"Pretty boy, what is the problem? It is so unlike you to be in a bad mood so tell me who dared to upset you. I will surely avenge you," Jasmine said as she snatched the wine glass from his hand.

"It is Catherine," Jeff remarked angrily.

"Oh... Catherine?" Jasmine asked as though she did not hear his words clearly.

"If Cat is the one who made you like this then I take back my earlier word when I said I would avenge you," Jasmine said as she rested her back against the couch.

"Jasmine, why is Catherine so cruel? How could she reject me without giving a second thought about my proposal?" Jeff asked feeling very bitter. From his tone, they could tell that he felt wronged.

"You proposed to Catherine?" Jasmine and Steve chorused in surprise. Even Jackson was shocked to hear what he did.

"Pretty boy, how could you make the mistake of confessing your feelings for her when you both have only met each other on a few occasions?" Jasmine asked as she turned and stare at Jeff.

"What does duration has to do with her brutal rejection? What about people who fall in love at first sight...,"

"Was yours love at first sight?" Jasmine cut him short abruptly.

"What you did is likely to a random guy walking up to me and saying 'Jasmine, marry me'. What do you think will be my response?" Jasmine asked curiously.

"But he didn't ask her to marry him," Jackson intervened.

"I know he didn't directly ask her to marry him but that is what his words mean. Catherine hates getting into a relationship, I know I am partly responsible for this but believe me, even though she wants to get into a relationship it won't be with a guy she barely knows....,"

"I don't think the duration we knew each other had anything to with why she rejected me. She outrightly told me she won't date a prince like me because it is too much of a hassle," Jeff relayed in a sad tone.

"How could she say that my family background is her reason for rejecting me? The most painful part of the rejection is her indifferent attitude...,"

"She only rejected you once and you have this sullen expression on, what will do you if she rejects you for the 100th time? Will you commit suicide?" Jasmine asked sternly.

"Jasmine, he is already heartbroken so please be a little sympathetic," Steve said as he placed his right hand on Jeff's shoulders.

"This is the reality, it shouldn't be sugarcoated or avoided," Jasmine said firmly.

"Jeff, if you want to stand a chance in Cat's life, don't make the mistake of confessing your feelings to her in such a rush. Try to create a unique bond between you and her. Also, take out time to tell her more about yourself. Show her how much you love her with actions and not by mere words because words can be easily forgotten but an action that left a great impact will be impossible to erase from the memory," Jasmine concluded in a soft tone.

"Why are you saying this to him?" Jackson asked when he saw that Jasmine easily supported Jeff's feelings for her friend.

"Because I don't want her to end up like me. That she is my best friend does not mean she had to suffer because of me. I want her to live a blissful life. A life filled with so much love that her heart won't be able to contain it. I want her to love and be loved. If possible I want her to live happily ever after with the one she loves," Jasmine said in a serious tone.

"And you think Jeff is the man who will be able to give her all you have mentioned?" Jackson questioned again. A conversation that should have been between Jeff and Jasmine turned into a battle between the two of them.

"Although he is quite jovial, I know he is a good guy. I know you will say that not all good guys are saints and I agree a hundred per cent with that," Jasmine said.

"That is why I won't spare any man who dares to break my best friend's delicate heart. I know how it feels to be heartbroken that is why I would never let such a man go scot-free. There is no exception, Jeff, ok?" Jasmine said fiercely as she turned to face Jeff.

"Cheer up and stop putting on that sullen expression. I know Cat more than anybody else knows her so just follow all I said and you will be surprised to see that she has fallen in love with you without realising it," Jasmine said as she pats him by the shoulder. She afterwards grabbed the bottle of wine and sipped the content from the bottle.

"You are the one who advised him not to drink so why are you drinking? Are you also heartbroken?" Jackson asked coldly.

The fact that her mood suddenly took a 180 degrees turn upsets him. What hurt him most was that Jasmine will not reveal what was actually wrong with her even though he asked her.

"Because I am happy," Jasmine said carefreely. There was no sign on her face to show that she was happy.

"Is that how people expressed how happy they are?" Jackson asked. Seeing the turnout of the event Steve drew closer to Jeff.

"Jeff, I know you are sad and need to be comforted but with the two of them like this, you won't get the comfort you need so let's give them privacy. Who knows Jack might use this opportunity to make a place in her heart," Steve whispered into Jeff's ears. After taking a glance at them, Jeff stood up from the couch. Steve also did likewise before they headed upstairs.

"I decide how I want to express my happiness so why do you care?" Jasmine said harshly before she crossed her long legs. Jackson quickly stood up from his previous position and came to seat beside her.

"Why does your mood fluctuates a lot? You were so happy a few minutes ago so why are you like this?" Jackson questioned as he stares at the lady who wasn't even staring at him.
