Samsara Online Chapter 45

His vision cleared and when Xie Feng opened his eyes, his surroundings had became a whole new world.
The Beginner Village, it was the starting point of every new player. When he left the Beginner Village he was level 13. Right now, there were countless players that have already left the Beginner Village to receive their job advancement, but he was the only one to have passed the Mode Despair trial and to reach level 13.
According to an estimate by Xie Feng, at this point he should be at least two levels ahead of the second player with the highest level in the entire game. This advantage, even if Xie Feng didn't level up, would probably last for about 4 to 5 days. That's how scary the amount of experience was that was needed to get to the next level.
Although Xie Feng was 99% sure that at this point he was the player with the highest level, he can't check it out completely as the level ranking will open when a certain amount of players leave the Beginner's Village and arrive in Eminentis City.
He appeared in a large plaza, but although it was big, it was not very spacious, there were already many players crowding around, often there would be flashes of white light that signified new players arriving from the Beginner Village.
In the back of Xie Feng there was a huge blue crystal. This huge crystal was the resurrection point.
When players are killed by monsters, another player or an NPC, they are automatically sent to the pre-programmed resurrection point by the player.
That is, if a player sets his resurrection point in Eminentis City but is on the other side of the map and is killed for some reason, the player will be automatically sent to Eminentis City.

This can be considered a great disadvantage when doing missions since at first players must explore the map slowly on their own and if they are killed, most of the process and all the time invested will be wasted.
Xie Feng put the 15 basic status points he had available to Intelligence (INT). He then took out the green scroll Wind Steps and tore it up.
With a green flash, the scroll exploded into particles of light and entered his body.
Even without having equipped anything different due to the difference in level of the equipment acquired, Xie Feng reopened his status window.

Yet, although his equipment did not change at all, his status window changed almost completely. These are the advantages of the Creator of Myth title and the rewards for passing the test in the hardest mode.
Even without changing his equipment, Xie Feng became much stronger than he was a day ago.
With a satisfied smile on his face, he began to walk toward his destination.
***
After walking for 20 minutes following the directions on the map, Xie Feng arrived in front of a large shrine.
The shrine was so high that he could not see the height of the ceiling unless he walked away from it. The two huge doors were wide open and a lot of players were running in, as if they were afraid of missing a half-price sale fair.
With a mocking smile, Xie Feng put on the mask he had bought a few days ago in the Beginner's Village. He bought this mask because what would happen next would attract unwanted attention.
Marking a great contrast with the rest of the players, Xie Feng slowly entered the sanctuary.
The interior of the sanctuary was incredibly simple compared to its magnificent exterior appearance. There were only 8 rooms, but one of the 8 doors, the one at the end, was completely closed unlike the others.
Xie Feng walked into the first room and entered. Inside the room there was a huge pillar that seemed to reach the sky and had the symbol of a warrior carved into it. This room and this pillar would only be chosen by those players who wish to become sword or spear warriors.
Surrounding the pillar there were a lot of players and for every second that passed, a new warrior was born.
Xie Feng advanced towards the pillar and touched it lightly with his right hand.
Swoosh!
A light shot out of the pillar and into his body, however, less than a second later, the light came out of his body as if frightened by something and exploded into pieces.
Seeing this, many players looked at him and expressed their confusion. Some of them even began to mutter to each other.
Xie Feng did not seem surprised, he left the warrior room and went to the next room, the pillar of priests.
But the result did not surprise Xie Feng either. When the light entered his body, it quickly receded and exploded, as did the pillar of warriors.
Pillar of Warrior.
Pillar of Priest.
Pillar of Wizard.
Pillar of Guardian of Shields.
Pillar of Assassin.
Pillar of Archer.
Pillar of Summoner.
All obtained the same result: failure.
Xie Feng came out of the seventh room, now with a large number of players following him, creating a huge crowd.
He looked to his right and saw that the eighth room that was closed had now opened by itself.
Without saying a word, Xie Feng walked indifferently into the room.
Seeing this, many players looked at each other and followed him in a hurry. But when they tried to pass through the door, an invisible energy barrier sent them flying several meters away.
Only after 20 people were sent to fly, the rest of the players understood that they were not allowed to enter that room so they could only look at each other in dismay. Some of them left the room, but most of them waited for Xie Feng to come out.

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
