily, but Paul seems to be very disappointed in his Chimchar as he couldn't activate its Blaze ability during the battle.
But they still advanced to the top 16.
After a few more battles, the day ended and the competition came to a stop.
Announcer "That's all for today, tomorrow will be the top 16 of the tag battle competition. Mr. Julian, who do you think performed the best and worse who advance to the top 16?"
Julian "From what I saw the team of Dawn and Conway were the best, they covered up each other's weakness and were easily able to advance forward, as for the worst performance who advanced towards the top 16 is the team of Ash and Paul"
Announcer "Ash and Paul? didn't they won their battle very easily?"
Julian "Indeed, because their pokemons were clearly stronger than their opponents, as for their teamwork that would receive a negative review from me, they had no coordination between them at all, if they continue this they might lose".
Announcer "I see, it is indeed a fair point, as expected of Mr. Julian. And folks that is it, meet you all tomorrow"
With this, the competition came to a stop for the day and trainers returned back to their rooms.
