Chapter 2058: Courting Death
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
A range of Divine Mountains stood before them. The Demon God Temple was located on the desolate moor surrounded by the Divine Mountains. Cultivators were marching to the black divine palace from all directions.
At this point, people sensed that a hint of menace was approaching. A group of cultivators with icy eyes glared at Ye Futian, who was leading the way to the moorland.
“Em?” Many people, including cultivators from the Jiang Clan Ancient Royal Family, showed a strange look. They were surprised to see cultivators from the Great Yan Ancient Royal Family and the Lingxiao Palace charging toward Ye Futian with malice. What happened between them?
The cultivators from the Great Yan Ancient Royal Family and the Lingxiao Palace also felt the pressure coming from the divine palace as they were moving forward. Their hearts were pounding violently, and blood rushing in a frenzy. A peculiar type of power shielded the area. Any divine consciousness they released was crushed here immediately.
Therefore, they soon slowed down. Watching from behind, they saw that Ye Futian kept moving forward and had increased the distance between them. Approaching the Demon God Temple, he had joined the first echelon and entered the area where most people couldn’t get to.
A frightening golden dragon took shape behind Yan Hanxing. Baring fangs and brandishing claws, it made threatening gestures while hovering in the sky and blotting out the sun.
“Go.” Yan Hanxing pointed his finger forward while staring at Ye Futian. In an instant, the divine golden dragon roared and pounced toward Ye Futian. With a series of raucous noise, the golden dragon seemed to have encountered tremendous resistance and obstruction. The closer it got to Ye Futian, the slowlier it moved. All of a sudden, its gigantic body started to disintegrate and break into pieces.
Upon seeing it, Ye Futian took out a divine sword and jabbed the dragon in the sky. Without any suspense, the sword pierced through the divine golden dragon, and its giant body shattered at once.
Ye Futian’s divine sword flew back to him. His heart rate was still increasing. Ye Futian certainly knew that he didn’t fend off the attack from Yan Hanxing so easily by himself. It was because they were situated in a special area where even top Renhuangs might blow up due to the pressure. The attack of the Great Path generated by a Renhuang surely would be destroyed just the same.
Yan Hanxing also realized the situation. He glared at Ye Futian from behind and let out a deafening roar. It was the Song of the Yan Dragon. The terrifying Sonic Wave charged at Ye Futian directly. Nevertheless, Yan Hanxing could clearly feel that the power of the Sonic Wave was weakened continuously. It was no longer threatening when it reached Ye Futian and was shattered in the end.

Fizz… Another Renhuang who was walking in between Yan Hanxing and Ye Futian died after uttering a yelp. He was concentrating on withstanding the scary power coming from the Demon God Temple and was attacked by the Song of the Yan Dragon out of the blue. His Spiritual Will was devastated right away and could no longer protect him. He died tragically.
“Go ahead and attack him if you want. Don’t get other people into trouble,” someone said to Yan Hanxing in an irritated tone. A lot of cultivators turned back and glared at Yan Hanxing. In the area between Yan Hanxing and Ye Futian, they were worried about becoming collateral damage like the man before.
With a grim expression, Yan Hanxing wrapped his body with the energy of the Great Path and protected himself with a real dragon. He burst out tremendous Spiritual Will and stepped forward, charging at Ye Futian with the intent to kill him.
Yan Hanxing was not the only one. Powerful Renhuangs from both the Great Yan Ancient Royal Family and the Lingxiao Palace were moving toward Ye Futian, aiming to swarm around him.
Ye Futian turned back to have a look, then kept going forward. His face was stern as well. With a thundering bang of the Great Path, he protected his body with the Divine Tree and unleashed formidable Energy of Life. His Great Path remained strong, and his Spiritual Energy was at its peak.
He slowed down as if he couldn’t sustain himself. But the enemies were approaching him from behind. Plenty of notable cultivators from the Great Yan Ancient Royal Family and the Lingxiao Palace were getting closer to Ye Futian.
“What happened?” Jiang Jiuming wasn’t informed of the situation and was shocked to see their behavior. There seemed to be irreconcilable conflicts between Ye Futian, the Great Yan Ancient Royal Family, and the Lingxiao Palace. They all acted as though they were determined to kill each other.
However, before they entered the secret zones, the chief had personally ordered them not to fight against each other inside the secret zones. They had to keep things under control even if conflicts arose.
Ye Futian turned around, took a few steps, and stopped. His heart was pounding violently, but the energy currents of the Great Path flowed out of his body and spread to the surrounding area. A hint of menace gleamed in his eyes. These people wanted to approach him from behind and kill him?
He waited for a while, and some of the enemies were pretty close already. Yan Hanxing reminded the others, “Be careful.”
Yan Hanxing sensed enormous pressure. So did everyone else. The tiniest mistake might bring death to themselves. They had to be extra cautious.
Ye Futian already stopped in front of them. He probably didn’t have the strength to keep going any longer.

A cultivator from the Lingxiao Palace took out a spear that was glowing with the terrifying, golden divine light of the Great Path. It looked like it could penetrate the space and would allow him to slaughter Ye Futian as long as they moved a little closer.
The Blood Force was surging in their bodies, and their hearts were palpitating in the chests. They were about to reach their limits.
At this point, Ye Futian took a few steps closer to the Demon God Temple and stopped again. The cultivators from the Great Yan Ancient Royal Family and the Lingxiao Palace were unsettled.
But they were here already and couldn’t give up now.
Thinking of that, they moved forward a little bit more. The closer they got to the black palace, the stronger the pressure was. Their hearts were beating even more rapidly.
The spear holding by the Renhuang from the Lingxiao Palace stretched out and emitted brilliant divine light. Just when he was about to strike Ye Futian, Ye Futian moved two steps closer to the Temple. The energy currents of the Great Path were roaring around his body. His face was contorted when he turned back as though he was suffering from great pain.
“He can’t hold on any longer,” said Yan Hanxing. He felt like he was reaching his limit and would be in danger if he moved forward more. Ye Futian was closer to the Temple than them and must be in a more vulnerable situation.
With that in mind, they kept going to push Ye Futian further. Ye Futian would either self-explode or be killed by them. There was no way out for him.
But just when they thought Ye Futian couldn’t sustain himself, Ye Futian walked a few steps further into the desolate moor. Eight Renhuangs from the Great Yan Ancient Royal Family and the Lingxiao Palace were close to him enough. They forced themselves to take one more step. Several of them already reached the threshold. The Great Path around their bodies was bellowing, and their Spiritual Will was strained. They were about to break down.
The black divine temple emitted a frightening pressure that suppressed them, upset their Blood Force, and trembled their hearts. The blood in their bodies was boiling.
At this moment, Ye Futian turned around to face them. His dark eyes were filled with intense hatred, and his cold face was not distorted anymore.
“I will grant your wish since you’re so eager to die,” said Ye Futian. The energy currents of the Great Path from his body flowed along with the dark energy that originated from this area rather than being destroyed. The moon hung in the sky and shone the Yin Divine Light upon the cultivators from the Great Yan Ancient Royal Family and the Lingxiao Palace.
The Renhuangs closer to Ye Futian were astounded and frightened.
They released the Great Path to defend themselves from the Yin Divine Light. Bathing in the Yin Divine Light, they felt that a bitter chill was invading their Spiritual Will and freezing their spiritual souls. Their defense seemed even more useless at this moment.
How can he unleash the energy of the Great Path? they thought to themselves. How did Ye Futian achieve that?
Ye Futian’s frosty eyes shot them a cold glare. He had a perfect Divine Wheel and the Great Path formed by the Natal Spirit of the World Tree, which could still release energy in this space. He tested it before and had been waiting for his enemies to provoke him.
“Retreat…” Yan Hanxing bellowed. With a shrilling cry, a person who was trying to protect himself from the energy of Ye Futian’s Great Path couldn’t hold on any longer. Blood spurted out, and his body exploded into countless pieces.
With a series of screech, five cultivators were killed in the blink of an eye. Yan Hanxing protected his body with the pure-blooded dragon, which was also shattering under attack. He uttered a snort and pulled back in a rush. Fizz! Hearts pounding, he threw up a pool of blood and was also bleeding from his eyes, nose, and ears.
He turned around and ran away from that area immediately. The other two cultivators who survived the attack were not in better condition. They had no choice but to take to their heels despite being eighth- and ninth-order Renhuangs.
More cultivators from the Great Yan Ancient Royal Family and the Lingxiao Palace who attempted to rush forward stopped as soon as they saw what happened to Yan Hanxing. Instead, they beat a hasty retreat with sullen faces.
Ye Futian killed more high-level Renhuangs from their side.
“Ye Liunian!”
They were consumed with hatred.
Other cultivators who witnessed the battle were also disconcerted. Ye Futian slaughtered several Renhuangs from the Great Yan Ancient Royal Family and the Lingxiao Palace. Did he finally fall out with those two groups?
However, would the Domain Chief’s Manor let him off the hook for disobeying the rule set by Chief Ning?
How would Ye Futian explain to Chief Ning after leaving the secret zones?
The bystanders had no idea that Chief Ning was behind everything. Ye Futian couldn’t care less about the rule because Chief Ning was waiting to kill him anyway if he got out.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
