The Numbers That Brought Our Fates Together Chapter 289: To Stop All This.
The young man gripped the steering wheel tightly and pressed the gas pedal, the car accelerated its course, gaining speed every second. A fascinating landscape flickered outside the window, but Nick was not interested in admiring the beauties of nature.
"I see you've become much better at driving," Lina smiled, Nick's skills progressed pretty quickly. She wanted to at least slightly relieve tension, as she noticed his frown look as soon as Nick returned to his consciousness.
"Yes, after several times, it wasn't much harder than I used to before," the young man adjusted his sunglasses and looked in the rearview mirror. Corey sat in the back seat and was lost in thought.
He would have preferred to leave them both at the hotel and figure out the current situation himself, but there was no point in arguing with these ladies.
Lina wouldn't let him go anyway, and Corey's hands were itching to scold one little lady, whose tiny nose loved to create trouble.
"How much time will it take to get there?" Corey asked, she did not ask how Nick found out which route Elena and the others had taken when they left. The woman decided to postpone her curiosity until later, after she was convinced of the safety of the children.
"Hmmm, I think about half an hour," Nick masterfully maneuvered between passing cars, as if he were a born Formula 1 racer.
"Are you okay? It seems to me that something is bothering you," Lina put a hand on the shoulder of a young man, she knew about his physical condition, so even a small piece of her energy could help relieve tension in his body. Despite the fact that it was only a drop in the ocean from the amount that he needed.

And although the woman knew why Nick came here and what outcome was expecting him, she could not accept that in two or three weeks she would no longer be able to see his radiant smile and playful gaze.
Nick gently patted the girl's palm, he himself got used to her during this time, albeit for a short time, and the young man was pleased with such care from Lina, "Never mind. It's better to be careful because I don't know what awaits us there." He tried to behave as usual, but inside of him was a growing sense of anxiety.
From the very beginning, Nick was worried by the fact that he was not sure about the details of current events. He knew the general course of things that was about to happen, but exactly how it was supposed to happen, he did not know.
Moreover, after connecting to Sean's mind, the young man noticed a strange thing. Sean's mind was in his submission all the time, but Nick felt that he was not alone. For a few seconds, it seemed to him that at that moment someone or something was watching him as if in the consciousness of a boy there was another creature that hid its essence.
And the fact that Nick had so many white spots in his memory only worried him even more. His main goal was Marcus, but Sean's condition evoked feelings in him that Nick could not even formulate for himself. As if he was missing some important puzzle that could change the perception of the whole picture in an instant.
The more they drove forward, the fewer and fewer cars they saw on the road until they were the only ones who were driving in this direction. Ahead, about two hundred meters from his car, Nick saw several massive SUVs and a group of people in uniforms.

Well, Daniel's memories did not fail him. They were driving in the right direction. Now it was necessary to deal with this small obstacle, and then the path would be clear.
Nick stopped the car across from one of the military and lowered the side window, "Good afternoon, sir. We need to drive forward, could you let us in?"
"This territory is under surveillance by order of the highest authorities. Turn the car around and drive onto the adjacent highway, to avoid this one." The officer gave the impression of a principled person who was not interested in continuing the conversation.
Nick smiled, took off his glasses and looked into the man's eyes, "Sir, look into my eyes and listen to me very carefully," he paused and then continued in a calm, low voice, "Your superiors asked me to tell you that the operation is over and you can return to your base. I will count to three, you will let our car go forward, and you will get your crew and leave this place. Nod if you understand me."
The military man's face did not express any emotion, the officer's gaze was directed to the void, the man nodded his head, stepped back from the car, raised his hand up and shouted to one of his colleagues, "Let him through!"
Others executed the order without further ado, Nick pressed the gas pedal, and their car moved on without any problems.
"W-what was that?" Corey looked in surprise at the military, who began hastily collecting their things, the look of that officer seemed familiar to her, as if… "Hey, did you just use hypnosis?! I saw a couple of times how Daniel did it, and his clients had about the same look! You know how to do it too?!"
"Well, sort of," Nick joked. In fact, his hypnosis skill was equal to Daniel's skill in its power, but the young man rarely used it, as it required deep contact with the object, and he was not sure that he could do it without harm to another person.
Therefore, Nick used hypnosis only in extreme situations, like this one. Well, and also when he made a deal with the hotel manager regarding the car rental. If it weren't for hypnosis, it would be unlikely that anyone would have agreed to give the car to a person who never had a driving license. Well, even his passport was a fake one.
Corey's eyebrows raised in surprise, hmmm, the men in this Anderson family were truly amazing. Her eyes crossed for a moment with Nick's in the rearview mirror, and the woman's heart froze. The pupils of his eyes, from sky blue, turned to charcoal black.
Nick blinked, then hid his eyes behind his sunglasses and turned his gaze to the road.
Not only Ashley was very curious in their family. The curiosity of this woman was no less than that of her baby. And if the question of how Nick found out where to go, Corey decided to postpone for later, she voiced a new question in her head right away,
"Who are you? Is Nick Anderson your real name?"
The young man turned off the main road into a narrow gauge leading into the depths of the jungle. Ahead, two white SUVs parked in front of them appeared. Those on which Elena and the rest came here.
After a short pause, Nick answered in a calm voice, "I am the one who has come to stop all this."

BladeMage
Arenya Azural, a dragon-blooded farmer from a small town in the middle of nowhere, always dreamed of being a great hero, battling demons and monsters as a force of magic and power. Now her dream has a chance to become reality - she's a new student at Ba'al Cedric's Academy of Adventurers, a university for warrriors and heroes to learn to battle against the surprisingly amicable demon armies of the neighboring country in an endless war nobody really remembers the point of by now. She's also a BladeMage - an exceedingly rare and exceedingly difficult dual class that few have ever managed to succeed in, but those who have gain immense power. Arenya has a long road ahead of her, with rival students, duels with demons, and a host of benchmarks she must pass in order to keep her scholarship. Will she make it to level 100 and beyond, or die too many times and be forced to return home, tail (literally) between her legs to a life of farming and dreaming of adventure? BladeMage is a LitRPG with a lighter focus on stats. It features battles, leveling up, giant monsters, a bit of fanservice, and more. [Update: The LitRPG elements are proving themselves relatively unimportant as I continue to write. They may be dropped entirely, in which case I will change the prior chapters as well as update this description.] Content warnings: As a story featuring lots of fighting, there will be blood and death. However, since characters rarely die permanently, this will not be a hyperviolent story with extreme gore for the sake of it. Some sexual content and fanservice may be included, but this should remain firmly at the PG-13 level and there will be no sexual violence of any kind. The Cover: Someone suggested that I should have a dragon girl with a miniskirt on the cover. I can't draw and I don't know who to ask or commission, so a few minutes in the GNU Image Manipulation Program and the masterful cover above was created! Please feel free to use your imagination to see a gorgeous half-dragon with azure hair, wings, and a tail, holding a lightning-infused sword while fighting demons.
