Corey watched the police cars in which her friends drove away. Elena followed David to the police to get a better knowing of the current situation. The fact that her husband was accused of killing Carter was beyond her understanding.

Elena asked Corey to contact Daniel, but his home phone was unanswered and his cell phone was turned off.

Corey closed the front door and looked toward the stairs leading to the second floor. Fortunately, the children did not notice all the turmoil that happened on the first floor and continued to sleep like two little angels.

The girl sat on the sofa and redialed the number. So many things happened in one evening that it seemed to her that she was stuck in some kind of stupid nightmare; it was so hard to believe that all that had happened was in reality.

The appearance of Rick, the arrest of David – these situations were too atypical for the normal course of events, and she realized that with a high degree of probability the man was involved in all of this, the man, whose trace her friends had been trying to find for several years.

Corey did not go into the details of this situation, she knew that that man was Armand's twin brother and knew that it was better not to cross their paths. Daniel told her that the less she knew the safer for her and Ashley it would be. But what should she do if it turns out that Rick is also involved in all this?

Otherwise, why didn't he reveal himself for so many years and why did he have obvious memory problems?

Daniel's phone still remained silent; she hung up, leaned back in the sofa, and closed her eyes. She could not remain silent about the meeting with Rick, this information was one that should not be hidden, but how could she tell about it, especially to Daniel?

The front door of the gate clicked, and the door phone display automatically showed that the guest had arrived. Corey got up from the couch and went to open the front door of the house, meeting Daniel.

"My honey, are you already here? Mmm, you can't even imagine how nice it is that you meet me on the doorstep of the house, even if the house is not ours," Daniel put Corey in his tight arms, breathing in the scent of her hair, leaving a light kiss on the crown of her head.

His appearance, as always, was elegant to the smallest detail of his outlook, a charming smile on his face, bright eyes and small dimples on his cheeks captivated from the first moment, as soon as the girl fell into his field of vision.

Corey's heart began to beat at a frantic speed, but this was not due to the stunning appearance of this man, but because how amazing the soul of this man was, of which only a few knew. And today she will hurt this wonderful man.

The girl clung to Daniel in fear that this would be the last chance when he hugs her like that, with all sincerity and joy. Although she did not have much experience in relationships, and in fact, apart from Rick and Daniel, she did not date anyone seriously, she knew how it feels when the person you love hurts you.

"Elena wrote to me that you and Ashley would be here in the evening, but then my phone discharged and I didn't take a charger with me, so I couldn't clarify whether you want something special or not. I bought your favorite sushi and a banana cake, but to be honest, it's much tastier when you cook it," Daniel looked around the living room and was surprised that the room was empty.

"Hey, where are the people? Just don't tell me that they decided to get together in the bedroom and left us?! Even such a fan of the Japanese cuisine like you won't be able to deal with such amount of food," Daniel looked at Corey with a teasing smile, and his joy immediately disappeared when he saw her tear-stained eyes.

He was so glad about everything that happened between them that he flew away in his fantasies like a little child, who finally received the candy that he had been dreaming of for a long time.

"Baby? What happened? Where are Elena and David?" The man began to worry, Corey was always very cheerful, but now she looked like a lost kitten caught in heavy rain – sad and lost.

"David… He was just taken by the police on murder charges. Elena went to the station with him."

"David was what?!" Of all the most absurd options that he could hear, even this one would not have crossed his mind.

Corey briefly explained the situation as far as she knew it, Daniel listened carefully to the girl, analyzing what actions he could take for his part.

The man stroked her cheek with tenderness and kissed her forehead, "To begin with, you should calm down, everything will be fine, you got it?" Corey nodded her head affirmatively, the man's tone was serious and confident, he gave the impression that he knew what he was talking about.

"Do you know what your boyfriend's education is?"

Corey raised her eyebrows in slight confusion, not quite understanding what he asked that question for, "Ummm … Biology?"

"Bi-biology? … Ahh, yes, exactly," the man laughed and scratched his head. He himself had already forgotten that his first degree was biology and chemistry, which was the decision of his father.

Although Daniel excelled in this field as a specialist, he took all the experiments more like a hobby, so he did not even remember about this option.

"You know, I still don't understand how you managed to get the Nobel Prize then, no matter which way you look at it, you obviously cheated," Corey shook her head, this man was too far from the image of an authoritative scientist, although on one of the bookshelves in his apartment she saw several books on some medical research.

He noticed that Corey was very upset about the current situation with his brother, and wanted to somehow relieve her tension. "So what will be your second option?"

The girl looked at Daniel and only now realized that she knew only one of his sides well – what kind of person he was in the family circle and among relatives. His professional sphere and how he behaved in business matters were a mystery to her.

"Hmmm, I told you that your brother is in the police station, and you decided to play a guessing game?" Corey asked him.

Daniel put his arms around the girl and hugged her, and then smacked her cute nose, "Believe me, ten or twenty minutes will not be a big deal and won't make a big difference, but going there and leaving you in this condition bothers me much more."

Corey buried her face in his chest, her conscience hanging over her like a sword of Damocles, making her feel almost the last nothingness on earth. She always had the peculiarity of sharply reacting and exaggerating the significance of certain events, and in the case of Daniel, her imagination was at the highest level. He did so much for her all this time, that the way she showed weakness in the situation with Rick, she herself took it almost like a betrayal.

"And what will be your second option?" Daniel asked again.

"As far as I know, your second education is psychology, right?" Corey suggested. She remembered that Daniel had once told her about this, but what she was thinking at that moment, she could not remember.

"Right, baby. Here you are right, otherwise, where can I see a lie so well or when a person is hiding something. Professional education only improves what was originally laid down by nature," the man's voice sounded more serious, Corey did not notice how he analyzed her facial expressions.

When she began to talk about David, the man already noticed that something was wrong, as if she was keeping something back from him.

"But that is not all. You probably don't know this, but I also have a law degree and I'm a key lawyer in resolving company issues that require a special approach," Daniel's tone became unusually serious, which made Corey tense. He had never spoken to her like this before.

The man freed the girl from his arms, grabbed by the shoulders and took a step back. His eyes gazed steadily at her, "Thanks to my abilities, I can see perfectly when a person is lying or is afraid of something, I can easily make any person tell the truth if I use hypnosis and I can look into the deepest wilds of this person's soul, if the situation demands so."

Corey felt the man's gaze paralyze her body as if she were a small mouse standing in front of a huge boa constrictor.
