Saving 80,000 Gold in an Another World for Retirement Chapter 227
227. The True Ruler
“Thank you.”
Nereya-chan said that at the [Society]’s meeting. One week after she attempted to run away from home.
In the meantime, I was conducting [Ship Soul Operation], but before that, I did the follow-up for her properly.
I sent a letter to the royal palace shortly after Nereya-chan returned from the mansion of Marquis Mitchell. It was addressed to [Viscountess Nereya de Waechter].
Of course, those in charge of letter processing in the royal palace are fully aware of the aliases and the multiple titles of the royal family members and the other royal officials, so the letter should have been properly delivered to the Third Princess.
Since the sender is Mitchan, the daughter of a Marquis family, it cannot be treated indiscriminately.
And the fact that it arrived safely was proved by Nereya-chan’s words earlier.
That day, right after Nereya-chan left, I had an emergency meeting with Mitchan, wrote the letter on the spot, and asked a servant of Mitchan’s mansion to send it immediately. A big [Urgent] was written on the outside of the letter with red ink.
I don’t know how much it will be considered in the royal palace, but it was the best that we could come up with, hoping that it could lessen Nereya-chan’s punishment time even if only slightly…
The content of the letter is a notice that there was a flaw in the survey of the family structure of Viscountess Nereya de Waechter, which resulted in the addition of the confirmed female family, namely her mother and her two sisters, to the purchase-quota.
… that should solve Nereya-chan’s family problems and eliminate the need to run away from home.
In fact, Nereya-chan seems to stay in the royal palace as usual, so it is probably solved.
Actually, I wasn’t going to keep banning the king’s family from purchasing the imported products from Yamano Viscounty in the first place.
Well, of course, I banned the nobles who did something ridiculous, but in the end, the king decided to use his influence to obtain those products.

And that means someone has to get the short end of the stick.
Well, if he does that kind of thing, his credibility as a king will decline, but it’s not like I want to overthrow the royal family’s ruling system.
Even if the top were to be replaced, the tendency of this country to invade weak countries with its military force would not change, after all. On the contrary, if the government were forcibly seized through a usurpation or a coup, it might lead the country to step up their invasion game in order to mitigate the business world and the military as well as to distract the people.
And of course, they might dispatch even more expeditionary fleets to search a new land that can be easily exploited…
If they don’t mind losing the old ships that on the verge of being decommissioned along with the lives of the crew, and if they don’t do anything to compensate the bereaved families, the merit of increasing their approval rating would be far greater than the demerit of sending Navy soldiers on a journey with a low survival chance. …maybe.
So it’d be convenient for me if they’re easy to control, that is, there is a stable conservative government, and the top wants to maintain the status quo.
If a bunch of upstarts with burning ambitions becomes the top, in this level of civilization, the country would probably be out of control. And the result would be most predictable if you read the history books of the Earth.
And so, I only put those aliases… I mean, the names that they used when they’re in disguise, oblivious to their real identity, but…
After that, the other merchants got the wrong ideas and added the king and the crown prince, under the aliases [Count Wonrade and Viscount Efred], on their own rejection list. Including those related to them…
They had thought that we added them on our rejection list, knowing their real identity. And they didn’t want to take the risk that If by some chance they were deemed to have violated the rules and added on our rejection list, too…

Well, it was then that the queen and the princesses forced the Rephilia Trade to sell the cosmetics in a slightly problematic way.
…I can understand that It would’ve been unacceptable for the queen and the princesses to fall far behind the noble wives and daughters in terms of appearance.
I sure do understand their feeling well. At least to the extent that I think there is still room for taking the extenuating circumstances into consideration.
So, in the letter I sent to Nereya-chan, I wrote that I could forgive them with the condition that [if the queen and the princesses are willing to repent].
Perhaps because of that, Nereya-chan enthusiastically and condescendingly urged them to reflect upon themselves. While endlessly boasting that it’s all thanks to her.
…what a little demon.
“Currently, the nobles, the military, and the people, too; no one can go against my father” (Nereya-chan)
Yeah, you said that, but it’s pretty obvious because your [Father] is His Majesty the King, after all…
“And my father cannot go against my mother” (Nereya-chan)
Ah… I see. Well, that kind of thing often happens, even in an ordinary family …
“And now, neither my mother nor my sisters can go against me…” (Nereya-chan)
Eh?
“And now, I can’t go against Mitsuha-chan and Micheline-chan…” (Nereya-chan)
Eeh?
“Right, that means… Mitsuha-chan and Micheline-chan are the true ruler of this country..” (Nereya-chan)
” “Of course not!!” ” (Mitsuha & Mitchan)
The voices of Mitchan, who was listening next to me, were overlapping with mine.
“There’s no way his majesty would confuse the hierarchy at home with the national affairs!!” (Mitchan)
Mitchan, seriously in rage.
Well, as a child of a senior noble family, I guess it’s unbearable for her to hear such perception from a member of the royal family.
Moreover, we can’t really tell whether Nereya-chan said that seriously or jokingly.
And the fact that I somehow feel that she said that seriously only makes it even worse.
Anyway, let’s give her a little warning.
“Nereya-chan, you are the [Viscountess of Waechter]. And you have a mother and two sisters. If they were to give [different name] to the Rephilia Trade or to us, they would be exempted from the preferential treatment, as they’re no longer the family member of Viscountess Waechter, you get it? And the one who has the membership of the [Society] is [Viscountess Nereya de Waechter] not [the stranger we don’t know], like Her Highness the Third Princess, you get it?” (Mitsuha)
When I say that with a serious face, Nereya-chan broke into a cold sweat and desperately nodded.
Un, she seems to have understood that here she’s only [Viscountess Nereya de Waechter], and claiming any other statuses would not be a wise idea.
She’s a little weird and a bit inconsiderate, but she’s by no means stupid, and she’s not a bad person either.
And to prevent conflicts that are likely to cause bloody rain within the royal family, I gave the female members a warm consideration. Still, as expected, I have no intention of providing such consideration to the male, that is, neither to the King and the Crown Prince nor to Count Wonrade and Viscount Efred.
…it’s not like I have to worry that it’s the one that could cause the family discord.
They wouldn’t force themselves to get anything except the cosmetics using such a reckless method, after all.
“…umm, I want to buy sweets and a folding knife for my little brother…” (Nereya-chan)
Somehow, Nereya-chan said that awkwardly.
As expected, even an oddball adores her little brother, huh…
” “Approved!” ” (Mitchan & Mitsuha)
My voice was overlapping with Mitchan’s.
I guess Mitchan is also weak towards the word [younger brother]…
And the other members, who were anxiously watching us having a bit of a high-tension conversation, figured that the discussion seemed to be finished, and started to have an ordinary conversation with each other.
Yeah, this is a social gathering for beautiful maidens.
Let’s be elegant and graceful!!
