My Senior Brother Is Too Steady Chapter 503

Chapter 503 Interesting Soul
Silence.
In the main tent of the Heavenly Soldiers’ camp, Wei Shenmo sat upright in the main seat. His gaze swayed left and right. He tried his best to slow down the circulation of his immortal power, afraid that any commotion would break the silence.
Outside the main tent, a few Heavenly Generals who were pretending to be passing by secretly observed the situation.
The group of Chan School and Jie School immortals sat opposite each other. At that moment, Daoist Duobao was the leader. The seat opposite Daoist Duobao was empty. It was estimated that Guang Chengzi was on the way.
Of course, the Primordial World did not have the trend of turning clouds into horses.
Li Changshou moved a meditation cushion and sat in the middle of the tent, enduring the pressure that he should not have been under at his age.
If the fools in Xiong Village did not cause trouble for the Sea God Sect in the beginning…
If I did not cozy up to the Great Daoist Master back then…
Now, he should be a Golden Immortal who was slightly stronger. He could live carefreely in the Little Qiong Peak. The things he had to consider were how to disguise himself, flirt with me, raise flowers, plant trees, refine Ambition Pills, and make Poisonous Dragon Wine. Unlike now, he was sitting between the two largest immortal Dao factions in the Three Realms, thinking about how to balance the two sects and prevent everyone from fighting.
The two auras that were like millstones were slowly crushing his sturdy body…
He recalled that when he chose to sit in the middle of the two sects, Qiong Xiao took the opportunity to pull him down. He really broke out in cold sweat.
Youngest sister-in-law and brother-in-law were easily disliked! Li Changshou was very confident about the rumors about Heng’e. As time passed, he would be able to destroy them.
However, the rumors about his sister-in-law could not be washed away. It was easy for Yun Xiao to lose her composure and make a mistake…
Li Changshou tried his best to persuade Qiong Xiao to stay beside the Goddess of Turtle Spirit.
Qiong Xiao was actually not familiar with him. She had deliberately gotten close to him this time because she wanted to show off to Chan School.
“Ahem.”
In the silence, Bai Ze could not help but stand up. He bowed to Daoist Duobao and Chi Jingzi and smiled.
“Everyone, why have you come today? We can’t stay here forever. Everything can be discussed, but we have to say a few words first.”
Daoist Duobao cupped his hands and smiled. “Actually, it’s nothing much. It’s just that I haven’t seen Changgeng for a long time. I’m here to stroll around and look for treasures.
The junior brothers of Chan School are also interested in the Blood Sea Red Lotus?” Chi Jingzi forced a smile and pondered for a while. He said, “In the past, when the Pangu God opened the world, the Chaos Green Lotus suffered a calamity. A few lotus seeds landed everywhere in the world and turned into a few twelfth-grade lotus flowers. This red lotus absorbs endless negative karma. If it is born, it will definitely cause misery and suffering… It has to be destroyed.”
Qiong Xiao pulled a long face and said crisply, “Fellow Daoist, you’re wrong! How can treasures be divided into good and evil? The twelfth-grade Golden Lotus of the Western Sect was a Golden Lotus of Merit. It was opposite to the Red Lotus of negative karma. The Western Sect used the Golden Lotus of Merit to suppress the sect’s luck. However, they usually did evil deeds everywhere. Could it be that the evil deeds they have done have become good because of the protection of the Merit Golden Lotus?”

Chi Jingzi continued to ponder, but he could not answer.
Perfected Huang Long said, “That’s not the same thing.”
“Things are different, but the logic is ordinary.” Qiong Xiao changed the topic. “Brother-in-law, don’t you think so?”
Li Changshou looked up and smiled. He nodded slowly and sighed.
“In that case… If we discuss here, it will be difficult for us to convince the masses even if we come to a conclusion. Why don’t I invite the Senior Brothers and Senior Sisters of Chan School and Jie School to the edge of the Blood Sea to discuss the matter regarding the twelfth-grade negative karma red lotus in the name of Ren School? I will work hard to mediate this matter and give everyone a fair explanation. How about that?”
Perfected Yu Ding sighed slowly and looked at Li Changshou with admiration.
The Golden-Winged Roc wiped the corners of its eyes and raised its head with its hands behind its back. It sighed softly. “In the end, Teacher shouldered everything.”
Li Changshou was rendered speechless.
It was not that noble.
That could only be considered the price he had to pay for being able to invite a large number of experts from the two sects to help. Daoist Duobao smiled and said, “There’s no need to find out. I’ve just spread the news and asked my junior brothers and sisters, who have nothing to do, to gather here as soon as possible.”
Chi Jingzi also said, “Senior Brother Guang Chengzi and the others are already on the way. There’s no need to shout here.” The corners of Li Changshou’s mouth twitched. Are you guys going to shake me up the moment you see me?! If he did not handle this well today, they would really fight.
He had to be steady. Later, he would first make a disclaimer and set himself up as a “fight mediator”. As for whether he could successfully do it or not, it would depend on his ability.
Perfected Taiyi smiled and said, “The Jie School is known to have tens of thousands of immortals coming to the court. They naturally have the advantage of more manpower. Senior Brother Duobao, don’t call the disciples of the 1,800 Saints over.”
Daoist Duobao smiled and did not say anything. Although he wanted to say that the Jie School had promised not to send Junior Sister Yun Xiao out first, considering his Eldest Senior Brother’s dignity…
It was better to keep his words to himself.
Qiong Xiao rolled her eyes and stood up. She shouted softly, “Brother-in-law, I’ll make you some tea!”
Li Changshou blinked at Qiong Xiao. The latter smiled and blinked back, causing Li Changshou to be on tenterhooks.
This person does not know his place…
Bai Ze stood up in time and smiled. “Fairy Qiong Xiao can rest here. How can I let you do it? I’ll go get some tea and snacks. Wait a moment.”
At the crucial moment, Mr. Bai was still the best.
Qiong Xiao pursed her lips and sat back on her seat, feeling dispirited. Silence followed…
Even if there were no other sounds, Li Changshou could imagine the “silence” of the cicadas in the summer and afternoon.
After a while, Bai Ze brought a huge plate of exquisite snacks to the two fairies and retreated to the corner gracefully.
Wei Shenmo asked softly, “Water God, why don’t we tear down the main tent and expand the area?”
“That’s right. When there are more people later, this place will indeed be too narrow.”

Li Changshou stood up and smiled. “The Reincarnation Pagoda is a good place to go. Why don’t we go back again?” Daoist Duobao said, “Alright.” The immortals of Chan School did not have any objections.
Therefore, without Ksitigarbha’s approval, the immortals from the Dao Sect naturally occupied the top floor of the Reincarnation Pagoda. They used the Mustard Seed Cosmic technique to temporarily transform the originally spacious top floor into a magnificent hall.
Not long after, the immortals of the two sects arrived.
Eight of the twelve Golden Immortals of Chan School had arrived. Four to five Golden Immortals of Fu De had appeared. Dozens of ordinary disciples and disciples of the Saints had also arrived. On the other hand, Jie School was much more complicated. Most of them rushed over according to the Immortal Island. 200 people from Golden Ao Island, 80 from Nine Dragons Island, 100 from Penglai Island, and so on. Li Changshou recalled a joke from his previous life.
“You will never know how many fighters can get off a five-element carriage.”
In the Primordial World, the joke was also common.
“Don’t jump to conclusions. How many immortals can a white cloud fly out of Jie School!?!”
There are too many disciples of Jie School…
Li Changshou could not help but ask, “Even if the twelfth-grade red lotus was taken away by Jie School, could it really suppress such teachings?”
In the ancient times, the seniors and experts who had walked to the front of the cultivation path first could earn merit if they told some superficial Dao and logic to some mountain grass, insects, birds, and turbid spiritual beasts.
That was enlightenment.
Li Changshou now suspected that there were so many disciples of the Saints in Jie School. Could it be that Aunt-Master Tongtian had chatted “happily” when he was enlightening living beings in the ancient times and directly imparted the Dao…
On the top floor of the Reincarnation Pagoda, Ksitigarbha sat in a corner with a black face. He folded his arms and did not dare to say anything about the current situation.
Truth Listener revealed its true form of a mighty and domineering divine beast. It lay on the ground and hid itself. It closed its eyes and pretended to sleep.
While waiting for the immortals from both sides to gather, Li Changshou found an excuse and temporarily escaped.
He, Bai Ze, and the Golden-Winged Roc found an empty corner outside Fengdu City and began to secretly search for the method of finding the red lotus…
“I’ve already found 99 suitable souls,” Bai Ze said softly. “They all have many negative karma, but they were mortals when they were alive. However, there is one thing that the Golden Roc had previously tried with the two souls in the sea of blood. The soul itself is prone to the invasion of the sea of blood and will collapse in a moment.”
Li Changshou thought for a while and said, “Use some immortal spells to protect their True Spirits. We’re just borrowing their power and not letting their souls dissipate.”
The Golden-Winged Roc said, “Teacher, these are people plagued by negative karma. It’s not a pity if their souls are destroyed.”
“No,” Li Changshou said seriously. “Since the other party has already entered the Eighteen Levels of Hell and is not being burned to death or struck by lightning, it means that there is still a chance for us to suffer and atone for our sins. Since we are immortals, we cannot give up on living beings.”
The Golden-Winged Roc pondered and nodded slowly.
Bai Ze took out a pink transparent ball from his sleeve. There were 99 light spots floating inside.
“Water God, should we test if this method works?”
Bai Ze gave a neutral suggestion. “If it works, we will have more opportunities to speak when we negotiate with the other two sects later.” Li Changshou pondered carefully for a while and took out a paper effigy from his sleeve. He nodded and said, “In that case, the Golden Roc will bring my incarnation there. Mr. Bai and I will try our best to stabilize the situation and stall for time.”
“Okay!”
The Golden-Winged Roc agreed and rushed to the Blood Sea with Li Changshou’s paper effigy.
Li Changshou was multitasking. He immediately discussed with Bai Ze how to “uphold justice” later.
In short, the core point of view must not be shaken.
“Jie School is too powerful. Weaken the Western Sect.”
Li Changshou and the Golden-Winged Roc rushed into the sea of blood and entered the depths of the sea of blood to find a suitable place to release their souls.
Li Changshou sat on the back of the giant roc and took out six souls filled with negative karma in the Dharma artifact. He used his immortal power to wrap the souls and true souls and left a wisp of his Dao runes on them to distinguish them.
Li Changshou sized up the six thumb-sized souls and could not help but be interested in a young man dressed like a scholar. He looked haggard and weak. He had committed some kind of crime to accumulate so many negative karma and be thrown to the eighteenth level of hell to suffer.
Li Changshou raised his hand and tapped lightly. He untied the soul and turned it into a phantom the size of a normal person. He knelt in front of him.
The scholar’s body trembled for a while. His eyes, which were already numb from the torture, became a little more colorful…
“Have I… suffered enough?”
Li Changshou asked, “Are you an evil person?”
The scholar looked up and sized Li Changshou up. His expression was calm, but his body relaxed.
There were many evil spirits and ferocious spirits in hell. Most of the ghostly servants disguised themselves as ferocious-looking. When they suddenly saw such a kind-looking old immortal, they did not feel afraid.
He explained in a weak voice, “I’ve been studying for eighteen years so that I can inherit my father’s will and become a clerk who can remember things.” “Oh?” Li Changshou frowned slightly. Could it be that there was a mistake?
I really have to take care of this.
Li Changshou gestured for the Golden Roc to fly slower. He said seriously, “Then why did you cause so many negative karma?”
“Ah…”
The scholar let out a long sigh and was filled with the desire to confide. He smiled bitterly and said, “Do you want to hear the truth in detail, or do you want to hear the rough truth, or do you want to hear the lies I made up?”
This style of speaking is interesting.
Li Changshou smiled and said, “Then I’ll just tell the truth roughly.”
“You’re speaking too slowly.”
“Oh?” Li Changshou frowned and said, “Why are you speaking too slowly and causing negative karma?”
The scholar smiled bitterly. “I’m born to do things slowly and steadily. Moreover, when a few matters are placed in front of me, I often feel at a loss and don’t know how to choose. The first negative karma should be a fire in the neighbor’s house. I was the first to rush over. There were cries for help in the wing and main house. I was instantly confused. I did not know if I should save the main house or the wing first. Should I save the old man or the children first…”
Li Changshou was puzzled. “Then why are there negative karma?”
“I must have been hesitating and forgot to call for help.”
Li Changshou was speechless.
The scholar sighed and said, “The second negative karma was because the neighbor’s fire burned a street of ours in the end. I was chased out of the town and lost my home. I met an injured soldier. He was shot several times, and one arrow pierced his shoulder. He asked me to return to the city to report to the Lord, but he fainted before he could explain clearly. Should I report this to the City Lord, the General, or the Garrison Guard… Later, when I made my choice, the city was destroyed.”
Li Changshou was rendered speechless.
“The third negative karma is because I hate myself for being useless. I wanted to go to the mountains to escape the world and spend the rest of my life there. However, I was unlucky and was captured by a nest of female ghosts. They made me choose who would absorb my Yang energy first. I wondered if I should choose Little White, Little Qian, or Lan. In the end, they seemed to be very angry. They went to kill the innocent that night. I took the opportunity to escape. Now that we’re in the Netherworld, we can think about our lives. That time… was quite regretful.”
“I roughly understand.” Li Changshou sighed and placed the other five souls into the sea of blood. As he observed, he listened to the scholar describe his tragic life.
Soon, the method that Truth Listener provided was effective.
The five souls and five negative karma were indeed floating in the same direction!
As the scholar explained, Li Changshou began to “increase the sample size”. He increased the number of souls he had thrown into the sea to 30. He observed the direction in which they were attracted and drew an arrow on the “map” of the sea of blood in his heart. After drawing the arrow, Li Changshou immediately retracted the souls and sat on the back of the Golden-Winged Roc. He turned to the next area.
As usual, he drew a second arrow.
The two straight lines drawn by the two arrows were the source of the “suction”!
However, how could Li Changshou make such a conclusion?
With the Golden Roc’s speed, Li Changshou began to shuttle back and forth in the sea of blood. He rushed in all directions and kept placing negative karma souls and observing the direction where negative karma gathered and floated. He tried his best to eliminate all interference factors.
In the end, after the 99 arrows were drawn, a narrow area was confirmed. Li Changshou sensed a mysterious Dao rune from afar…
The scholar’s soul sighed softly and finished narrating his short life.
“Immortal.” The scholar could not help but ask, “Are you going to let me go or send me back to hell? Or…”
Crack!
A finger tapped the scholar’s forehead and transformed him back to the size of a thumb, sealing him back into the Dharma artifact.
What a naggy man.
Li Changshou said, “Golden Roc, hide your aura and hide here. If anyone enters a 50-kilometer radius, remember his aura. There’s no need to stop him.”
“Yes! Teacher, don’t worry!” Li Changshou nodded slowly and closed his eyes to rest on the Golden Roc’s back.
The situation in the Reincarnation Pagoda was already tense. The two sects were about to roll up their sleeves and start sparring. They had to rush over to transfer the conflict and export the Western Sect…
Ahem, I have to uphold justice for the Dao Sect.

The Cyclical Nature of Time
A girl’s life ends unexpectedly early, or so it would seem. Instead of eternal nothingness, she wakes up in an empty valley with no clue how she got there. Taking her predicament in stride, she sets out to do something about it. Unfortunately for her, the first couple of people she meets aren’t much help. They claim they haven’t heard of electricity and dress as if they were on a break from their job at a Viking-themed amusement park. MC is a somewhat normal girl. She's pragmatic and not very angsty. The story is tagged with anti-hero, but to be clear, she is not a villain. She does good if she can, she just isn't morally motivated to do so. The story starts out smelling of fantasy but will eventually shift towards sci-fi. It contains some supernatural elements and has a strong lead, but it is not your usual power trip. Expect a story that takes its time, but not to the point where entire chapters are spent on mindless chit-chat. I’m not into that. This is my first serious attempt at writing and I've learnt a lot writing this. Unfortunately, that shows. Chapter 1-10 is slow and rather pointless. Things get better, but it is not until chapter 25 or so that I began understanding how to structure chapters and to make them support the larger story. I publish about 3000 words a week (every sunday) but I write about 10000 words a week. Sticking to that pace, which is easy, the last chapter will be out by July.
