《Refining the Mountains and Rivers》Chapter 1036 – Blood Refining

After putting on a suit of wolf blood and a wolfskin mask, Qin Yu didn’t stop there. He dismembered the entire scaled abyssal wolf and tossed it in a hole in the cave.
With this, it should be possible to block nearly all of Feature’s scent, right? Qin Yu didn’t know the answer and could only allow time to prove whether it was true or not.
“Humph! Do you not know that abyssal beings like to devour each other to grow stronger? This scaled abyssal wolf’s blood aura will soon attract hunters from all around. At that time, things will only become increasingly troublesome for you.”
Qin Yu sat down cross-legged. “If they come then they can come. I welcome them.” Although his cultivation had been sealed, after he entered the abyss he obtained a similarly formidable strength.
For instance, this scaled abyssal wolf. While he had no idea of its relative level of strength within the abyss, killing it was as easy as killing a chicken. While this might be a little exaggerated, the truth was that it wasn’t too difficult.
If it weren’t for the fact that he was testing the intensity of his own strength, there wouldn’t have been a white mark left behind on his fist.
Certainly, the faint white mark left behind by the wolf’s claws had long since vanished.
Coldly snorting a few times, Feature turned and sat down. But when she glanced at Qin Yu’s back, brilliance sparkled in her eyes.
Putting aside his determination and wisdom, this boy’s luck was extremely good.
After she entered the abyss she had completely sealed away her strength. If she exposed any of it, she would be detected by the abyss’ will.
So, she really didn’t have any ability to defend herself.
Unless she decided she had played here long enough and wanted to leave, only then could she truly release her aura.
If Qin Yu had woken up just a little bit slower or if the scaled abyssal wolf had arrived a little earlier, she might have been forced to leave already.
This one thing seemed simple but it actually had a far-reaching impact. It meant she could continue staying in the abyss and carefully observe this world!
And reality proved that Feature’s words were correct. The blood of the scaled abyssal wolf attracted other hunters.
Unfortunately for them, none of them were too strong. After a quick skirmish none of them were able to take away the scaled abyssal wolf’s flesh and blood and they instead left behind their own corpses.
So as more and more time passed, more and more body parts of abyssal creatures were scattered throughout the cave. The ground was nearly soaked black with blood. The strong and foul smell that exuded from it was so rich that just taking one sniff made a person want to barf.
But there was some good news. Besides since the first arrival, none of the other abyssal creatures were able to discover Feature’s scent.
It seemed that Qin Yu’s plan was useful. By borrowing the smell of the abyssal creatures’ flesh and blood, she could cover up her own scent.
Feature had said that she only wanted to stay in the abyss for a period of time. She had never stated any special requirements about location or environment.
If so, this cave was a good choice!
But if what Feature said was correct, as time passed her scent would grow increasingly strong. Eventually, the smell of these abyssal creatures wouldn’t be enough to cover it up.

Perhaps he would need the flesh and blood of a stronger abyssal being to do so.
Qin Yu furrowed his eyebrows in contemplation. Then, he let out a deep breath. These were all considerations for the future. He would take things one step at a time first.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, continuing to study the abyssal strength within his body. Perhaps because he had fused with a part of the abyssal source, as time passed he came to know many things about what happened in the abyss.
For instance, these abyssal creatures that were attracted by the smell of blood. When he saw them, he could determine their approximate type and power level.
Of course, the abilities of the abyssal source weren’t limited to just this. After careful meditation, he slowly came to learn a type of cultivation method.
Its contents were similar to what Feature said before about the abyssal beings devouring each other to grow increasingly stronger. This technique was born from the abyssal source. After perceiving it, it directly branded itself onto Qin Yu’s soul. It didn’t have a name to begin with.
“Then let’s call it…Blood Refining.”
Shua –
Qin Yu opened his eyes. He walked out of the cave and arrived next to the corpse of an abyssal creature. This corpse was shaped like a lion and it was 20 feet long. Besides being covered in scales, it also had a lone horn jutting out from its head. Even though it had died, faint traces of black lightning continued to linger around this horn, constantly releasing a light crackling sound.
Dark thunder demon lion. Amongst the abyssal beasts, they could be considered at the upper end of the food chain. They were formidable existences, but their numbers were scarce.
Using this as an experiment was an appropriate choice.
He took a deep breath and squatted down. He placed a finger on the dark thunder demon lion’s body.
With a thought, the Blood Refining Art immediately activated. Faint traces of blood red light instantly appeared on its surface, gathering and flowing up Qin Yu’s finger and entering his body.
“Mm? This feeling…” Qin Yu revealed an intoxicated expression. As the blood energy poured into him, he could clearly feel the heart of the abyss beating with more and more power. Heat surged through his limbs and bones, making him feel amazingly comfortable.
By the time the last wisp of blood energy was plundered, the dark thunder demon lion’s corpse had withered away as if it was a piece of wood that had laid in the sun for 10,000 years. With a light ‘pa’ sound, it crumbled into powder.
Qin Yu opened his eyes, a blood red light in his pupils. He licked his lips, an impatient urge in his heart. It was like ants were crawling all over him. He vividly wanted to use the Blood Refining Art again and immediately start plundering more blood energy.
This was wrong!
Qin Yu took a deep breath and forcibly suppressed his racing heart. Only after a long time did his racing blood energy finally calm down.
Feature’s voice sounded out, “At least you are smart. While that plundering technique can be used to strengthen yourself, it has an equally great shortcoming. If you cannot restrain its temptation, you will soon fall into madness and plunder too many foreign existences, causing your own bloodline to become overly mixed. In the end, your bloodline will storm out of control and you will become something that is neither a human nor a monster. You will lose all of your intelligence and become a brainless beast that only knows death and slaughter.”

Qin Yu’s heart chilled. There was no reason for Feature to lie to him. As expected, when he felt something was wrong, he was fortunate enough to resist the temptation to continue devouring.
“I called this technique Blood Refining because it could be used to seize outside bloodlines to strengthen myself. But now it seems that the flaws are too great to ignore.”
He had nearly been unable to suppress the desire to swallow and swallow. Someone with a weaker will would have drowned themselves in it.
“Blood Refining…” Feature muttered this name under her breath a few times before nodding, “This name is appropriate. The foundation of any abyssal being is their own bloodline. Through cultivating or plundering others, they constantly strengthen themselves and can hold more and more abyssal energy within themselves, finally causing the will of the abyss to descend.”
She looked at Qin Yu, “There are myriad methods in the world. No matter how perfect they appear, they each have their own flaws and shortcomings. Because in this world, true perfection never existed to begin with. The bloodline technique you perceived from the abyssal source might affect your mind, but as long as your willpower is sufficient, you aren’t blinded by bloodthirst, and you also control the amount of times you utilize it, it can be considered a heaven-defying cultivation method.
“Of course I must give you a warning. This sort of cultivation method can only be utilized in the abyss, because it is a way of strengthening yourself that has been approved by the will of the abyss. You must never use it in the outside world! Moreover, the more your cultivation deepens and you obtain more strength from the Blood Refining technique, the greater of an effect it will have on your mind.”
Qin Yu had a dignified look, “There is no perfection in the world…” He whispered to himself. His eyes lit up, as if he had a harvest.
After several breaths of time, he composed himself and cupped his hands together, “I thank Miss Feature for the reminder.”
Feature closed her eyes, “It’s nothing. I just hope that you can help me stay in the abyss for a bit longer.”
Seeing that she wasn’t willing to say much else, Qin Yu turned back to the cave entrance and started to sense the changes occurring within his body.
What the Blood Refining technique plundered was the bloodline of the dark thunder demon lion. It was now in the heart of the abyss. Qin Yu’s consciousness gathered there, and he could even see a miniaturized version of the dark thunder demon lion struggling and roaring in the heart of the abyss.
What he had to do next was completely refine the bloodline. After stripping it of all impurities, he could take it for himself.
This process wasn’t fast and would consume a massive amount of energy. But only like this could he obtain a pure bloodline that wouldn’t cause him any damage.
Qin Yu closed his eyes and stimulated his heart of the abyss to beat. The heart contracted and expanded, constantly tempering the dark thunder demon lion’s bloodline. Feature suddenly opened her eyes and glanced over, a strange look in her eyes.
After fusing with the abyssal source, Qin Yu would be able to perceive a method of inheritance of the abyss’ royal family from the abyss’ will. This she already knew.
But she never imagined that what Qin Yu would obtain was the Blood Refining technique…it had to be known that this art that seized others’ bloodlines to strengthen oneself had a great shortcoming, but its ability to increase one’s strength was terrifyingly fast.
With the characteristics of abyssal creatures, after obtaining it they wouldn’t even need any other type of cultivation. As long as an abyssal creature lived long enough they could eat their way into becoming a new Abyssal King.
With Feature’s understanding of the abyss, Qin Yu’s Blood Refining technique was incomparably precious even to the abyss’s royal family.
Perhaps only the most formidable royal bloodline had fragmented inheritances of this.
This boy’s luck was truly invincible!
And this was just the first inheritance method he had awakened so far. After fusing with the abyssal source, he should be able to awaken at least two different talents!
“I really want to know just what type of ability he obtains in his second awakening.” She whispered to herself, looking at Qin Yu.
Luck was the most illusory existence. No one could say exactly what it was, but it did exist.
Out of the countless trillions of cultivators, how could some people leap up and reach the highest heavens? And why did some people perish early in their paths, becoming nothing but soil?
There was nothing else, only luck!
This wasn’t a falsehood, but something she had concluded after living long enough and seeing enough shockingly talented geniuses that put forth enough hard work.
Of course, luck was left to those who put forth their best effort. Those that stood around and waited for death could only pray to be a lucky bastard.
Entering the abyss was just a casual fanciful thought that Feature had; she thought she would soon be chased out. She never imagined that Qin Yu would come up with such a roguish method.
The longer she stayed, the better it was for her. Moreover, she also wanted to know what Qin Yu’s next change was going to be like.
“I hope I can stay for a few more days…but if he relies on this method alone, it won’t last much longer…”
At this time, Feature frowned. She looked up into the distance.
Strong winds whistled and rocks and sand recklessly flew. There wasn’t anything out of the ordinary in this vast and boundless world, but she seemed to have sensed something.
…
A black iron cart wrapped in some kind of thick animal skin was moving through the strong winds. What pulled the cart were two giant horned demon cows. White clouds of steam came from their noses. No matter how the rocks and sand crashed into their bodies, it only felt like itching to these thick-skinned abyssal demon cows.
Suddenly, a whistle sounded out. The giant horned demon cows came to a stop and the black iron cart opened up. A group of people in thick robes stepped out.
Their heavy robes touched the ground and their appearances were almost the same as humans’. But the abyssal energy lingering around them proved their true identities.
“My lord, it's not too far up ahead. There are many demon beast corpses there, and some of them are of formidable strength. I do not dare to approach any further.”
A tall abyssal demon bowed as he spoke.
