Samsara Online Chapter 96

Xie Feng picked up the ball, but before he could do anything different, team 1 called a time out.
While the medics carefully moved the collapsed point guard off the court, the rest of the substitute basketball team walked to the bench.
Seeing the indifferent face of the team captain, even the coach said nothing. All the members of Team 1 had their heads down, without daring to look at him.
"So, can anyone tell me what the hell happened in there?". Finally, after many seconds of silence, the team captain said something.
Because the point guard was passed out, Duan Li had no choice but to talk.
"Captain Nangong, when that guy named Yue Kai did the first triple, Duan Li was ready to take him out of the game on the next set. However, that guy ruined everything," Duan Li suddenly smiled and said, "However, apparently, that guy is Mu Wuying's ex-boyfriend".
Indeed, the captain's face changed when he heard the news.
The captain of the regular team of Shanghai University was Nangong Chen, younger brother of Nangong Lei, and second young master of the Nangong Family. This year he is 19 years old.
Because Nangong Chen has no interest in assuming any of his family's businesses or in being part of the government, he simply enjoys spending all day out with friends, running streetcars, or meeting women.
The reason why Nangong Chen studies at Shanghai University, and not in Beijing, is because he can avoid being too controlled by his father. Not only that, when he leaves Beijing, he can use his family name without worrying too much. After all, who in their right mind would want to go against one of the five most powerful political and military families in all of China?
The first time he met with Mu Wuying was on his 15th birthday. At that time Mu Wuying was 20 years old and already the most beautiful woman in the whole capital. From that moment on, Nangong Chen had no eyes for any other woman but her.
Although the number of times he saw her was minimal, it did not change his feelings.
He even proposed to her, only to be cruelly rejected. Nangong Chen could still clearly remember the expression of disgust on Mu Wuying's face when she rejected him.
The cruelest thing is that Mu Wuying did not even seem to notice her expression at that moment. It was as if simply imagining herself with him was enough to make her sick.
Later, Nangong Chen found out that she was dating a boy who was only one year older than he was.

Nangong Chen was furious and destroyed all the precious objects inside his room when he found out that the man who had taken away the love of his life, the woman he had chosen as his, was just a poor nobody with nothing worthy to stand out. A little bastard who was abandoned by his family in an orphanage.
However, just as Nangong Chen was planning to hire assassins to kill that little bastard, he learned that Mu Wuying had ended her relationship with him.
Happy, Nangong Chen registered in the University of Shanghai. But Mu Wuying continued to reject his advances. Only about a year ago his brother told him to forget about her and find another woman.
If there is one person that Nangong Chen fears more than his own father, it is his older brother Nangong Lei. Therefore, although indisposed and without understanding the reason, Nangong Chen gave up on her.
But, now that he finally came face to face with this little bastard, he could release all his accumulated hatred.
"Hehehe... Good... Good information", Nangong Chen nodded apparently satisfied, and while looking at the collapsed point guard with disdain, he said: "I'll be replacing that piece of shit, let's go".
***
The game soon restarted and, due to the fact that team 1's point guard was down, another player entered the court.
From the moment Nangong Chen entered the court, Xie Feng could sense bad intentions from kilometers away. Xie Feng simply ridiculed him on the inside. Without saying a word, he took the two free shots and scored two points for his team.
Nangong Chen seemed indifferent. He picked up the ball and quickly ran with it.
One, two, three, and four!
Surprisingly, Nangong Chen was really adept at basketball. With almost no problem, he just dribbled the ball and dodged the whole team 2!
In just a few seconds, Nangong Chen was under the basket and he jumped hard!
However, when the ball was about to be put into the basket by Nangong Chen, a big hand got in the way.
Xie Feng jumped in the air and now the ball was pressed between his right hand and Nangong Chen's right hand.
"Wha-".
Before Nangong Chen could finish the word, his eyes opened wide.
Xie Feng smiled. But his smile was really bad at this point.
The muscles of his right arm tightened and he put a huge amount of force on the ball.
Nangong Chen could not compete and the result was obvious.
*Bang!*
Nangong Chen fell to the ground, sitting on his butt while resting his hands behind him.

The ball came into the hands of a surprised Du Shen. He did not even understand what had happened before Xie Feng's voice resounded inside the stadium.
"Du Shen!".
Looking ahead, he saw that while Nangong Chen was still dazed on the ground, Xie Feng had already crossed halfway across the field as he looked at him and called for the ball again.
"Damn, this monster!". Even as he murmured in shock, Du Shen breathed into his lungs and threw the ball forward with all his strength!
*Pak!*
The loud sound of the ball hitting Xie Feng's hand made Nangong Chen stand up. He began to chase Xie Feng with a scary expression on his face.
*-*-*-*-*-*
"That guy who just joined the playing field... will suffer a lot soon". Said Shen Xinya. Her gaze was dazed and her eyes seemed confused as she looked at the smile on Xie Feng's face.
"What do you mean?", Yin Yue asked. She was not only Shen Xinya's manager, she was also hired by Shen Xinya's father to protect her. But sometimes, Yin Yue doesn't really understand this 20 years old woman. Sometimes she acts like an old woman, but other times she acts like a little girl, making Yin Yue not know how to deal with her.
Shen Xinya did not answer Yin Yue's question. She just looked at Xie Feng's smile in a daze and confusion.
'Why... Why did that evil demon smile become so familiar but so unfamiliar at the same time?', Shen Xinya's mind was a total mess at this moment.
*-*-*-*-*-*
Xie Feng did not know the reason. But he knew he was definitely having fun right now. He was having a lot of fun watching his enemies look at him with hate and pain, even if it was only child's play for him.
He just couldn't stop smiling.
Soon, Shen Xinya's words proved to be true.
When he arrived at the three-point line, Xie Feng stopped. He ignored Nangong Chen's battle cry behind him, and putting a great amount of strength into his left arm, he shot the ball against the enemy's basket.
*BANG!*
The ball hit the basket and far from entering, it hit the metal basket. The ball was shot back at a horrendous speed!
Xie Feng tilted his head slightly to the side and the ball flew past him.
*Pak!*... "Argh!"... *Bang!*
Three sounds.
The ball hitting something, followed by a cry of pain and someone collapsing to the ground.
Xie Feng looked behind him with an "innocent" expression and saw Nangong Chen lying on the ground holding his nose.
Apparently feeling extremely guilty about what happened, Xie Feng quickly approached him with a worried expression on his face, "Oh no! Are you okay? My God! Your nose is so bloody, don't tell me... The ball broke your nose!".
For the second time in less than 5 minutes, the referee called the medical team.
The medical team was stunned and no longer knew what to think about it. This was undoubtedly the weirdest basketball game ever!
Furious, the referee gave Xie Feng a warning. After what had happened before and now, he could not let it go.
Du Shen, who saw this, raised his glasses and said, "Mr. Referee, my teammate did not break any rules of the game. He shot the ball but failed, the captain of the opponent's team simply had the bad luck to get in the way," with a foxy smile, he said, "Don't you think it's unfair to warn my teammate just because of another player's bad luck?
When the referee heard Du Shun's argument, he froze. In fact, Xie Feng did not break any rules.
Why do I feel that this college student is really the devil incarnate,' thinking this, the referee nodded.
He had no choice but to revoke his previous decision, after all, under Du Shun's logic, Xie Feng did not break any rules.
After all, there was no way that Xie Feng would have the ability to calculate speed, trajectory, analyze his enemy's movements, and throw the ball accordingly, to hit him... right?
Xie Feng didn't seem worried in the least. It was as if the referee's decision, warned or not, was not his problem.
Subconsciously, as he does every time he finds a "fun toy," Xie Feng began to rattle his fingers in a peculiar way.
*-*-*-*-*-*
Shen Xinya was constantly observing Xie Feng and the longer she looked at him, the more sure she was that she knew him from somewhere.
Suddenly, she saw the movement that Xie Feng was making with his fingers.
Her eyes expanded and an amazing gaze flashed in them while she murmured a person's name to herself. A person she thought she would never see again: "Are you... really you?".

The Chronicles of Artharian Dagworth
Back in 2020 there were many theories on how the world would end. From the many religions apocalypses, nuclear wars that would leave the planet inhabitable, global warming doing the same, biological weapons getting out of control, viruses mutating into unstoppable diseases to the dead raising to prey on humanity, either due to a virus or just because hell filled up. Also, aliens, from the war mongering kind to the ones so advanced they didn’t see us as more than worms. And of course there was the fail proof theory that the world would end when the sun died. In a bunch of billion years give or take. Althougth some new scientist were discussing if the end would be on the take side, since when the sun started dying things would go haywire on the entire solar system and we would collide with mercury or maybe mars way before the expanding sun engulfed earth. But I digress… Now, those were the mainstream theories that the everyday Joe, who didn’t know the big secret, worried about. So, if you were to ask me which theory was correct I can tell you that I haven’t seen any little green man, at least not from another planet, and so far the sun is still shining, although it’s been only 9 years since everything went to hell, not the few billions (give or take) the scientist predicted, so that one isn’t ruled out yet. These two aside, I'd say all of them. Hey everyone, this is my first attempt at writing. I have been planning to do it for a really long time, and while this is not the one epic fantasy idea I ever wanted to write, I think it's a good one. The plan is to write an end of the world urban-fantasy series. Think a world like Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Iron druid, where magic is real but exist hidden from society meets the apocalypse. It will be written in first person in the Dresden Files style, no plans for other POV for now. As you probally alredy guessed from my style, english is not my first langague, so while google corrector helps, expect grammar errors, and I'd be gratefull for anyone to point them. I plan to write 2 to 3 chapters a week, 2000-4000 words each. Might change as I get more experience and depends on my free time. Cover image from the colections of getwallpapers.com

In Pursuit of Bark's Finest
On the frontiers of transhumanity’s expansion into the galaxy thousands of light years from the light of Sol, things can get rather chaotic. There are countless millions of nascent interstellar nations securing their interests, pirate ships prospering off plunder and deniable mercenary work, dissidents setting up their own civilizations, and other groups all trying to push an agenda. When these groups crash into each other, the results can become extremely messy and convoluted. Recently, a frontier nation calling itself the Red Star Union has found itself at the focal point of one such complication. A freighter under their protection has been sabotaged, hijacked in interstellar space, and robbed of its cargo. This would be bad enough even if all it were carrying was luxury goods, but the freighter Nebula Plow was carrying more than just normal trade goods. Indeed, her cargo of Non-Orientable Wormholes for use in starship power plants was both very expensive and very, very dangerous. Now the Red Star Union has to worry about a pirate crew running around with several extra devices capable of converting matter into antimatter with negligible energy cost. With those, the pirates could be capable of inflicting untold damage if allowed to leverage their ill-gotten gains into a stronger position, a possibility the Union finds completely intolerable. Unfortunately, all that the Red Star Union has to go on for evidence is two names; that of the captain, and that of the ship. The Captain is going by the possible pseudonym of Fuller, while the ship is named Bark’s Finest. And thus the orders came down to the Union’s Bureau of Starforce Intelligence: find more information on these pirates, conclusively identify them, and figure out where exactly they’ve gone to ground so that the fleet can crush them before they get established. Of the many agents that the bureau assigned to this mission, one would happen to play an important role: Field Agent Madeline Zargosty. This is her story. This story is entirely pre-written, and will have one chapter released per week. If you want to read it all ahead of schedule and get access to some premium-exclusive bonus content, the entire book is available for purchase; links to the appropriate storefront pages will be posted at the end of each chapter. This story is also being posted to Scribblehub.
