The Referee looked at Julian then Barbara.

Referee "You may now choose your pokemon" ​​

As Referee said so, Julian took out two pokeballs and tossed it up in the air.

Barbara took a deep breath and looked at Julian.

Barbara thought and tossed two pokeballs of her own as well, two pokemons were released from them, Julian got surprised seeing these pokemon as they are not from Hoenn, one is a Drapion and the other is Abomasnow, one is a Poison/Dark type and the other is a Grass/Ice type.

Drapion could take on Sceptile and Abomasnow has an advantage over both of his pokemon, especially Flygon as he is 4x weak to Ice-type moves.

Announcer "It seems the pokemons Barbara is using are from Sinnoh region, and they have an advantage over Julian's pokemon"

Referee "Are both trainer's ready?"

Barbara "Yes"

Julian also nodded his head and indicated that he is ready.

Referee "Then let the battle begin"

As soon as the referee waved the flags in his hand, Barbara made a move.

Barbara "Drapion, use Toxic spikes on Sceptile. Abomasnow, use Ice Beam on Flygon"

Julian "Flygon fly up and use Air Cutter on the Toxic Spikes, Sceptile X-Scissors on Abomasnow"

Drapion sent numerous Toxic Spikes towards Sceptile and Abomasnow attacked Flygon with a powerful Ice Beam.

Flygon flew up in the air and dodged the Ice Beam and sent multiple Air Cutters and destroyed the Toxic Spikes, Sceptile used Agility and increased his speed and charged towards Abomasnow, his blades glowed as he used X-Scissor on Abomasnow.

Barbara "Abomasnow use Protect, Drapion aim at Sceptile use Toxic Spikes"

Abomasnow put up a shield of energy in front of it and protected itself from the X-Scissors, Drapion sent multiple Toxic Spikes at Sceptile.

As Sceptile hit the shield created by Abomasnow, he shattered it but the power behind his attack was lost so he has to back off.

Flygon, on the other hand, protected Sceptile from the Toxic Spike by destroying it with Air Cutter.

Sceptile back away easily and used Agility once again, Flygon maintained a safe distance and protected Sceptile from behind.

Julian 'She is quite a skilled trainer, she could have easily been in the top 16 or even higher'

Julian though.

Julian "Sceptile, use Energy Ball on both of them"

As Julian said this Sceptile created multiple Energy Balls, they circled around him with extreme speed creating a powerful wind force around him.

Soon he launched them with full power, the speed of these Energy Balls are 3 times a normal one so, Drapion and Abomasnow won't be able to dodge them and have to take it head-on.

Barbara quickly made a move, she knows even of the Energy Balls are not that effective against her pokemons but taking them head-on is sheer stupidity.

Barbara "Both of you, use Protect"

Both Drapion and Abomasnow made an energy shield in front of them and braced themselves.

The Energy Ball starts to hit the shields at a rapid pace, Drapion and Abomasnow are having a hard time keeping the Protect Shield on, soon cracks start to appear on it.

Abomasnow's Protect is already showing signs of shattering as it has already used Protect once.

And it happened, The Energy Balls shattered the Protect Shield and started to hit Abomasnow with sheer force.

Feeling Energy Ball after Energy Ball hitting the same spot, Abomasnow lost its footing and was sent flying back, the speed of the Energy Balls really made a huge impact on the damage and the continuous explosion created a thick smoke on the battlefield which caused everyone's vision to go blind.

Drapion's Protect shield finally shattered and only one Energy Ball hit it, it didn't cause much damage, it sighed seeing there was no more Energy Ball, even it could not take on multiple Energy Balls that are shooting at it like bullets.

Suddenly it felt danger but it was too late.

Julian "Now"

As soon as Julian said this, Flygon appeared right in front of Drapion right from the smoke and opened his mouth to launch a powerful Dragon Pulse right on Drapion's face.

Being hit by a powerful Dragon Pulse right on its face, Drapion was sent flying through the smoke and crashed on the ground.

Barbara couldn't see anything because of all the smoke created by the explosion of the Energy Balls.

Seeing her Drapion and Abomasnow being sent flying out of the smoke made her really tense.

Barbara 'Even though I have the advantage I still cannot go against him head-on, those moves are too powerful'

Soon the smoke got cleared and everyone could see the state of the battlefield, there are miniature cracks on the ground, Drapion and Abomasnow seem to be injured while Flygon and Sceptile are fine, with no scratches on them.

Barbara "Drapion, Abomasnow can you continue"

Hearing her, both her pokemon got up after struggling a little.

Barbara "Abomasnow, continue attacking Flygon with Ice Beam don't let go out of your sight. Drapion get closer to Sceptile, use Poison Fang on it"

As they heard Barbara, Abomasnow collected a large amount of power and launched it at Flygon, Drapion charged towards Sceptile as its outer fangs glowed purple.

Julian "Flygon, fly around. Sceptile, let it get closer"

Flygon started to move around and dodge the continues Ice Beam which is right behind his back following him everywhere he flies.

Drapion came closer to Sceptile and tried to bite down on Sceptile but Sceptile moved away and dodged it and used Agility again to increase his speed.

Barbara "Drapion try to get hold of Sceptile"

Drapion started to swing its massive claws and the claw behind its tail at Sceptile to catch him, Sceptile keeps dodging them and using Agility to increase his speed.

Barbara's pokemon are getting tired by the continuous attacks they are using but none of them are landing on the opponent.

Julian "Let's finish this".
