The Numbers That Brought Our Fates Together Chapter 124: Be Grateful for What You Have.
Daniel sat in the chair in front of Yun and comfortably stretched his legs, "So, I will explain now what we will do. Even if the DNA test results are ready tomorrow, today we will try to restore your childhood memories. Is that clear?" Yun nodded in response.
"I do not guarantee anything since there is such a thing as children's amnesia. We do not remember the events that happened to us in childhood, but on an emotional level, our memory can store our perceptions that we have felt. Therefore, I will plunge you into deep hypnosis right now, and as soon as I count to one, you will slowly begin to enter your subconscious to return to the time when you were four years old."
Daniel looked into the guy's eyes with a keen voice and began to do the countdown. His deep voice supposedly put everyone who was in the room into a trance. So it was magnetically attractive.
David turned to Elena and covered her ears with his hands, not wanting her to listen to the voice of his older brother. The girl looked at him in bewilderment, but the young man knew perfectly well what effect Daniel's voice had on women.
Elena could barely hold herself not to laugh. In her eyes, it looked so cute that she wanted to drag the young man into her room and kiss him up so that he would not worry about such things.
Three, two, one. Yun's eyes closed and he plunged into a deep trance. "You are now two years old. Tell me what you do see?" Daniel asked him.
"I see a lot of trees. It's warm. I see mom and dad. We are walking in the park, and I am sitting on my dad's neck."
"What is the name of your father?"
"Pachan," Yun replied.
"Pachan?" Daniel knitted his brow and looked at Mr. Lee.
The man covered his mouth with his hand and tears came out in his eyes, "Pachan means Papa Chan. Jun used to call me like that until he was two and a half years old," Chen explained. He barely restrained himself from overwhelming emotions. He no longer thought that he would ever hear this word again.

Daniel's face lit up with a contented smile, he turned to Elena and his brother with a beaming look and winked at them in a businesslike manner. After he asked Yun the next question,
"Well, ok, your dad's name is Pachan. And what is your name?"
"Jun."
At this point, Mr. Lee's heart could not stand the strain. He sat down in a chair and covered his face with his hands, his shoulders began to shudder in unison with his breath. Elena went to her father and hugged him tightly, tears came out in the girl's eyes too.
Daniel continued his hypnosis session, and Jun was telling new fragments of memory from his childhood. He told how they played together, what they ate, what his favorite toys were and how much his father scolded him for the broken vase.
He talked about how he ruined the painting of his mother, which she had painted for a new exhibition for more than a month, and was very surprised when he didn't have a chance to eat his favorite sweets and watch cartoons for several days. Just think, he just wanted to help mom make her picture even more beautiful!
A young man with undisguised annoyance and childlike spontaneity was telling about everything that happened to him. Mr. Lee listened to his every word. It was so many years ago, but now, when Jun told all this, the man felt as if it happened only yesterday.
"Daniel, ask him about my wife. Does he know what happened to her?" Chen was grateful to the heavens for returning his son to him, he was afraid to ask for something more. But in the depths of his soul a small, almost weightless hope appeared that maybe, maybe she, too, is alive…
"Jun, tell me what was your mother doing when you saw her last?"
The young man fell silent for a moment, trying to put together the pictures in his head, "We were walking in the park and I was playing with some girl. She was sad and drawing some lines on the ground. I gave her my toy, but she refused to take it.

I was offended and wanted to leave, but she ran after me. The girl pulled a pipe from her pocket and began to whistle into it, and then gave it to me and left. I ran to my mother, to show her a toy that this girl gave to me. And my mother was sitting on a bench and crying loudly. I asked my mother who offended her, but she only shook her head and hugged me."
"What was next?" Daniel asked Jun.
"Nothing, that's all."
"Okay, enough for today. I will count from three to one now and you will wake up," the elder Anderson commanded and began the countdown.
Jun opened his eyes, and all the pictures he saw under hypnosis instantly surfaced in his memory. He turned and saw a man sitting next to him on the couch. The man's eyes were red and slightly moist, but he had a kind and warm smile on his face.
Jun's lips quivered, "D-dad… DAD!" The young man rushed to the man's neck and burst into tears at the top of his voice, "Daddy, daddy, forgive me!"
"Shhh, shhh, what are you doing, all is well," the man stroked his son's head, as if he was still a small child, "You're at home, daddy's here. Now everything will be fine." Mr. Lee soothed him, but his own voice was also ready to break at any moment.
All the others left the room, leaving the father and son alone.
"Fuuuh, I do not understand what the hell that was but working with Junie is very tiring. As if something was stopping me from getting into his head," Daniel sighed and rubbed his temples. "The last memory in the park seems strange to me as if it was edited or specially cut off."
"AND? Can't you recover the details?" David asked.
"Ha, kid, you underestimate your gorgeous big brother! There is no such thing in someone else's head where I couldn't get into!"
"Then tell me what kind of fiasco was yesterday?"
Daniel's face instantly twisted, "Tsk, where is your respect for elders, eh? What was yesterday clearly goes beyond the standard situation. But I will also deal with this, do not worry." He looked at the couple, sitting on the couch and staring at each other cutely.
"Perhaps, I will go for a walk to meet with some lovely ladies, whom I left without warning due to a sudden departure to Europe. If you need the advice of an experienced mentor in love affairs, feel free to contact me — Auch!"
"You either make it fast and get out of here, or I will throw something heavier than a harmless little pillow at you!" David grabbed a plaster figurine standing on a tea table next to him.
Daniel showed his tongue to his younger brother, turned and left. The skirmish of the two brothers made Elena smile every time. Whatever they said in words, it was obvious that these were just jokes and in case of a serious problem, they would come to the rescue of each other. Still, it's great when you have such a family.
What about her family? Where are her parents that left her in a shelter like some kind of an item? These thoughts sometimes got into the girl's head, but she tried not to attach importance to them. Regardless of what happened in the past, she now has her own family, and she is grateful to God for that.
Elena looked at the profile of a young man checking messages in his phone. She moved closer to him and laid her head on his shoulder.
"What? Want to go somewhere? How about a date?" David immediately removed the phone and hugged the girl.
"Nope, I don't want to go anywhere. I just want to be with you," Elena replied.
"Hmm, then I have a couple of ideas in mind," the young man winked playfully, and a foxy smile began to shine on his face. The Sly Fox mode was on again.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
