The Numbers That Brought Our Fates Together Chapter 196: Someday I'll Tell You.
An hour earlier.
Rick watched Marcus go and waited for the moment when he shuts the door behind him. His whole body was constrained by spasms, he knew that his consciousness would not withstand such stress and was about to black out.
And he could not allow this, because the next time he remembers himself, might not even come.
The man gathered his remaining strength and, overcoming the pain, crawled across the floor to his table, which was next to his bed. In normal condition, it would be enough for him to take just three steps, but in the current situation, it took him almost fifteen minutes to cope with this task.
Time was inexorably slipping through his fingers like sand, he did not know when Marcus would return or when he would lose consciousness, he had to act as quickly as possible.
Grabbing the handle of one of the drawers with his hand, he opened it and groped for a box of medicine. During the missions, he had to carry out various tasks, and in his set, there were always various medicaments, ranging from instant sleeping pills to painkillers and hemostatic agents.
Marcus's men were more than well equipped with the latest developments in the black market pharmaceutical industry. In the end, a significant share of this market was dominated by Marcus himself, known in narrow circles under the name of Master.
Rick often wondered why he had hidden these medicines inside the table and left a note for himself, about the time of writing of which he did not remember anything at all. And only now it became clear to him that this was the only thing that he managed to do after the last awakening of his memory.
At that time, he hoped that if he had the opportunity to remember everything again, he would do everything necessary to preserve his memory.
The man took out a syringe with anesthetic and stuck it in his leg, one dose was enough to block all pain receptors, but in the case of a chip in his body, he needed three such doses. He took two more syringes and repeated the procedure.
To his luck, the pain began to recede gradually, and from sharp spasms, it turned into an aching form, as after intensive training, but this was nothing compared to its initial intensity.
He closed his eyes and exhaled, the first stage was completed. Rick had no idea how much this effect would last, but at least his mind was still active and his memory was with him.
The man tried to get up, it didn't happen right away, but on the fifth attempt he managed to do it, and he decided to clean up as quickly as possible. The German pedantry and neatness to the marrow of the bones were in him, regardless of whether he remembered himself or not.
The man took a shower, changed into work clothes, which were nothing more than black trousers, a hoodie and the boots which were also of the black color. He still did not understand the reason why Marcus was so fascinated by the black color, but he did not plan to show his preferences.

The door creaked behind him, although he was standing with his back to the entrance, he knew very well who the guest that had appeared on the threshold of his room was.
Marcus was the only one who allowed himself to go to him.
Rick squared his shoulders, his face became calm and indifferent, he turned, bowed and answered in an even tone, "Master."
Marcus scanned Rick from head to toe, picked up a box of chips from the table and handed it to his servant, "Your task for the evening is to embed these two chips. Objects – Corey and Ashley Williams. Simon will give you the address. When you are done, return to the base."
Rick took a box from Marcus's hands, not a muscle twitched on the man's face when mentioning the names of his beloved woman and daughter.
Taubert carefully watched his every move, Rick took out two envelopes with chips, put them in his pocket and bowed,
"It will be done, Master," and vanished into thin air.
. . .
The man followed the instructions sent to him by one of Marcus's assistants and moved to the address where the house of Elena and David was. The light on the windows on the second floor was turned off and only in a few windows on the first floor light was on, confirming that someone was at home.
Rick decided that it was wiser to enter the house through the second floor, as it was less likely that he would bump into someone there. He silently walked along the corridor along several bedrooms, on the door of one of which was a large pink unicorn, the rider of which was a pirate.
The man grinned, he didn't even have to guess who could be in this room. He touched the door handle with his hand to open it, as the harsh sound of a slamming door made him stop.
He turned and slowly headed toward the stairs to the first floor, the whole plan of the house was in his laptop computer, no doubt, Marcus's men were top specialists in obtaining information. And they also skillfully swept up traces of their presence.
As soon as the man reached the stairs, he regretted that he did it. 'Damn, are you kidding me?! The second time I get into such a situation!' He mentally growled to himself, to see the passionate hugs and kisses of Corey and Daniel did not give him the slightest pleasure.
He glanced at the number of syringes with sleeping pills in his kit.
An insidious thought to knock them both out, especially Daniel, to interrupt their intimate games, slipped into Rick's head, but he immediately dismissed it.
First of all, he needed to complete Marcus's task and as soon as possible, Rick did not want him to suspect something was amiss if the chips were not activated in the near future. To his luck, Daniel said goodbye to the girl and left the house. Now it was Rick's turn to act.

He quietly went down the stairs, watching Corey from behind. She was dialing some number from some paper on her phone. Her figure was so slender and delicate that the man wanted to come and grab her with his hands to protect her from the whole world, she seemed so fragile to him.
And how had he not noticed this before? He was always fascinated by her cheerfulness and spontaneity, but he never thought that at the same time she could be easily vulnerable and weak. How much pain did he make her go through?
He took out a ready-made pistol with sleeping pills from his pocket and fired a shot.
The girl winced in pain and held out her hand to the place on the neck where his injection hit.
For so many years of working for Marcus, Rick could shoot even with his eyes closed, and although he knew that it was only sleeping pills, and he did the best, the conscience inside the man began to gnaw at him even more because he dared to do such a thing with his beloved woman.
Corey sensed the presence of an outsider and turned around; fear, anger and resentment in her eyes. "No, don't come near me." The phone slipped out of the girl's hands and fell to the floor with a loud bang, she backed away, but Rick knew well that in ten seconds she would be unconscious.
The man quickly and confidently began to approach her, why the girl wanted to take a step to the side to increase the distance between them, but instead, her body swayed and she fell into his arms unconscious.
A wave of heat and joy swept over Rick when he felt the warmth of her body on him. Now he knew well what kind of feelings he had been taken over by all this time. The feelings that led him into confusion. If there was his will, he would stop time at this moment, just to enjoy the presence of Corey in his hands.
The man carried the girl into the living room and laid her carefully on the sofa. He knew very well that in the next two to three hours she would not wake up, but subconsciously he was still afraid to disturb her sleep.
The chip in his hands gleamed in the light of rainbow colors, he unpacked the wrapper and took out an object.
A feature of this model, like most of them, was the importance of activation of the chip by binding it to human DNA, and this meant that the human data was transferred to a central server in a general database.
Since Rick already had a chip, he could not use himself as an object, so in any case, he would have to use Corey and Ashley to cover his tracks.
He took a knife from his pocket, which looked like a small surgical scalpel, picked up Corey's palm and made a small puncture on her finger. "Sorry," the man whispered as drops of blood appeared on her finger.
He gently squeezed the girl's finger, blood dripped onto the chip in his palm, the object flashed and Rick felt how it began to heat up. The system in his mini-computer popped, confirming with this signal that the chip was activated.
"Phew," Rick gasped. The first stage was completed successfully, the second, perhaps the most dangerous, remained.
Activating the chip was just the beginning, it should have remained available in the system all the time, confirming that it is in the body of the holder. But stuffing this thing into Corey's body was unacceptable, so he hoped his absurd plan would work.
The man took a knife and made a small incision on his arm, just above his wrist. Then he took the chip from his palm and placed it in the resulting wound.
"Agh," he barely held back a scream as a burning pain pierced his arm as if he were tearing his limb alive from his body. Now he realized why one of the conditions for embedding the chip was the unconscious state of the recipient. This procedure was just hellishly painful.
He grabbed the sleeve with his teeth to restrain the roar that was about to burst out, it was even worse than the pain he had to undergo during his memory breaks. Drops of cold sweat flowed from his forehead, his breathing was choppy and heavy, he glanced at the computer monitor and smiled.
The chip light was still green, which means it was active. A sarcastic smirk slid across his face, "Well, Marcus, obviously, not everything is under your control." Rick was more than pleased with the result.
He brushed the sweat from his forehead and looked at Corey, the girl was sleeping deeply, not suspecting anything. The man held out his hand and stroked her cheek, his eyes were filled with tenderness and love, "So beautiful," he whispered and bent to her lips.
When his lips almost touched her mouth, he froze for a second, sighed, raised his head and kissed the girl on the forehead. "I love you, Corey Williams," he whispered in her ear, got up and headed for the second floor.
During all this time, he never once told her what he felt, looking into her eyes. When they were still together, he deceived himself and did not believe what he told her. But now, he hoped that someday, he would have the opportunity to sincerely confess his feelings to this woman.
