Unpredictable Marriage. Chapter 298

"I did you a favor by getting you married to my son even when you had another man's child. The man wasn't even ready to marry you then, so you should have been grateful to me, but instead, you repaid by goodness and kindness with this betrayal. You went ahead to cheat on my son, and not only that, you got pregnant with a bastard. How did I even fall for your evil tricks?" the old lady inquired in anger.
The woman chuckled loudly as more tears drooped from her eyes.
"You did me a favor, or yourself? You must be daydreaming. I was already pregnant when you came to meet my mother and me with your huge plans. Nobody forced you, and I even told you the current issues I was facing, and you gladly welcomed me, saying that it wasn't a problem. Then my mother asked about your son and how he would react with me being pregnant with another man's child, and you said you would settle his end, which you actually did. You drugged him and got me to sleep with him to push the responsibilities to him. Then when I gave birth to my daughter, you kept telling me to give you a grandson, and once I did that, no woman would be able to shake my stand and position in the family. Then I did give you a grandson, which was not an easy task. I tried drugging your son, but he didn't fall for it. Then I tried tampering with the condoms, but I still couldn't get pregnant, so I had to find another way to get pregnant. So I met up with my ex, and then I got pregnant. Luckily it was a boy, so that's how you came to have a grandson while I escaped from your constant complaints, and guess what, I even gained a foothold at the same time. No woman was able to shake my stand in that family all these years," the woman laughed at the end of her speech, thereby annoying the tiger and tigress, so she received a slap each from them, on both sides of her cheeks.

"You two can hit me all you want, but you can't kill me because if you do, there will be evidence, and you will go to jail and rot there all the remaining days of your miserable lives!" the woman spat out viciously with reddened eyes.
"Killing you will be showing you mercy. But from this moment henceforth, I promise you that you would wish that you were given a quick death rather than wallowing in sorrows and pain!" the man said through gritted teeth.
"And as for you, mother, deal with your mess. I haven't seen any mother out there who would destroy the life of a child she went through pains and difficulty to birth, with her own hands. I will divorce this bitch on Monday and move on with my life. Then you can stay alone in that house and control the servants all you want. But since I am your only child and it is right for me to take responsibility for you, I will do that financially," the man said and walked away.
"Son...son.....you.....you can't do this to me, I am still your mother, and I don't have anyone else to rely on, your father left us a long time ago!" the old lady cried out in agony as she tried to chase after her son, but stopped in her steps when she heard her daughter-in-law laugh loudly.
"Why are you laughing when you are supposed to be thinking about your shameful past, present, and future? It seems like you do not understand the situation you are in now. Do I still need to spell it out for you?" the old lady barked at her.
"Actually, we are in the same situation. But it would be more correct if we were to acknowledge that I am in a better position than you. You are just an old lonely lady who has nobody to look after her. I am not even sure you would be able to set your eyes on your son again, even on your death bed. But as for me, I still have my children here with me, and I can still hook up with another man even if I can't seek refuge from my family, because I at least have that option which you don't have," the woman sneered viciously.

The old lady started before sitting down and continued saying, "You really don't know who you are dealing with. I might be an old lady, but you cannot play games more than me because I taught you what you know now. Do you think I will let you go unscathed? Then you must be joking. You think your children won't turn against you. How about I start with your missing daughter? It's easy for me to penetrate because she is very vulnerable right now. Going back to your family, not bad, but not when I ruin your relationship with them before you reconcile with them. You want to hide under another man's wings, dream on! Because your dirty linen will be hung outside for the world to see. The only option left for you is prostitution, how does that sound, good right?" the old lady asked in a triumphant smile.
"You can only spread my dirty laundry outside when you don't want your son's face anymore. If you want him to be ridiculed by the public; and your family's name trampled upon, and your dirty old haggard face left without a tinge of respect, try calling my name out to the press. Then I will show you that I really learned how to play games well from you. At least I didn't stay by your side for nothing all these years, I learned a few of your tricks," the woman answered while crossing her legs.
"Shame onto you! Even though my son didn't show you, love, he still gave you money and everything you deserved as his wife. He even took care of children that weren't his. At least he didn't abandon them, nor did he have other children outside during the time you two were married. But see how you paid us back...." the woman complained furiously.

The Stormcrow Cycle
Once a powerful and lauded witch, Ba'an salu-Ba'an now lives alone in a cave in the desert, waiting to die. When she rescues an outlander from certain death she becomes embroiled in a deadly game of politics and empire, of heart and soul, but worst of all--of hope and love and a chance at a peaceful future. Can a disgraced witch find a reason to live her life again--and if so, what price must she pay? The Stormcrow Cycle is a trilogy comprising of The Exile, The Lion, and Abomination. Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!

Needletongue, Carrotcake
The world isn't fair. If anything, the inherent injustice of the world is what separates it from the fiction we so adore. Luis Freighthold knew this all too well, and that was why it took a bit longer than it should have to realise when he suddenly had everything he could ever have wanted. Raised in a working-class single-father home, Luis had no other escape than fiction. Specifically, vampire stories of varying quality and genre. There was something appealing about the ability to fly, turn into shadows and become smoke. Danger. An unfamiliarity with the social world that rejected him so. Was it so wrong for him to hope for a different life? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, now he had it—a lust for blood and abilities beyond the understanding of civil man. Could you really say that he had anything left to complain about? A vampire story following an unconventional vampire boy forced to accept that maybe becoming a vampire doesn't magically solve all your problems. As a matter of fact, it might just make a whole bunch of them even worse. Regardless, Luis is prepared to try everything to live up to the vampire books he had previously gorged on. What did it matter that his vampire form had no teeth, replaced instead by a long, needle-tipped tongue? He was still a vampire, wasn't he? Chapters are around 10 A4 pages long, releasing once a week on Mondays, 01:00 CET.
