Chapter 317 What Spiritual Beast? What Spiritual Beast Do You Want?
“Master, you must be joking. Our melons are planted in the soil. Are they ripe? If they are not, can I sell them?”
The great demon, who was disguised as a melon seller, reacted rather quickly. He rolled his eyes and nodded and bowed.
“In other words, your melon is definitely ripe?”
Li Changshou sneered and gently tossed the melon in his hand.
“If this melon is not ripe, what will you do?” “This, this… Lord… I’m a melon vendor who knows my place. I can’t possibly sell an unripe melon to you!” A cold sweat broke out on the demon melon seller’s forehead as his limbs trembled.
The great demon did not know why he was so afraid of a Magihuman. They had come this time to destroy the Magihuman Divine Envoys of the Sea God Sect…
However, now, it was just a matter regarding melons. After just hearing a few questions from the other party, the great demon almost slipped into a trance as if he had been struck by some curse! The demon melon vendor asked softly, “Sir, can I… not sell this melon?”
“Huh? Not selling? Are you implying that I’m being a tyrant and bullying you?”
Li Changshou’s “bear” paper effigy widened his eyes. His left hand was as fast as an illusion. He grabbed the collar of the demon melon vendor and lifted him up forcefully.
The demon melon vendor’s reaction was slower by half a beat. By the time he wanted to dodge, his vision was already blurred. His demonic powers had completely lost their senses!
Demon Soul Seal!
Li Changshou released the other party’s collar with his left hand and pushed his palm out.
He did not seem to use too much force when striking with his palm this time. He pressed it on the melon vendor’s chest, but a faint green wave appeared on it. A black shadow emerged from the back of the melon vendor and was smashed onto the pile of melons.
The melon seller’s body immediately withered. His aura was gone, and his soul was gone too. He was already an ice-cold corpse.
The black shadow was currently restrained by Li Changshou’s immortal power. It revealed its true form on the melon pile. It was a demonic beast that looked like a badger…
“Demon? Take him down!”
Li Changshou shouted loudly. The Divine Envoys behind him immediately rushed forward. A few arms that were thicker than an ordinary person’s thigh reached out and grabbed. They almost tore the great demon apart! Over the years, perhaps because they had been overly nourished, the divine power of the Divine Envoys of Xiong Village had more or less improved. Of course, their strength was way inferior to Little Lingli, who had been beaten by her father in the middle of the night.
At that moment, the demon that had transformed into its original form and had its demonic soul sealed suddenly understood something!
The matter regarding the ripeness of the melon seemed like a simple “mortal farmer problem” or a complicated “peddler’s credibility problem”. It could also be a philosophical question, or it could be a secret signal that was exclusive to the locals… No matter what, he had been tricked!
He had been distracted by the other party and did not have any chance to retaliate!
Humans are so cunning!
Li Changshou flicked his finger again, and the great demon’s cultivation level was instantly crippled. The surrounding mortals reacted three beats slower and were already screaming.

However, something was amiss…
“The Sea God has appeared!” “Lord Divine Envoy has captured a demon!”
“Wow, such a huge demonic beast. After I roast it, I can have them for many meals!” Li Changshou’s lips twitched. Why are the mortals in Anshui City becoming more and more unreliable? This is a Heaven Immortal realm demon!
If there are not many human Qi Refinement cultivators who can fight, this great demon would be able to destroy a town in a moment!
Although doing that would cause the great demon to be plagued by negative karma and they would definitely be struck to death by the Heavenly Punishment…
Forget it.
How can I blame the devotees for reacting wrongly? I was the one who had protected them too much.
At that moment, the few demons that were hiding nearby and sneaking into the city had already taken advantage of the chaos to hide in various corners.
Li Changshou had already taken the initiative to attack. How could he let them off? Li Changshou immediately shouted, “Tell everyone not to learn the new teachings. Come out and search the city! Demons have entered the city. There must be other demons!”
A Divine Envoy at the side asked, “Lord! What should we do with this demonic Badger?”
“Roast it outside the city! Remember to add some scallions, ginger, and garlic!”
The other demons could not help but shiver when they heard that.
A great demon could not hold it in any longer. It tore apart its shell and revealed its true form. It let out a shrill cry in the air and spread its wings to fly out of the city!
A single stone caused a thousand ripples!
The door of the Sea God Temple was pushed open. Hundreds of strong Divine Envoys of the Sea God Sect were carrying hammers, broadswords, and clappers. They were shouting loudly at various places. He shouted for the mortals to squat down and quickly return home.
They told them not to let the demons run away and that the silver eagle would definitely be nourishing!
The remaining three demons panicked. In particular, there were dozens of murderous auras that could not be hidden, among the Divine Envoys of the Sea God Sect. Those auras were very strange. They were like the natural enemies of the demons, making the demons’ hearts tremble!
“Let’s go!” The few demons tore their leather pouches and transformed into their true forms. They fled the city frantically. The small area of Anshui City was in chaos. A few demons were fleeing in a hurry. Hundreds of the strongest Divine Envoys of the Sea God Sect were chasing after them with all kinds of weapons. All of them were running as fast as the wind.
In order not to kill the mortals, the men from Xiong Village and the women even jumped onto the roofs and sped away.
The mortals in the city… were a little excited.
They spread the news and called their friends. They miraculously overcame the fear that stemmed from their instincts. Under Li Changshou’s gaze, which was filled with helplessness, they followed the Divine Envoys on the roof and laughed and fooled around.
This…
It seemed that he had to create a large-scale education for safety knowledge within the Sea God Sect!
A moment later, hundreds of Divine Envoys rushed out of Anshui City.
The few demons received orders and flew at a steady pace. They baited the Divine Envoys of the Sea God Sect and headed towards a dense forest outside the city.

There was naturally a trap laid by the demons in front of them. However, with the Sea God’s constant voice transmission, those Divine Envoys were not afraid at all!
Dozens of pure-blooded Magi who were closer to the Connate Dao Body sneaked to the front and used the chaotic aura of the Magihumans to conceal their presence. A demonic aura filled the forest.
Outside the city, the Magihumans were ferocious.
Li Changshou calmly followed the plan. There were already a few paper effigies hidden under the forest.
He would add a little bit of incapacitating agents and a little loneliness.
The executioners from the Western Sect had formed a simple encirclement in the forest. A few of the strongest demons were hiding at the back and had already discussed the opportunity to attack.
They wanted to wait for the Divine Envoys of the Sea God Sect to rush into the middle of the ambush. Then, they would surround them from all directions and attack at the same time. They wanted to resolve the battle as soon as possible and retreat after succeeding. Then, they would go back and receive their rewards. Seeing how naive the Magihumans were and how they only knew how to charge, the demons could not help but look down on them. The Magi were simple-minded!
However, the demons were soon stunned…
The change happened too quickly and caught the demons off guard!
As soon as the hundreds of Divine Envoys of the Sea God Sect rushed into the forest and arrived at the periphery of the demons’ encirclement, a Black Bear Spirit suddenly emerged from behind a tree. It turned its head and roared, “I understand! I’ll charge at the front!”
After saying that, he ran wildly and charged towards the hundreds of Divine Envoys! A few thousand feet away, a white-robed demon jumped out from the treetop and shouted, “Kill!”
The demons lying in ambush immediately rushed out and chased after the Black Bear Spirit!
When they saw their companions rush out, most of the demons did not have time to make any judgment. They immediately appeared and formed an army of more than 300 demons! They either flew into the sky or burrowed into the ground, or sped off to fight the Divine Envoys of the Sea God Sect! The other half of the demons either sensed that something was amiss and wanted to retreat, or sleeping soundly and were completely unconscious. The encirclement that the demons had set up previously had been resolved for no reason. The demon commanders were so anxious that they stomped their feet and cursed… Li Changshou, who had just arrived outside the forest, chuckled when he saw that.
The disorderly mob that was temporarily put together was indeed full of loopholes.
The black bear spirit and the white-robed male demon had only secretly extracted demonic aura from the “demonic badger” and engulfed the two paper effigies. They had used escape techniques to sneak into the enemy’s encirclement…
It was a basic trick.
Paper effigies flew out of Li Changshou’s sleeve. They hugged the array foundation and used escape techniques to circle around.
Li Changshou’s Golden Immortal realm paper effigy, did not participate in the battle. He continued to monitor his surroundings and did not dare to relax.
The soldiers in front were about to clash.
The dozens of Divine Envoys of the Sea God Sect at the front jumped to the left and right at the same time!
The Magi, Ox-head and Horse-face, who were unidentifiable after taking off their hoods, suddenly sped up. Their bodies were as fast as phantoms, and huge pits were blasted into the ground. The aura of a true Magus erupted!
Forty-eight streams of blood auras soared into the sky like smoke. The afterglow of the setting sun was dyed red!
The demons were shocked and panicked! At that moment, pillars of light rose from various parts of the forest. The pillars of light gathered at the center and instantly formed a huge array formation that sealed a radius of dozens of kilometers!
At the base of the twelve array formations, three paper effigies with the strength of late-stage Heaven Immortals sat cross-legged. They were prepared to inject their immortal powers into the array foundations and enhance the array formation at any time to ensure that they would not let a single demon escape! In Anshui City, there were hundreds of Magihumans from Xiong Village running around, searching for any demons that had been left out…
Under the setting sun, rivers of blood flowed in the dense forest. The great demons were torn apart by the Battle Magi with their bare hands, and all kinds of corpses could be seen everywhere. The dozens of Battle Magi who were fighting while bathed in blood revealed ferocious looks. The blood in their bodies became thicker, and they regained the glory of the ancient battle! Even the Divine Envoys of Xiong Village, who had half of the witch race’s bloodline flowing in them, turned pale. They hid in the corners and formed a defensive battle formation… They shivered and did not know what to do.
An hour later…
The forty-eight Magi each carried two to three demonic beast corpses that tasted good in their memories. Under the escort of the Divine Envoys of Xiong Village, they went to a beach by the sea. They took a bath and skillfully set up a roasting rack. The aroma of meat filled the air within a 50-kilometer radius…
Ox-head and Horse-face put on their masks and sat in the corner of the beach, watching the people of their race sing and dance.
The sea breeze blew at her soft mane, and she said solemnly, “Ox, do you remember? In those years, we chased after the demonic beasts and ran happily under the sunset.”
“Ah, Horse!”
Ox-head sighed deeply. “Such days have finally returned.”
“How did happiness disappear? Neigh-“
“Compared to that, I want to know more about the benefits of these demons joining a sect. Moo~”
He heard a voice behind him.
“Most of them were forced by a sect.”
Hearing that familiar voice, Ox-head’s face trembled and he immediately stood up. Li Changshou squeezed out from the trunk of a tree not far away. He bowed to Ox-head and Horse-face and said, “Thank you for coming to help.”
“Sea God, you’re too polite.” Ox-head rubbed his hands and chuckled. “How can this be considered… Ahem, well, forget about the thank-you gift. Previously, my young friend Changshou from the Immortal Du Sect said that you will also have seasonings…”
Horse-face could not help but roll his eyes. “Your skin is getting thicker and thicker. Awesome!”
“What? What spiritual beast? What spiritual beast?!”
Ox-head widened his eyes. “Horse-face, how can you not know how to act appropriately!?! Nonsense! We are here to help today. No matter how distant those Magihumans are from us, they are still part of the Magi! Horse-face, how can you do that!?! Do you still have a conscience? Do you still want the pink spiritual beast that our little friend Changshou of the Immortal Du Sect raised?!” Horse-face was at a loss for words. He was about to faint from anger. “Don’t be anxious, don’t be anxious.”
Li Changshou smiled and took out two treasure pouches. He gave them a few jars of seasoning and said, “To be honest, I’ve already sent someone to the Immortal Du Sect and the various towns to purchase a batch of spiritual beasts. Please stay here with your fellow Magi for a few more days. The spiritual beasts would arrive one after another. Let’s see if the other party has any follow-up attacks.”
Ox-head shook his head and smiled. “Then, let’s respect the Sea God’s orders! Hehe… Oh, no, Moo ~”
“Get lost! The reputation of the Netherworld has been destroyed by you!” Horse-face could not help but curse. He raised his long legs and kicked Ox-head. Ox-head laughed and jumped to the side. The two Soul-Reaping Envoys quickly fought. In an instant, their headgear and shoes flew everywhere, and the starry night sky was the same color as the seawater.
Li Changshou was also amused and left a hearty laugh on the beach.
Li Changshou chatted with Ox-head and Horse-face for a while. A Battle Magihuman brought over a large piece of excellent roasted meat. Ox-head and Horse-face were not stingy. They distributed about… 0.1% of the spices and seasonings to the Magihumans.
The fragrance of spices quickly exploded on the beach, causing many of the Magi to scream. Ox-head picked a piece of the most delicious roasted meat and sent it over. However, Li Changshou shook his head awkwardly and refused.
He had no choice. He had some obstacles in his heart.
He ate until the moon appeared in the middle of the sky. Li Changshou called over a hundred Divine Envoys who were waiting in the distance and carried the Battle Magi who had eaten until they could no longer move back to the Sea God Temple…
Li Changshou predicted that the Western Sect would not make any moves next. After all, the Western Sect had already revealed their motive for taking action and had lost a small portion of their combat power. When risk and reward were completely incompatible, anyone who was rational would not continue…
However, Li Changshou was still confident. He maintained the surveillance network that was thousands of kilometers away from the Sea God Temple. He did not relax at all. Half of his attention was focused on the Sea God Sect, while the other half was focused on investigating the waterways of the South Continent. Naturally, some of his attention was still focused on the Little Qiong Peak.
He could not be careless since that was where his roots were.
For the next two months, the Magi ate and drank continuously in Anshui City. They had tasted all kinds of delicacies in the human world. Perhaps because they felt that it was a little embarrassing to eat and drink for free, the Magi found something for themselves to dothey started to train the Magihuman Divine Envoys. After a few days of training, the Divine Envoys could not get out of bed or walk. All of them cried and screamed, as if they had not used their muscles properly. Li Changshou did not care much about that. It would be beneficial to increase the combat power of the Divine Envoys. After careful consideration, Li Changshou specially brought Long Ji to Anshui City and let Long Ji “discover” the existence of the Magi and Magihumans by chance. In secret, Li Changshou handed thirty immortal peaches to the paper effigy and secretly brought them back to the Immortal Du Sect. Li Changshou had to think about how he could make everyone eat the peaches happily. There were three main solutions…
A, pretend that those were ordinary immortal peaches. B, tell Sect Leader Ji Wuyou about it then claim that they had been bestowed by the Sect Leader.
C, knock out Master and Junior Sister one by one and feed peaches to them. To be safe, Li Changshou decided to go ahead with the fourth plan. He decided to brew a portion of the immortal peaches into wine and claim that he had unintentionally created an immortal wine that could not be brewed again. He would then give it to his Aunt-Master, Uncle-Master, and Grandmaster to taste.
He could naturally tell his junior sister and master the truth and let them enjoy a complete immortal peach each.
“Is this immortal peach useful to Elder Wan Linyun?”
It just so happened that he had refined a few comprehension-type Spirit Pills previously. This time, he sent them to the elder as well.
A Great Poisonous Immortal who’s in the Golden Immortal realm…
Tsk, just thinking about it excites me.

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.

Hy'Ruh-Ha is a what I consider a chronicle fantasy. It is a fantasy drama coming of age story inspired by slice-of-life stories I've read and watched. It is heavy on the slice-of-life and does move slow. It is low-stakes fantasy. This particular story is romance free.(2 out the of 4 is re-uploaded under this title) And if you are someone who cares, the POV character is asexual. Crossroad(formally labeled as the intermission stories)- is a novella collection continuing the tale where Hy'ruh-Ha.
