The Numbers That Brought Our Fates Together Chapter 341

Chapter 341
Amelia looked over her shoulder into the mirror and grinned contentedly . She turned around for a while, and with a feeling of complete satisfaction went to the window . She visited several shops in the nearby town before choosing this dress .
The dress of the light blue colour, to match the shade of the eyes of one stubborn man . The dress was embroidered with golden maple leaves flowing along the airy chiffon skirt, the edges of which rise up temptingly at every touch of the spring breeze . A thin belt – golden intertwined rope with fluffy tassels at the ends, emphasizing the slender waist, and сream colour pumps . Open shoulders and a light straw hat with a neat bow completed her look, perfectly matching the dress .
Amelia smiled at her reflection in the glass and opened the window .
The bright rays of the warm April sun slid down her cheeks, kissing the girl and wishing her a pleasant morning . Amelia took a deep breath, sat down on the windowsill and looked down .
In a spacious area in front of the building, two young men stood opposite each other like two animals preparing to attack . Eye to eye, their movements were slow and smooth, each was focused on his opponent . A dash, a swing – and one of them was already on the ground, writhing in pain and pressed down by the knee of the other .
“Enough! I give up!”
“Ahaha, are you sure you had enough sand for breakfast, eh Simon?” Marcus laughed, slapped the guy on the back, got up and held out his hand .
Simon spat dirt out of his mouth, gritted his teeth, feeling grains of sand on his lips and tongue, grimaced, and with a drooping look took Marcus’s hand, “Master, this is not fair . You used teleportation, I will never beat you in my life . “
“Not fair? Boy, have you forgotten who your opponent is?” the man showed his snow-white smile . The same white, ironed shirt without a trace of dust or wrinkles was a special mockery for Simon’s appearance, who not only had his clothes but his hair and face in the same colour with the ground beneath his feet . If he lay down on the road now and closed his eyes, he would merge with it like a chameleon and would resemble a rugged stone and not a man .
“I am always honest in my dishonesty,” Marcus laughed loudly, touched by Simon’s drooping look . The man knew that in less than a couple of days the guy would challenge him again, and would again lie on the ground . But Marcus was pleased, for his age of eighteen, Simon’s reactions and skills were at a high level, and in the next ten years, Marcus will be able to raise from this guy a strong and confident man, an opponent with whom few will be willing to argue .

Amelia was sitting on the third-floor windowsill and smiling, Marcus’s laugh awakened a wave of warmth in her chest and enveloped her body like a soft blanket . The man, sensing her gaze, turned and looked up . The girl waved her hand in embarrassment and flirtily straightened a lock of hair, throwing it over her back and exposing her shoulder .
The man’s reaction was fleeting, but Amelia had time to feel it . An hour in front of the mirror wasn’t spent in vain, she grinned to herself .
“Tsk, running away again . What a stubborn man . ” The girl watched the retreating figure of Marcus, who hastened to disappear from her field of vision . “You won’t get away from me, Mr . Taubert . ”
She stretched forward to check whether he had really left the site or just hidden from the girl’s persistent gaze . A gust of wind ran through her hair, caught on the bow and tore off her hat . Amelia reflexively threw her hand forward to catch the hat, but the other hand slipped off the smooth surface of the window sill, and the girl screamed, falling out .
“Decided to practice flying early in the morning, huh, Amelia? But you know, it’s better to climb higher and grab a parachute, don’t you think so?”
The girl opened one eye, then the other one, looked around . A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she realized that the man had caught her before her romantic image, which she had spent a lot of time on, crashed into the solid reality of the ground . Marcus lifted Amelia to her feet and gave her a reproachful look, “It was extremely careless of you . What are you, an ignorant child to fall out of the window?!”
Amelia lowered her head and obediently listened as the man chastised her for inattention . A couple of minutes later, Marcus relented, remembering how scared she was in the first seconds, but he knew exactly who was more scared in this situation . Silly girl! If he could, he would have turned gray several times and become bald because of her!
“Okay, did you have breakfast?” he exhaled the question and ran his hand over his head, neatly styled blonde hair was divided into several strands . Amelia nodded . Marcus looked at the girl from the bottom up and smiled, “Then I guess we can go . “
“I say, I’m driving!”
“No . “
“You promised! I have a plane in the evening! Won’t you allow me to give you a ride at least once?!”

The man frowned, trying not to look into Amelia’s puppy eyes, which did not match the girl’s murderous facial expressions, which almost screamed to tell him that if he did not agree, he would greatly regret it .
Marcus rolled his eyes and with a wrinkled forehead as if he was forced to eat a dozen lemons, he handed Amelia the car keys, “Just be careful . “
“Yay, thanks!” the girl jumped up, kissed the man on the cheek and quickly ran to the garage where a brand new Mercedes of the latest model, which Marcus bought a few days ago, was waiting for her .
Turning the corner, she took a step, a bunch of keys was spinning on her finger, Amelia whistled an unpretentious melody, and a sly smile shone on her face, her eyes narrowed mysteriously, but not from the sun, but from the thoughts in the girl’s head, which the man had not a single clue about .
He let her go . Six months ago, he told her to leave, and the next day he disappeared himself as if he did not want to see her . Amelia remembered Simon’s confused face when the two of them stood at the airport, and the guy could not explain where his master had gone, who did not even bother to say goodbye to his guest, whom he himself had kidnapped earlier .
Amelia defiantly tore up her boarding pass and forced Simon to drive her back . After three hours of trying to find out where Marcus was, they phoned him, but the man replied that he left on urgent business and he would not be at the base for the next two months .
He ran away, she thought . But the girl could not stay there without a reason, so she voiced the first thing that came into her voice . She demanded from Marcus to teach her how to drive, since her father did not have time to do this . After a little thought, the man agreed to her request but entrusted this matter to his assistant .
Marcus said he would be away for two months, but he returned a month later . Amelia chuckled, remembering the surprised face of the man when he went into his bedroom at night after the long way and found that the room was captured by one insolent guest . So what? He left her here himself, so let him bear with consequences .
But the girl did not take into account one thing . When Marcus said that he would not do anything with her, he followed his words with the characteristic pedantry of a German . After that evening, he never touched her, did not make a single attempt to get closer . He did not succumb to her female provocations and repeated with a calm tone that if he could not influence his future, then he could influence the future of others, simply by giving up what was destined .
He tolerated her presence for six months, but a week ago he delivered her an ultimatum – either she returns to Polina, or he will go where even the keen eyes of a clairvoyant with a stubborn character cannot reach him . Although which one of them is more stubborn, Amelia could argue .
And tonight, a plane was waiting for her again, and the maximum that she bargained from this harmful blonde as a sign of a farewell gift was a walk with him to the neighboring town, where the spring festival had just begun .
She bought a beautiful dress, styled her hair, even did a little makeup!
Amelia clicked the car door and got into the driver’s seat, the interior smelled of leather, and there was also some slight odor that comes with new things, be it a car or a book, which crunches its cover when you open it for the first time .
The girl ran her hand over the smooth surface of the steering wheel, stroked the dashboard, looked in the rearview mirror . She put the key in the ignition, turned it . The motor growled like a tame tiger, wildly but affectionately . Amelia smiled as she saw the man approaching the car . In one hand he was holding a woman’s hat, with the other one he was putting on sunglasses, hiding his sapphire eyes from her penetrating gaze .
The girl did not notice how she purred in tune with the thunderous beast under the black lacquered hood, waiting to break into pursuit .
“Run away, Mr . Taubert, if you like this game . But today I will definitely catch you,” Amelia whispered and fastened her seat belt .

A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes
