Isekai Izakaya Nobu Chapter 81Oyakodon (Part 1)
Who do you take after?, Lorentz thought as he looked at his emptied bowl of stew.
He didn’t want to admit it, but it was delicious.
He never would have thought that he would see the day when he would end up praising his son’s cooking, but it was much better than anything served in other bars in the area.
However, there was something on his mind, kind of like the soot left in a kiln after use.
When he looked out the window, he saw that the snow had unfortunately turned into rain. He didn’t like rain on nights this dark.
He dropped his wooden spoon into the bowl and leaned back in his chair. He felt full, but he didn’t feel any sign of drowsiness.
Lorentz lived with his two sons in a small, three-story house near Craftsmen Street.
He thought it a strange twist of fate that he had ended up settling down in Aitheria, his hometown, after having been to various countries as a travelling glass smith.
He hadn’t expected that his skills would end up earning him the honorable position of Guild Master of the Glass Smith Guild.
It was thanks to his position that he was able to raise his two sons into adulthood smoothly.
Hugo, his eldest son, was apprenticed to Lorentz. As long as Hugo practiced diligently, he would become a fine glass smith. Lorentz would have no worries about leaving the workshop to Hugo once he himself retired.
However, it was his younger son that worried Lorentz.
He had said that he wanted to be a chef.
A few days after that, he quit his job and went to work at a bar.
Who do you take after?
Lorentz wondered again.
He didn’t have to think too much; Hans took after Lorentz.

He had wanted Hans to succeed him in the glass smithing business. Hugo had some talent, but that was it. He would grow to become a good craftsman, but never a great craftsman.
As he was now, Hugo wouldn’t be able to break out of his shell and improve himself.
Hans, on the other hand, was different.
Hans intuitively knew that he should be competing with other craftsmen. He hated losing to other people, and he felt that accepting defeat was a sign of cowardice.
Lorentz had also been opposed to Hans becoming a guard.
It wasn’t because he didn’t think it suited Hans, but because, as his father, Lorentz knew that there was something better for him. If he became a glass smith, he could become a master craftsman who surpassed Lorentz. He sincerely believed that Hans’ talent would be wasted as a guard.
Hans, not Hugo, was the one who had inherited Lorentz’s dexterity and sense of colour.
Still, that was beside the point. The reason he had opposed Hans becoming a chef was because it would mean that he had wasted his time working as a guard, and would have to start over. “Why a chef?” had not been the question running through his head, but “Why not a glass smith?”. That was what had made him angry. He had thought that it was foolish, and that was why he had believed that he had to put a stop to it.
Hugo poured lukewarm into a thick glass.
Lorentz was about to thank Hugo, but stopped and covered it up by clearing his throat. He loved both his sons, but he was more worried about Hans at the moment.
(ED: For clarification, the water was boiled and left to cool down. Lukewarm was the closest thing I could come up with.)

「Hans’s stew was delicious, wasn’t it.」
「It was alright.」
「You even had a second helping. That’s not just “alright”, is it?」
「…That’s just because I was hungry.」
Hugo snorted with a shrug, and began putting away the dishes.
Hans had holed up in his room after returning. Lorentz didn’t remember speaking with him directly.
He brought his glass to his mouth while looking apologetically at Hugo’s back.
The glass was Hugo’s handiwork. It was made of thick glass, but the rim of the glass was thinner. Lorentz had taught him that this design made the drink taste better.
It was unexpectedly well-made, but Lorentz had decided that it was not good enough to be sold, so Hugo had brought it home that morning. However, Lorentz couldn’t remember exactly why he had rejected it in the first place.
He heard the sound of dishes being washed with water drawn from the well. The water was freezing cold at this time of year.
「You’ve improved…」
「You’re right. He’s improved so much so quickly. Should we start visiting Nobu again?」
「I was talking about the glass you made.」
The sounds of Hugo washing the dishes stopped.
There was only the sound of the heavy rain hitting the window.
After a long silence, the dishwashing sounds resumed, but Hugo remained silent.
「Hey, Hugo. Wanna go tomorrow?」
「By go, did you mean go to Izakaya Nobu, Master?」
「It’s okay to call me Dad at home…」
He reconsidered letting Hans call him Dad. Hugo’s back seemed to tremble slightly.

Peerless Hegemon
Warning: Can be quite tearjerking and depressing (or so others say). If you are weak to that and hates that kind of thing, then this story is not for you === Ye Feng lived two lives in one lifetime. First, he basked in the light of Righteousness, becoming an idol of peace and justice. Second, he trod the mired path of the Darkest Path, becoming an object of fear and death. One lifetime, Two Identities, countless experiences, still without purpose. A meaningless existence. An empty husk. In his selfishness of wanting to fill the void in him, he became the catalyst that destroyed Reality. He now controlled everything, ultimate power, uncontestable by none. But he cast it away, to be reborn anew. With a new name and a family, his goal was to understand, his place. To understand how to no longer feel empty. With his family consisting of a Reincarnated Twin Sister and Parents with inscrutable pasts, his desire was not that of grandeur. In this lifetime, he wishes not to hold power, not to gain eternal life, nor control of everything, he only wishes to live, and hopefully look at sunrise with a smile on his face. === Disclaimer: The story focuses on the Main Character’s emotional and personality growth. He is someone who is, obviously OP in some perspectives but almost crippled in others. He is not soft and does not spare anyone because it is “Bad” so expect that there would be genocide and some bloody encounters. I want this instead of just the MC’s search for life and its complication. Where Philosophy and values exist. A story where every action has proper consequences, and not everything can be conquered with a single punch (unless it can be, no need for an unnecessary complication if it can be avoided). Further Notes: This is a story that will gradually increase in word counts and become Chunkier as it progresses and will almost never be below 2000 words, but if the word count will only lengthen the chapter at the expense of a finished tale, it could and would be cut off before 2000 mark), give it a try, it won’t disappoint (I hope). And if by chance that you like it, giving a good Rating and Review will be encouraging to me and possible readers. Schedule: Monday and Friday If you want to read ahead and/or support me to creating this story, you can do it through my Patreon (link below the next chapter button.) Elder's Game
In a world set upon by an ancient threat, a new cycle of civilisation competes for power and resources. Amidst the games and politicking of Elder beings, the masses are unknowingly ensnared in plots and schemes that were centuries in the making. At the heart of the world’s workings lies the Tyreal Valley—a land that promises to fulfil the desires of those who seek it. As a haven for the truly strong, the path to this promise is paved more often than not in warfare and blood. To two young stragglers fighting for more than just their own fates, it is left as their only answer. But maybe that’s just what their enemies want. Magic system vaguely similar to GameLit ones (no system nor interface to help), with certain elements that are a bit more analogue. Politics, war, looming apocalypse, a tiny dash of kingdom building, and a minor bit of crafting. There is a bit of a progression element as well as both environmental and cultural exploration. The story follows two youths more directly influenced by aforementioned Elder beings than most. Neither lead cares for politics but certain situations force them into participating, forcing them to make decisions that shape their morality. Initially, the focus is on the male lead as he comes of age in an environment with little scope to change his future, only to be thrust into new circumstances that permanently kill some of his hopes. 3k words every chapter
